Furious China Shadows Two US Warships Sailing Through Disputed Waters, Warns Them To Leave

Furious China Shadows Two US Warships Sailing Through Disputed Waters, Warns Them To Leave thumbnail

China is again furious after the US sailed several warships through the heavily disputed waters in the South China Sea, military sources told Reuters.  The move by the US has escalated tensions between both countries, already tense as the latest round of trade talks have fallen apart, and the signing of the phase one trade deal has likely been delayed

The USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS-10), an Independence-class littoral combat ship, on Wednesday sailed within 12 nautical miles of Mischief Reef, a militarized island in the South China Sea operated by China.

Then on Thursday, USS Wayne E. Meyer, an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, sailed through the Paracel islands in the South China Sea.

“These missions are based in the rule of law and demonstrate our commitment to upholding the rights, freedoms, and lawful uses of the sea and airspace guaranteed to all nations,” Commander Reann Mommsen, a spokeswoman for the US Navy’s Seventh Fleet, told Reuters.

China’s People’s Liberation Army shadowed the two US warships as they both transited through the disputed waters, and “warned them to leave.” China’s military warned the US has to stop sending warships near its militarized islands to “avoid the happening of any mishap.”

“The US has kept sending naval vessels to stir up trouble in the South China Sea under the pretext of freedom of navigation,” a statement from the Chinese military, with the Southern Theatre Command said. “We call on the US to stop such provocative acts to avoid the happening of any mishap.”

China’s Foreign Ministry Geng Shuang, at a press briefing on Friday, told reporters, “the US actions severely damage China’s sovereignty and safety, destroy the peace and stability in the South China Sea, and we express our resolute opposition.”

The US has increased freedom of navigation operations since the trade war began, attempting to counter China not just on economic fronts, but also on military ones. The latest freedom of navigation missions conducted by the US is coinciding with new reports this week, that the phase one trade deal between both countries has been delayed until 2020. The Trump administration is reportedly not willing to roll back tariffs for a deal that doesn’t include intellectual property and technology transfer. This has caused renewed anxieties between Washington and Beijing.

As trade wars continue to be unresolved, it’s becoming increasingly evident that military tensions between both countries are increasing as well.

Here is the real big picture … the USA realizes that China will soon surpass them if status quo isn’t changed. The true motive of the trade war is to decouple the US from China quickly enough to asymmetrically target and destroy any tip of the spear Chinese companies/projects/tech such as the Huawei, 5G, DJI, EV, trains, Cancer research, etc etc to cripple China’s plans to move up the value chain and hi-tech-ify its economy and to do so with enough force to set back China and permanently prevent it from successfully climbing the arch trajectory of replacing the US. For the US it’s not just about losing the top spot to China, if America were to ever lose its petrodollar hegemony it would collapse in much the same way as happened to the USSR. The whole US empire is built on house of cards, ever since Brentwood they got away with taxing/usurping the world using the dollar as economic weaponization through ‘quantitative easing’ and its military to control OPEC to sustain the petrodollar hegemony. In the 1980’s Japan became a threat to the US so they forced Tokyo to acquiesce to the Plaza Accord resulting in the “lost four decades” and Japan never recovering. Nowadays Trump, Steve Bannon, Pompeo and other Hawks are trying to impose the same sort of colonization on China, but much harder to do since China doesn’t entertain US troops/US bases unlike the Japanese vassal so the next best thing is to subvert Hong Kong by way of CIA/NED and other propaganda techniques. Sames goes for the Taiwan issue, Dali Lama, Ulgyers, and the South China sea. This is all part of the bigger picture to contain China’s continued rise, as we see that if the US ever lost its hegemony it would be game over… America views Chinese ambitions such as Made In China 2025, One Belt One Road, 5G, AI, etc as existential threats to its very lifestyle and way of life, hence the whole “Huawei is a national security issue” stance… This will only get much worse, Xi predicted this will last a period of 30 years until which time China has become the undisputed Number One in the world economically, technologically, politically and militaristically. As the declining power the US isn’t going to just go down without fighting…..

