Furious China Shadows Two US Warships Sailing Through Disputed Waters, Warns Them To Leave

China is again furious after the US sailed several warships through the heavily disputed waters in the South China Sea, military sources told Reuters. The move by the US has escalated tensions between both countries, already tense as the latest round of trade talks have fallen apart, and the signing of the phase one trade deal has likely been delayed.

The USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS-10), an Independence-class littoral combat ship, on Wednesday sailed within 12 nautical miles of Mischief Reef, a militarized island in the South China Sea operated by China.

Then on Thursday, USS Wayne E. Meyer, an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, sailed through the Paracel islands in the South China Sea.

“These missions are based in the rule of law and demonstrate our commitment to upholding the rights, freedoms, and lawful uses of the sea and airspace guaranteed to all nations,” Commander Reann Mommsen, a spokeswoman for the US Navy’s Seventh Fleet, told Reuters.

China’s People’s Liberation Army shadowed the two US warships as they both transited through the disputed waters, and “warned them to leave.” China’s military warned the US has to stop sending warships near its militarized islands to “avoid the happening of any mishap.”

“The US has kept sending naval vessels to stir up trouble in the South China Sea under the pretext of freedom of navigation,” a statement from the Chinese military, with the Southern Theatre Command said. “We call on the US to stop such provocative acts to avoid the happening of any mishap.”

China’s Foreign Ministry Geng Shuang, at a press briefing on Friday, told reporters, “the US actions severely damage China’s sovereignty and safety, destroy the peace and stability in the South China Sea, and we express our resolute opposition.”

The US has increased freedom of navigation operations since the trade war began, attempting to counter China not just on economic fronts, but also on military ones. The latest freedom of navigation missions conducted by the US is coinciding with new reports this week, that the phase one trade deal between both countries has been delayed until 2020. The Trump administration is reportedly not willing to roll back tariffs for a deal that doesn’t include intellectual property and technology transfer. This has caused renewed anxieties between Washington and Beijing.

As trade wars continue to be unresolved, it’s becoming increasingly evident that military tensions between both countries are increasing as well.

These articles I highlighted today on the end period of lifecycle costs of wind and solar are rarely referenced by FAKE Greens. These costs are going to become more and more significant. The same is true of the FAKE Green car culture of EV’s. REAL Green acknowledges this as FAKE Green but says we still need them and they are vital. What needs to change is behavior. There must be an effort to degrowth with lower consumption and acceptance of intermittency to accommodate the problems with full lifecycle costs of renewables. Embracing degrowth and intermittency means we would need much less of renewable build out and the process would prepare us for further decline. The REAL Green argument is behavior first followed by honest techno solutions this is further adapted by saying failure is ahead no matter what we do so plan and act accordingly.

Renewables are path dependent and carbon trapped too but FAKE Greens dismiss this. Yet, renewables offer resilience and sustainability on the way down. They are an additional resource of decline adaptation. Properly employed renewables can make a local more sustainable and resilient to a decline process that ultimately ends in collapse. FAKE Greens have all kinds of arguments for renewables with green new deals that are just plain delusional if their behavior does not modify. REAL Green says this delusional behavior will not modify and can’t. FAKE Green renewable policy is carbon trapped and path dependent just like the rest of the energy complex. A REAL Green accepts this and says well at least they will get built out because we need more. REAL Green knows that economically this will end eventually as energy penetration obstacles brick wall the energy transformation. Cost are set to skyrocket at a time the global economy will begin a contraction.

These FAKE Green delusions are all the ingredients of failure. REAL Green says look locally with techno solutions and behavioral changes in regards to this failure. This means you can incorporate renewables into your green doom and prep effort. The next 20 years will probably see a collapse of some sort. If you have a renewable component you will be better off. REAL Green looks past the false narratives of FAKE Greens and says “it is what it is” so how can we leverage this failed narrative? You leverage it by incorporating the tech into a REAL Green effort while it is cheap and available. Get with it because at any time a financial collapse might occur that will end the opportunity.

The problem boils down to what are we even capable of in regards to education reform. If we cannot even agree on the science how much can you really achieve? Reform is also a problem with when you start the process. Humans are imprinted at an early age which influences the rest of their life. Then there is the issue at home where a great deal of nurturing occurs. If we as a people cannot even agree on the science and even when there is agreement on science then the there is a flaw with the science of the solutions. Delusional solutions are about as bad as denialist science just at an ascending level. Delusional solutions can harm just as bad.

We have brown denialist and we have fake greens. Both shades of denialist and fakes want to do more of the same. Fake greens want to do more of the same but green and clean. Anyone that is honest with the science knows renewables are not clean and green. The only thing clean and green is adapted behavior. Some things are cleaner and greener than others. Acknowledging traditional narrative of green is not clean today would be a step because that step would say behavior must change before techno solutions. Solar and wind farms are better than a new shopping mall in regards to foot print, yet, if this is running an EV car culture is still a car culture. Car culture is what is killing the world.

Delocalization of globalism through the car culture and attainment of affluent comforts and satisfactions is killing the planet. You can’t green that up much. If this is true then an education system is carbon trapped and path dependent. It cannot be reformed as it should because of the basic social narrative in place. A proper education system would be partially like the late 19th century and early 20th where home economics and gardening were taught with planetary realities as the basis. A proper education system would start with the fundamentals of the carbon trap and path dependencies by saying collapse is ahead. Can any of you imagine the storm created with a teacher talking about collapse. At what age can kids deal with the idea of collapse? The idea of collapse has to get at the very young to properly educate. It is my opinion the education as is cannot be reformed. There are too many other priorities. We can maybe adapt the university some but there ecology and climate are well taught for anyone interested. We need to reach further down into the early years. We need to get honest about the science. We also need to deal with the most important element and that is behavior.

I would use a template of the Catholic school system but adapted with ecology as the center of behavior influencing all other subjects. This would include hands on with the basics of conservation, efficient living, and food production. It would promote sustainability and resilience as a core thinking. It would be behavior based with planetary respect. This will not happen but it is good to imagine and understand what it would take to develop citizens into planetary caring people wanting to lower foot prints. It could happen on a small scale subsidized by government and extended out to permaculture localism. In other words, quit trying to change what cannot be change and instead plant seeds of change in small groups and locals for when crisis allows these small nodes of excellence to replicate and impact society when the time is fertile. In the mean time it is the moral duty in a planetary sense for anyone awakened to try to influence the young positively on the importance of footprint and eco behavior locally and individually. Local seminars and group discussions are essential but unfortunately will be drown out by the noise of modern life.
