Kunstler: “That War You Ordered….”

The gaslighting of the American public continues, with Gaslighter-in-Chief, The New York Times, whipping up a frenzy of Russia paranoia.*

It reminds me of an old gambit in fly fishing called the “artificial hatch.” Trout like to gorge on mayfly nymphs as they rise out of a stream and shuck their nymphal shells to fly away as winged adults. The bugs do this in bunches, at a particular time of day, according to sub-species. This “hatch” drives the trout into a feeding frenzy.

A lot of the time, of course, there’s no action on the stream, so the bored fly fisherman whips his line here and there around a particular pool, trying to create the simulation of a mayfly hatch so the trout will wake the fuck up. It is, to be frank a crude dodge, really an act of desperation. But at least it gives the fisherman something to do for a while besides worry about missing another mortgage payment.

The Russia paranoia frenzy is serious business because it indicates that a state-of-war exists between the permanent bureaucracy of government (a.k.a. the Deep State) and the new Trump administration. There are features of the struggle that ought to be much more disturbing than the dubious alleged monkey business about Russia hacking the election and the hoo-hah around a single intercepted phone call between Michael Flynn and the Russian ambassador, made to open a line-of-communication between high-ranking officials, strictly routine business in any other administration.

Most disturbing are signs that the so-called intelligence community (IC) has gone rogue in collusion with forces aligned around Democratic Party functionaries up to and including former president Obama and Hillary Clinton, along with CNN, The Times, The Wash-Po, NBC News and a few other mouthpieces of the defeated establishment. Obama and Hillary remain conspicuously sequestered from this maelstrom, but they must be working their phones like nobody’s business. (Is the IC monitoring them, too, one wonders?)

Until his Queeg-on-steroids news conference late yesterday, Trump laid pretty low after General Flynn was thrown under the bus, but he must be plotting counter-moves, with Bannon and Steven Miller straining at their leashes, slavering for blood. Will some employees over at the CIA and the — what? — sixteen other IC outposts that stud the government like shipworms in a rotting hulk — be called on the carpet of the oval office, and possibly handed pink slips? How do you drain that swamp in Langley, VA? Perhaps with subpoenas? Surely Jeff Sessions over at the Department of Justice has got to be weighing action against the IC leakers. That shit is against the law.

The next disturbing element of the situation is all the war-drum beating by the same cast of characters: the IC, the Democratic Party, and major media. Why in hell are we antagonizing Russia? In the last month of Obama’s term — and for the first time in many years — NATO moved a bunch of tanks close to Russia’s border with the Baltic states. Do you really think Russia wants to reoccupy these countries for the pleasure of subsidizing them and draining the Russian treasury? In those twilight days of Obama, government officials made wild and unspecific charges about “Russian aggression,” and vague assertions about Russian plans to dominate the global scene. Major what-the-fuck there. There’s the ugly situation in Ukraine, of course, but that was engineered by Obama’s state department. Do you know why Russia annexed Crimea after that? It couldn’t have been for more transparently rational reasons. And what exactly is our beef with Russia in Syria? That they’re trying to prop up the Assad government because the last thing the Middle East needs is another failed state with no government whatsoever? What’s our plan for Syria, anyway? Same as Somalia, Iraq, and Libya? These stories about Russia’s intentions seem insane on their face. It’s amazing that readers of The New York Times swallow them whole. It must say something about the deterioration of the coastal gene pool. The story-mongers have a purpose though: to promote a state of permanent hostility, neo-cold-war style, to justify the grotesquely overgrown operations of the IC.

Note, too, that the new cold war benefits the thousands of ex-CIA personnel and retired US military officers who have signed on to work as Deep State IC private contractors in recent years. A new cold war is their gravy train. How about a congressional inquiry into the number of private security contractors selling their services to the Deep State, and exactly who they employ? Now that might be a scandal greater than Watergate, but not the Mike Flynn affair.

