Russian Oil to Parts of Europe Suspended

Consumption

Russian oil flows to parts of Europe were halted after customers complained of unusual impurities in the crude, adding another disruption to the global oil market and pushing prices in London above $75 a barrel.

Poland, which receives oil through a northern section of the giant Druzhba pipeline, stopped Russian imports, saying shipments have become contaminated by organic chlorides. The halted section passes from Poland to Germany. Barrels were still flowing through a separate spur feeding several nations in eastern and central Europe.

“The level of contamination could cause physical damage to refining facilities,” Poland’s pipeline operator PERN SA said late Wednesday. Organic chlorides become hydrochloric acid during the refining process, damaging the plants.

The outage, which is very unusual, comes at a time when the global oil market is already short of supply of crude of similar quality to Urals. The combined impact of U.S. sanctions on Iran and Venezuela, OPEC+ production cuts, and lower-than-expected output in Mexico has reduced worldwide shipments of so-called denser, medium-heavy crude with high sulfur content.

Brent crude passed $75 a barrel for the first time since October. It was trading up 0.5 percent at $74.96 a barrel at 3 p.m. in London.

Short Supply

Organic chlorides are not naturally occurring and are used in upstream processes to boost output, “but must be removed before bringing crude parcels to market,” said Amrita Sen, chief oil analyst at consultant Energy Aspects Ltd.

The halted part of the pipeline delivered about 730,000 barrels a day of crude to Germany and Poland in the final five months of last year, Russian Energy Ministry data show. Flows to Germany via the link have also stopped, according to a person familiar with the matter.

In a sign that oil traders are scrambling for replacement barrels, the price difference between Brent crude for immediate delivery and the six-month forward contract surged to as much as $3.25 a barrel on Thursday, the widest spread in about five years. As much as 1.5 million barrels a day are at risk, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

The contamination issues emerged late last week when Belarus, which sits between Russia and Poland, complained that its refineries could suffer damage. The pollution issue also affected flows via the port of Ust-Luga on Russia’s Baltic Sea coast, a person familiar with the matter said Wednesday. Poland’s biggest refiners, Grupa Lotos SA and PKN Orlen SA, said Thursday their productivity won’t be affected.

The Druzhba pipeline is a vital source of crude for Europe’s refineries handling roughly 1 million barrels a day. It divides in Belarus, with the southern section supplying refineries in countries including the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.

Russia also exports from the port of Primorsk in the Baltic Sea, and Novorossiysk in the Black Sea. There’s no sign at this time that those shipments have been affected.

Technical Issues

Supplies of oil and refined products to the Polish market will be maintained from stockpiles until the situation is resolved, according to PERN, the pipeline operator. If the halt is prolonged, the refiners will import crude through the Gdansk port on the Baltic Sea, it said.

PKN Orlen said it anticipates the halt lasting one or two weeks. Issues with the quality of Russian crude supply are “technical” and should be resolved in “near future,” Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said Thursday.

Belarus told PERN about problems with the oil quality on April 19 and halted its exports of refined fuel. The country, which profits from processing Russian crude, is embroiled in a fight with its larger neighbor over an energy tax regime that it says could deprive its budget of billions of dollars.

Seaborne Option

Amid friction over Russia’s push for deeper economic and political integration, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko threatened earlier this month to close pipelines transporting Russian oil across his country for maintenance. Russia has said it may increase oil exports via sea if the Druzhba pipeline closes.

A spokesman for Russian pipeline operator Transneft PJSC didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. Ukraine’s state-run operator of oil pipeline and transit, said in a Facebook chat that flows are currently uninterrupted.

“There has been no improvement in the quality of Russian crude, it still does not correspond to the norms,” Marina Kostiuchenko, a spokeswoman for Belarusian state petrochemicals company Belneftekhim said by phone from Minsk. “Acceptable quality norms are exceeded several times, the situation has not improved.”

“Reflecting the fact Tehran seems to have no illusions regarding the utter folly ahead, the Iranian leadership — if provoked to a point of no return, Marandi additionally told me — can get as far as “destroying everything on the other side of the Persian Gulf and chasing the U.S. out of Iraq and Afghanistan. When the U.S. escalates, Iran escalates. Now it depends on the U.S. how far things go.””

If this happens, the EU will be for 100% dependent on Russia… with enormous geopolitical repercussions.

I can draw no other conclusion than that Trump intentionally is busy wrecking the empire.

“If Tehran were totally cornered by Washington, with no way out, the de facto nuclear option of shutting down the Strait of Hormuz would instantly cut off 25 percent of the global oil supply. Oil prices could rise to over $500 a barrel, to even $1000 a barrel. The 2.5 quadrillion of derivatives would start a chain reaction of destruction.”

“It’s an open secret in private conversations at the Harvard Club – or at Pentagon war-games for that matter – that in case of a war on Iran, the U.S. Navy would not be able to keep the Strait of Hormuz open.”