Thank you supertard for using high English for saying muzzie love. even when you don’t say it you still do because it’s an implied feature of high english.
i just want to differ slightly that China unfairly violated all economic treaties to gain advantage. the number of economic espionage is high and continuing.
and no supertards aren’t out to dominate china. you discount the fact that americans are devastated by chinese unfair competition that they voted for whitey supertard trump.
andrew yang – william hung remade made this diagnosis, not me. so it was merely an attempt to level the playing field. it’s not an effort to contain china, saying so would be putting up a recipe for war and china is the aggressor here, her generals constantly make threats to destroy supertard america. they do this using low English

James Rickard is a collapsenik, he believes in the end of the US empire and collapse of the dollar. About the EU and euro he is much more upbeat:

    https://dailyreckoning.com/rickards-brexit-is-not-end-of-eu/

James Rickards: Brexit is NOT the End of the EU (2016)

I do not believe that Brexit means that the European Union is going to break up. Or that it spells the end of the euro as a currency. I’ve been very bullish on Europe and the Euro in the past.

Now the important thing to understand is the European Union is not primarily an economic project.

Correct and that is the prime reason for Brexit. The British wanted to be part of the Common Market (under the aegis of the US empire, lording over it all), but not part of political Europe. They wanted to remain part of Anglosphere, not continental Europe.

The way to think about the European Union, ask yourself, “Does the political will exist to keep it together?” Clearly, in the U.K., it didn’t… Look, if the Brexit had been the Netherlands or Italy or Spain or someone like that, I would have a much more pessimistic or dire outlook for Europe, but it wasn’t. It was the U.K., and the U.K. has always been different… the U.K. was never a good fit with Europe to begin with.

Europe is solid. The U.K. leaving is a big deal economically. It’s a big deal for the U.K., and it will cause aftershocks, which we’re watching. One of the aftershocks will not be the breakup of the European Union. It will not be the end of the Euro. In fact, I expect the Euro to get stronger from here, again going back to the Shanghai Accord.

does the Italian banking crisis have the potential to spin completely out of control, worse than 2018? The answer is yes. I’m watching that, but I don’t expect that. I expect that they will be able to truncate it, meaning bail in, bail out.

James Rickards on Dollar Collapse & Euro as Future Reserve (2014)

Europe is Doing Everything Right, Euro Will Replace Doomed Dollar & EU Bond Market Will Trigger Dollar Collapse: Euro Will Replace Doomed Dollar

In a time of euro skepticism and criticism of EU affairs from many corners, James Rickards declared in an interview, “Not only is Europe doing a lot of things right, in fact, I think they are doing everything right.”

“It is underestimated by experts in the United States … There’s almost a kind of euro hatred in the United States. I don’t know what to say about it except that they have been wrong for a long period of time.”

“As a political project if the political will is there to succeed, then it will succeed because states are very powerful, and more powerful than markets.”

James Rickards Favors Euro as Future World’s Reserve Currency

Concerning the dollar collapse, he stated that it is inevitable, and at this point he is “waiting for an avalanche or a trigger for it to come tumbling down.” In my interview with James Rickards, I asked him is there the possibility, of a role reversal between the EU and U.S. after the dollar collapse.

“Yes and it is certainly a possibility. I won’t say the only possible outcome, but it is a very strong possibility.

Rickards also talks favorably of the ECB versus the U.S. Federal Reserve, which he speaks negatively concerning Fed decisions. He stated concerning the ECB, ” you have a central bank that actually sticks to what it’s supposed to do, which is to maintain a sound currency and maintain price stability and doing a very good job of that.

He speaks very highly of the euro and favors it because of its gold reserves. In talking about the system after the dollar collapse he predicts, “It is entirely foreseeable what the new system look like and who the powers are who will be sitting around the table.”

“Interestingly Europe, the European monetary zone that backs the euro-the 18 countries …they have the largest pile of chips, they have over 10 thousand tons of gold. The United States comes in second, we have about 8 thousand tons of gold, after that believe it or not is the IMF, the International Monetary Fund, they have almost 3 thousand tons of gold.”

“So the collapse is coming, it is completely predictable, gold is going to determine who gets the biggest voice in the new system. And Europe has the largest pile of gold, so they are going to be the biggest player in this reset.”