Have you asked yourself: what would war with Russia look like if the wishes of ninnies like Senator McCain and Lindsey Graham come true? Where’s the battlefield? Do we dispatch a few divisions over to invade Russia proper? Napoleon and Hitler already tried that… didn’t work out so well. And what’s the strategic objective? To occupy Russia and school them in democracy? That’s rich. Or do we go back to fighting proxy wars with Russia in various Third World backwaters as we did so earnestly in the 1960s. Another Vietnam would be grand, right? Just what we need. Or maybe a fifty-year-war like the one in the Congo. Or should we put aside all that penny-ante nonsense and just Drop the Big One, no a thousand Big Ones! Oh, wait a minute… they’ve got plenty of their own Big Ones.

Now, it may be the case that President Donald Trump is batshit crazy, but cooking up fake hostilities with the world’s second-leading nuclear super-power is a strange way to run a coup d’état against the White House. I mean, if it’s that bad, the generals and the senior spooks ought to just step up to the plate without further pretense and remove the fucker — as I’ve been predicting they would inside of sixty days from the inauguration. But then even if Trump is crazy and incompetent, what’s so great about a Deep State security matrix that refuses to be subordinate to anybody, that can do whatever it wants to whomever it wants? This thing is turning into a regular shoot-out at the OK Corral. If you know your history, you’ll recall that Wyatt Earp was hardly the eagle scout he’s depicted as on the boob tube. He was something of a thug, with a mad streak. Maybe that’s what it takes to stand up to the Deep State.

* Gaslighting — a form of manipulation that seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or members of a group, hoping to make targets question their own memory, perception, and sanity.

it may be the case that President Donald Trump is batshit crazy

Could you finally make up your mind, mr Kunstler?

At least Kunstler seems to understand that the deep state is far more dangerous than Trump is (in Kunstler’s imagination).

Interesting that Kunstler and everybody his mother are incessantly talking about the “deep state”. That cancerous growth is now so obviously leaning far out of the window that you have to be blind not to see it.

My message to mr Kunstler: enjoy the Trump presidency and hope that it will last long, because it could be the last of America in its present shape.

Remember your own brain-child the “Foxfire Republic”? That could be one US-style Euro-Maidan away, complete with an American “Bikers for Trump” sort of SA, just in case Trump would be JFK-ed.

  2. DerHundistlos on Fri, 17th Feb 2017 12:33 pm

Mr. Kunstler spends the first eight paragraphs condemning through speculation that Obama and the Democrats are attempting to push the US into WW III when the most outspoken advocates for aggression are establishment Republicans like McCain and boyfriend Lindzy. Further, if memory serves me correctly, it was the Bushie administration that equipped, trained and gave the green light to Ukraine to invade South Ossetia, which resulted in a military debacle for the American proxy in a war with Russia. I don’t recall the Dems. initiating a war with Russia.

If you are reading this, you’re still alive.
Stop complaining, it’s only been a month.

Does anyone believe DJT will be able to keep up this act for an entire year, much less four?

Still a true believer, watch yesterday’s ‘press conference’

Now, stop saying; “we elected a real nut-job”
(unfair to all harmless nut-jobs out there)

Huh??? You have to do some serious reading on recent history here, LoseHound.

I don’t recall the Dems. initiating a war with Russia.

Lowering EROEI. The debt is 20trln, interest rates at all time low, productivity at all time high so is the markets . This might be as good as it gets. EU quickly following US mistakes, UK abandoning ship.

What’s the strategic objective? To steal natural resources as in all wars the US waged. But there are also many nukes waiting in Russia for next Napoleons/Hitlers.

  7. Davy on Fri, 17th Feb 2017 2:27 pm

Bob, I loved the press conference yesterday. The media is horrible and liars. I dislike Trump’s narcissism but I sure like how he tells them bluntly how he feels.

  8. makati1 on Fri, 17th Feb 2017 4:27 pm

I saw a very prophetic cartoon yesterday of a man anxiously watching TV, but I cannot post pics here. It read:

“I cannot wait to watch the season finale of America.”

JHK has it correct. The U$ is in chaos and it is only going to get worse until … the finale.

