That is quite a complete set of figures.

I am disheartened to see that rising fuel prices over the past two years hve done nothing to shift people to public transit as their commuting to work method. It is in fact trending down. And even car pooling is trending down.

I guess its going to take fuel pump sticker shock like the early 70's to drag people out of their compacency.

Unfortunately, big oil and car manufacturers have done more than enough to destroy mass transit and keep it supressed. Until oil supplies become critical it will probably remain so. The best hope for cities in the future will probably be to become far more compact with rail systems becoming the dominant transport method.

US rail freight was very good though. I was impressed.