    James Rickard May 2018:

    https://mobile.twitter.com/jamesgrickards/status/1002228339363532802

I’ll say what I said in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015: No one is leaving the euro. No one’s getting kicked out. Eurozone will add new members. Euro is rock solid. You only need to know one thing. The euro has never been an economic project. It has always been political.

Tellingly this conference was in Astana. I predict that Astana is going to replace New York as the next diplomatic capital of the world. Astana is geopolitically neutral (read: insignificant), Kazakhstan is half European, half Asian. Astana is geographically precisely halfway China and Europe (and India)

Jim shares his views on the current state of the global economy and why he believes we are headed for a major global financial crisis in the near future that will be greater than 2008.

Discussed is how investors can prepare and even benefit from the collapse.

Gold set to make a comeback as money and why a $10,000 per ounce gold price is not out of the question.

We go into Jim’s work for the US government & CIA, and ask if they know the collapse is coming and are preparing for it.

This is probably because his Eurotardland is falling apart economically. The ECB is a mess and he knows it so he talks about 16,000 tons of gold. Cloggo, gold is a fraction of the outstanding credit and fiat currency in the world. It really means nothing and will never really matter in a collapsing global world. Rest assured that the Chinese people, all IQ100 1350 million of them, have zero interest to subdue themselves to the Soros-bunch. This is extremely good news for Europe, as always including Russia.

And then there is vast but empty Australia, luring directly behind Anglo navies, defenseless, in case of CW2.

No need for formal alliances between PBM and China, just a nod in shady backrooms.

There were no formal alliances either between the three U’s (US, UK, USSR) before 1941, only an understanding. And that was enough to blow up Europe (incl useful idiot UK), by intent, by the youknowwho and their clueless watercarriers:

dream on cloggo, nobody in the PBM/China fantasy groups gets along much. Even within the EU there is discord and balkanization. China has no offensive capacity to invade far off Australia. They may not have what it takes to invade Taiwan or they would have been in there already. It is not an easy job to invade island nations cloggo but you think all it takes are some missiles. The world is global and interconnected and China survives in this world so any disruption will destroy China. WW3 is just such a disruption. China is bluster. It will not be long and China will be dealing with internal discord with little interest in the near abroad.

“What Will The World Look Like After The Trade War?”
    https://tinyurl.com/t8aurfv zero hedge

“I am as guilty as anyone of fixating on every twist and turn of this epic struggle between the world’s two economic heavyweights. From the start, it has been a political conflict fought with economic weapons and is likely to remain so for the foreseeable future. What that means, of course, is that the economic and financial-market outlook basically hinges on the political dynamic between the United States and China…Consequently, the political calculus of both countries is coming into closer alignment, with each looking for some face-saving truce. There is always a risk that other complications will arise — recent events in Hong Kong and revelations of developments in China’s Xinjiang Province come to mind. But, at least for the time being, the politics of the trade war are now pointing more toward de-escalation rather than a renewed ratcheting up of tensions. If that is the case, and if a phase one accord is reached, it behooves us to ponder what the world will look like after the trade war…Deglobalization is unlikely…Global decoupling is also unlikely. Reflecting the explosive growth in global value chains (GVCs) over the past 25 years, the world is woven together more tightly than ever before. That has transformed global competition away from the country-specific paradigm of the past to a far more fragmented competition between widely distributed platforms of inputs, components, design, and assembly functions…Enabled by irreversible trends of plunging transportation costs and technological breakthroughs in logistics and sourcing, the GVC linkages that have come to underpin global economic integration are at little risk of decoupling…Trade truce or not, a protracted economic struggle between the US and China has already begun. A cease-fire in the current battle is nothing more than a politically expedient pause in what is likely to be an enduring Cold War-like conflict.”

Contemplating the decline of globalism real time is what the Sino American trade war represents. It is unlikely this real time trend is going to end globalism. It will likely adapt globalism further into a multi-polar economic world reflecting political realities of the end of American global domination economically and politically. A retreat of economic globalism is likely but more a retreat into regions. What this means is global value chains will remain but will be less pan global and more regional. One factor economist fails to address is net energy decline which will be a separate force of decline of globalism. This appears to be a longer-term force slowly eating away at global supply chains making them more likely to eventually go regional. This trend will also eliminate inefficient ones as globalism slips into economic contraction. Debt distress will be another force causing elimination of inefficiency. We have seen a process of easing and rate repression running its course. Negative rates are ever more present to address zombie corporate debt problems. In other words, companies for political and economic reasons are being kept alive to avoid cascading deflation of economic activity that cannot happen with so much debt outstanding. Nonetheless deflation will occur because of the damage easing and rate repression does to market-based capitalism over time with mal-investment. Real returns are not what is advertised so real growth is much lower than paraded by reporting agencies.