Planter, you really don’t think there is anything about the republicans the “cheers” about do you?

  11. DerHundistlos on Fri, 17th Feb 2017 6:09 pm

OK, Clog, insert Georgia in the position of Ukraine. Regardless, the same facts and outcome applies. So other than a cheap gotcha moment for you, what’s your point?

  12. Cloggie on Fri, 17th Feb 2017 6:25 pm

My point is to keep standards high here.

  13. DerHundistlos on Fri, 17th Feb 2017 6:27 pm

This was left out of my previous post:

Sorry clogtard that the facts do not conform to your carefully contrived story line, but the Bush administrations bloody fingerprints are all over the invasion of South Ossetia. Georgia President Mikhail Saakashvili would never dream of launching a massive military attack against Russia unless he got explicit orders from his bosses at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. After all, Saakashvili owes his entire political career to American power-brokers and US intelligence agencies. If he disobeyed them, he’d be gone in a New York minnute. Besides an operation like this takes months of planning and logistical support; especially if it’s perfectly timed to coincide with the beginning of the Olympic games. (another petty neocon touch) That means Pentagon planners must have been working hand in hand with Georgian generals for months in advance. Nothing was left to chance.

  14. DerHundistlos on Fri, 17th Feb 2017 6:32 pm

Clog and high standards is an inherent contradiction in terms…….good grief, what a delusional buffoon.

  15. jjhman on Fri, 17th Feb 2017 6:43 pm

“Hillary lost the election and the Ds are sill angry she lost—-and that includes all the Ds in the government and the MSM.”

I’m not angry. I’m more terrified every day. I tried to watch the press conference this morning. I saw an ill-informed childish ego-maniac spouting delusions and “alternate facts” using the vocabulary and word structure of a 12 year old.

    Be very afraid.

  16. Davy on Fri, 17th Feb 2017 7:02 pm

Der Hund, it was the Georgia mistake that emboldened Putin and can you blame him. Ukraine was a Obama democrat/neocon compromise that again was a direct attack on Russia. These are the reasons we are now so close to war with Russia and the reason these deep state forces must be disrupted. These forces along with MIC are a danger to humanity.

Nailed it and why you need to be afraid if you are afraid of Trump.
“Glenn Greenwald Tells Truth About DNC: Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer Leading Collapsed Party of Shills”
    http://tinyurl.com/huk5ara

“Glenn Greenwald appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight Wednesday for yet another truth bombing after The Intercept co-founder, attorney, and author penned an article on the deeply flawed DNC’s inability to cope with loss. As Greenwald and others have pointed out since the election, Democrats seem to have a major problem with introspection. I get it – admitting fault means being wrong, and for a party built upon emotionalism and condescending moralization instead of facts and common sense, being wrong strips the self-righteous DNC of the one argument they’ve built their entire platform on; we’re right because we say we are.”

“From Greenwald’s article: A failed, collapsed party cannot form an effective resistance. Trump did not become president and the Republicans do not dominate virtually all levels of government because there is some sort of massive surge in enthusiasm for right-wing extremism. Quite the contrary: This all happened because the Democrats are perceived — with good reason — to be out of touch, artificial, talking points-spouting automatons who serve Wall Street, Silicon Valley, and the agenda of endless war, led by millionaires and funded by oligarchs to do the least amount possible for ordinary, powerless citizens while still keeping their votes.”

I agree. Now please tell me how the Republicans are different, because that fits my description of them as well.

Trump, on the other hand, does not fit that mold. He is a delusional egomaniac who cares about nothing except himself.

The anti-Trumpists want suicide.  Many of them have long been subliminally suggesting the assassination of Prez T.  They cannot bear the prospect of losing power, and will stop at nothing — not even risking nuclear war — to regain what they regard as their “right” to rule the earth.

