Where to find Historical Production/Consumption Data

Unread postby OilyMon » Sun 01 May 2005, 03:30:58

I'm looking for historical production data per year by country as far back as it will go. I don't need it to be 100% accurate, but a good source is required. Any assistance will be accepted with thanks.

This page at the aspo is an archives of country production data. It's the best I can think of right now.

my spreadsheet of oil production, population, and gdp is in this thread. Oil production goes back to 1900.

http://www.dieoff.org/42Countries/42Countries.htm

this one will take you back to 1960 for the 42 countries posted. Click on each graph and it will give you the raw data.

Thanx for the graph link Pup, my only difficulty is the confluence of forces. Why do so many countries peak so close together? It seems very counter intuitive to me that so many countries could, each with a different resource base, manage to enter depletion all together.

You are right of course.

Keep in mind that the data from 1997-2005 in this link is extrapolated from Duncan and Youngquist's depletion model.

An interesting thing to do might be to compare the 1997-2005 data with "reality", that is the 1997 through current BP review values, to find out how they did. Maybe if time and energy permit, I will do such a thing when the BP review is published in June, unless you want to do it first.

One of Micheal Lynch's criticisms of the hubbert method is its frequent ability to not work and be biased.

Thank you all for your input.

pup55 that was almost exactly what I needed! 8) Is there a similar source for consumption information. I need to try and establish GDP as a function of oil dependency.

I dont know why no one mentioned BP stat. review.

http://www.bp.com/subsection.do?categor ... Id=2006480

They have country breakdown for production and consumption.

Don't trust their reserve data - it is political, and they admit it. But their production and consumption data is great.

EDIT: OMG I must be blind. 8)