This all means globalism is a path dependency in decline and decay. It is carbon trapped meaning its underpinning is net energy defined. As net energy declines so will the economic viability of global value chains. As economic viability declines so will net energy because much of todays energy is economic. Energy is no longer a phenomenon of earlier times were vast oil giants supplied a growing world with cheap energy. It is now an economic value chain itself. Renewables are just an extension of this energy value chain being totally dependent on fossil fuels. This then represents an apex ecosystem brittle to change but suffering the effects of succession. Destructive change will now be a dominant force. Of course, the constructive change of further growth from techno innovation will be present offsetting and mitigating some effects of decline.

Destructive change will introduce abandonment, dysfunction, and the irrational into a complex world of complicated system. That will not end well because the effects of noise and turbulence are themselves destructive and represent a new and dangerous force if not battled continually and with great focus. So this means our path dependencies in globalism are a matter of cooperative effort or else too much competition will kill the host. This is the very danger of the US China cold war and or other potential conflicts. Now more than ever some kind of detente is vital. It is hard to see if this inflection point of declining globalism will result in détente. A détente might be characterized by multipolar political actions with economic regionalism. This likely could reduce conflict that could accelerate decline. Now is one of the most important of times for the world as we head into succession for détente.

Labor cost are a significant cost in solar one techno optimist ignore and instead boast about hardware cost declines.

    “Solar’s hidden secret: the data”

“And not only will each panel generate information about power production, temperature and other parameters, inverters, trackers, junction boxes will likewise produce continual streams about their current state or possible problem areas. At first blush, this might sound like a bad thing. More data means have to install more computing capacity or incur extra cloud fees. Data, however, can and will play the leading role in reducing one of the costs that has been seemingly impervious to technology advances. Namely, labor costs associated with operations and maintenance. Labor still comes to around 1% to 7% of total revenue for solar operations and labor costs and remain one of the largest expenses not linked to the original construction and financing. Again, it’s a function of the distributed nature of solar…Here’s another way to look at it. The third chart (below) shows the operations and maintenance charts for a 10 MW ground-based system. Those first two columns which take up 80% of the total are preventative/planned maintenance and corrective maintenance. Almost all of the costs derive from labor. In fact, nearly every factor on the chart except spare parts is labor related.”

Lofty goals that are very expensive treated a doable. Europe is currently at 20GW today offshore wind with talk of 230-450GW in 30 years. I don’t see it but this is an excellent resource to be exploited. Maybe they get to 100GW still good but not the transition paraded by many.

“EU offshore wind goals are achievable, with the right grid investments and spatial planning”
    https://tinyurl.com/s8uvsvq renewable energy world

“The European Commission’s goals for offshore wind – between 230 GW and 450 GW by 2050 – are achievable provided the right investments are made in electricity grids and governments take the right approach to maritime spatial planning. That’s the conclusion of a new WindEurope report called “Our Energy, Our Future.” The report examines where 450 GW of offshore wind could be deployed most cost-effectively around Europe, bearing in mind there is only 20 GW today. This goal is part of a European Commission scenario to deliver climate neutrality by 2050…Capital expenditure on offshore wind, including grids, will need to rise from about €6 billion a year in 2020 to €23 billion by 2030 and thereafter up to €45 billion. “The EU says Europe needs at least 10 times as much offshore wind as we have today to meet the 2050 goal of decarbonising energy,” said WindEurope Chief Executive Officer Giles Dickson. “The International Energy Agency believes offshore wind could become the no. 1 source of power generation in Europe in the early 2040s. The report shows that it is do-able and affordable. But three things need to happen: (1) the offshore wind supply chain keeps growing; (2) we build the grid connections; and (3) we get the maritime spatial planning right.”