The media Left is trying to push the proposal that Russia should be “punished” by using sanctions to force it into bankruptcy.  Around three-quarters of a century ago, the U.S. performed this trick on Japan after England, for the second time, turned a local European conflict into a major war.  The warmongering then president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, greatly reduced Japan’s oil supply, and secretly threatened it with attack, in order to push it into desperation and ensnare it into making its suicidal attack against Pearl Harbor.  Our cryptographers were perfectly aware of Japan’s plans over a week before 1941 December 7.  Those who willfully prefer to remain in denial about this perfidious crime of FDR need to read Robert Stinnett’s 2001 book, Day Of Deceit:  The Truth About FDR and Pearl Harbor.  Of course, the U.S. high command exulted in annihilating millions of non-combatant civilians in high civilizations by carpet-bombing and nuking cities.  It still does.  And the repeated trick (e.g., Fort Sumter, the Sinking of the Maine, the planned torpedoing of the Lusitania, the “Tonkin Gulf attack”) of provoking another nation into reacting badly to U.S. clandestine warfare against it is well known everywhere except in the saintly U.S. itself.

The result of FDR’s perfidy, of course, was our “successful” entry into WW II, with the ignorant backing of the deceived American population.

Apparently, the Left today believes that we can have another such successful war using the same strategic principle:  by ensnaring a sanction-driven, desperate Russia into a similar misstep.  (There is little public mention, of course, of the fact that, for years now, the U.S. has been readying the provocative introduction of tanks or installation of missile batteries in eastern Europe near Russia.)

The Deep State megalomaniacs apparently think that, after exterminating or bomb-terrorizing the populations of highly cultured peoples, they can easily replace them with obedient Sand Negroes, Spiclanders and black microcephalics from Africa.  Then planetary life will be paradise.  For the megalomaniacs, that is.

In the past six decades, the U.S. population has more than doubled — due to what the politicians and their toadies like to call “sustainable growth.”  Due to the same cause, world population is now over seven billion.  Meanwhile, Club-of-Rome authors Donella H. Meadows et al. have published Limits to Growth:  The 30-Year Update, explaining just where the globalizing Deep-Staters are leading us.  But no amount of facts or reason will deter the globalizers from their determination, no matter what the cost, to lower world IQ, devastate the biosphere and exhaust the earth’s natural resources.  Instead, following Georg Sörös’ “Open Society” tactics, they are pushing for ever more of the same.  Money and power are their sole aim.  Even if they have to murder Gaia to gain them.

In an attempt to save his face, lose hound launches a straw-man. I never denied the above.

HoundOnTheLose seems to think that I’m a Republican sympathizer; in reality I hated Bush even more than Obama. Notorious lefty HoundOnTheLose still seems to think that the fake Dems-Reps “bipolarity” has any other meaning than to give the boobs the impression that democracy is for real in America and an example for the rest of the world, where in reality both the Dems and Reps support the intention of the unelected AngloZionist deep state of 1 centure old that the resources of America should be used to ram the entire world in a single tax farm, run by the US deep state.

The good news (for European man worldwide) is that the deep state is walking on its last legs:

    Putin-Russia
    Rising China
    Rising Sunny Islam
    Defiant Iran
    Defiant Assad
    Internet bypassing globalist media
    Trump
    Rising populists in Europe
    Historic revisionism through the internet
    Petro-dollar meeting skepticism
    Economic weakening of US economy

…are all nails in the coffin of the AngloZionist deep state.

The republicans are just as bad as the dismal democrats just a different side of the same coin. The republicans have been dismal for years now. They are the white man class of science deniers, industrialist panderers, and skydaddy policy promoters. What is so weird about this election is just recently the republicans were being talked about as almost irrelevant. Maybe this is why the democrats became so cocky and corrupted. They smelled blood and turned dirty with greed. The demographics of the country have turned against republicans with women and people of color dominating. The republican irrelevance was deeper than demographics though. Republicans are off the charts detached from reality. We witnessed the last two previous elections with republican primaries I could not even watch it was so horrible. When you get VP’s like Paulin you need to start scratching your head. McCain is a madman and the Republicans wanted him to run the country. We would already be dead now surely because NUK war would have happened.

Trump should not be president in a normal country but this country is no longer historically normal. We are now in the surreal of insanity at all levels and all branches of government. This is what happens to civilizations in decline. America’s corruption and delusion is at the core now. The democratic soup of victimization with its corrupted multiple personalities of irrelevant identities is part of this. The Republicans were out of touch with much of the country and drifting into irrelevance but then we got the Obama/Clinton legacy that took the democrats down also. Obama was a Trojan horse of corrupt Chicago style politics with its compromising compromise and a public appearance that is a private hypocrisy. He acted concerned for the people but instead he was a liar and all about being elite. Clinton was a thief and likely a murderer. Watch house of cards to understand Hillary. Clinton was off the charts bad and the democrats loved her and many even to the end so that tells you how bad the democrats have become.

We now have Trump. He is no more delusional than any of the others in DC. Can you name one sane figure in DC, I can’t. Trump is no more narcissistic than Putin. He is not yet to egomania but the potential is there. Trump excesses depends on if a sane opposition can coalesce and that possibility looks dismal. Trump is a believer in America but unfortunately not a real America. The American empire is gone and Washington DC and its leadership are the ones delusional because of this. DC has become its own locus detached from reality that is the rest of the country and world. Trump is the best thing that could happen to the US at this point considering its reality of being a black hole of corruption. He is like the scene in the movie Platoon where at the very end they are being overrun and the commander calls in airstrikes on their position. Washington must be torn apart and destroyed as-is. I am not sure if something can rise from the ashes. Trump is that airstrike and God helps us. This may be the end of the country as we know it but I am pretty sure our founders would want it.

  24. joe on Sat, 18th Feb 2017 8:08 am

So whoes it gonna be? The US has to invade sombody, right? It’s what the deep state does. I thought the plan was obvious. Defeat Hizbolla by bringing down Assad, then isolate and destroy Iran by internal revolution. Chinas silk road would remain a dream forever and Russia would be next. Instead its Hizbolla threatening Israel, Iran looks stronger than ever, China is sending heavy goods trains to Europe cheaper than over the ocean! That’s not in the plan!

Although not a libertarian myself, instead more of e [deep breath] “green-right Dutch-European civilisationist with global reach in the mold of Samuel Huntington, latent anti-Christian with Roman-sympathies” (exhale now), libertarianism always had my sympathy. Today, the grand old man of US libertarianism Lew Rockwell once again makes the case for splitting up the US.

How about turning the US in a patchwork of countries, somewhat like Europe, which has 30 countries in a comparable area.

Since November 8 2016, European “leaders” are basically political orphans and for populists it is now open season on them.

Western European politicians and media bigwigs (stadtholders of the US empire in Europe) hate Trump, just like Eastern European communist politicians hated Gorbachev after 1985 and it took the Eastern European population four years to overcome respect and have a little fun with them.

Until that moment will arrive, Western European politicians need to be content with airhead Justin Trudeau, the new North-American darling.

Our entire system of credit and money came very close to full-scale collapse, simply because it didn’t grow for a few brief years. What we own to Denmark is immense.

First of all they showed as the way how to set up a society without fossil fuel.

And now they have passed legislation that enforces that the Denmark is for… the Danes.

This should go without saying, but in the Soros empire we are all living in for a few years more, nothing is normal.

In Denmark, what looks like a traffic jam, really isn’t. Some Danes miss the days when they used to use fossil fuels, so much so, that sitting in abandoned automobiles on the old motorways has now become a form of leisurely activity.

GregT, Cloggie is so …. (I’m not sure what to call it anymore) but his brags are pure bullshit as we both know. His society is based on billions of barrels of oil and billions of tons of coal, not to mention NG. He cannot prove that even 1% of their society is TOTALLY non-FF.

Do they use FF to make/build:
    Roads
    Bridges
    Railroads
    Homes
    Windmills/systems
    Solar panels/systems
    Food
    Drinking water
    Clothes
    Etc.

Importing most (if not all) of the stuff they use and need is NOT a “society without FF”. It is a huge lie. I caught him in the railroad one and he has not mentioned it since. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-02-06/renewable-lies-and-deception-dutch-commuters