“Russian SS-NX-26 Yakhont missiles — with a top speed of Mach 2.9 — are lining up the Iranian northern shore of the Strait of Hormuz. There’s no way U.S. aircraft carriers can defend a barrage of Yakhont missiles.”

    Casus Belli: “Embargo”
    https://www.thefreedictionary.com/embargo
em·bar·go (ĕm-bär′gō) n. pl. em·bar·goes 1. A government order prohibiting the movement of merchant ships into or out of its ports. 2. A prohibition by a government on certain or all trade with a foreign nation.

Casus belli is a Latin expression meaning “an act or event that provokes or is used to justify war” (literally, “a case of war”). A casus belli involves direct offenses or threats against the nation declaring the war, whereas a casus foederis involves offenses or threats against its ally—usually one bound by a mutual defense pact. Either may be considered an act of war.

Aircraft carriers never travel w/o a fleet of vessels surrounding the command ship. AKA ‘Carrier Group’

While it’s true, SS missiles can sink an entire
carrier group, the issue of *MAD* comes into play.
The killing of six or seven thousand US Navy personal would almost certainly invite a nuclear response.

Doubtless Trump would first attempt to ‘take-out’
    anti ship missiles.

More to the point, oil tankers are targets so large, so slow, causing a spill, even sinking one (by either side, false flag) would be child’s play.

As for closing the Strait of Hormuz, yep, one or two tankers sunk in the channel would do it. Game over. That could be accomplished with a few old fashioned artillery pieces. It would create a nice oil slick that could be ignited by those same pieces. Months to clean up or move. No other action needed. The West would be toast. $500+ oil. $20+ gasoline. We shall see.

In other words he sets up the Oval Office as being so toxic, he’s a shoe in to retain power? Remember, for an insane narcissistic, once he has the top power position he’s likely willing to just about anything to keep it.

The ship RMS Titanic sank on Monday 1912 April 15 after hitting an iceberg late the previous night.  On Monday, 2019 April 15, exactly 107 years later to the day, the famed cathedral, Notre-Dame de Paris, symbol of the Western deepsoul, was destroyed by fire.

Many people have surmised that the sinking of the Titanic was a paranormal foretoken of the outbreak of WW I in 1914 and the subsequent suicide of Europe.  Let us hope that the destruction of Notre-Dame is not a paranormal foretoken of the complete obliteration of the remains of Western civilization — also by suicide.

Up to now I have been in favor of Trump, largely because the DeepState and its Hilarious figurehead was a worse choice.  However, now that the DeepState squid seems to have gotten Donald in its tentacles, I think the best choice on the political market is Tulsi Gabbard, who wants to take us out of the regime-change business, no matter what Yidland wants.

But that strange resonance between the Monday-April 15ths of 1912 and 2019 makes me uneasy that we may be facing something very serious.

I will repost a great article discussing “Brzezinski’s Warning To America” that sums up my feelings on a multipolar world:

  19. Davy on Fri, 26th Apr 2019 5:01 am

    “Brzezinski’s Warning To America”
    https://tinyurl.com/y6mjhj4q Unz Review

“The liberal world order, which lasted from the end of World War 2 until today, is rapidly collapsing. The center of gravity is shifting from west to east where China and India are experiencing explosive growth and where a revitalized Russia has restored its former stature as a credible global superpower. These developments, coupled with America’s imperial overreach and chronic economic stagnation, have severely hampered US ability to shape events or to successfully pursue its own strategic objectives. As Washington’s grip on global affairs continues to loosen and more countries reject the western development model, the current order will progressively weaken clearing the way for a multipolar world badly in need of a new security architecture. Western elites, who are unable to accept this new dynamic, continue to issue frenzied statements expressing their fear of a future in which the United States no longer dictates global policy.”

“Trump’s public approval ratings have improved, not because he has “drained the swamp” as he promised, but because he is still seen as a Washington outsider despised by the political class, the foreign policy establishment and the media. His credibility rests on the fact that he is hated by the coalition of elites who working people now regard as their sworn enemy.”

“Trade liberalization is not liberalization, it does not strengthen democracy or create an environment where human rights, civil liberties and the rule of law are respected. It’s a policy that focuses almost-exclusively on the free movement of capital in order to enrich wealthy shareholders and fatten the bottom line. The sporadic uprisings around the world– Brexit, yellow vests, emergent right wing groups– can all trace their roots back to these one-sided, corporate-friendly trade deals that have precipitated the steady slide in living standards, the shrinking of incomes, and the curtailing of crucial benefits for the great mass of working people across the US and Europe. President Trump is not responsible for the outbreak of populism and social unrest, he is merely an expression of the peoples rage. Trump’s presidential triumph was a clear rejection of the thoroughly-rigged elitist system that continues to transfer the bulk of the nation’s wealth to tiniest layer of people at the top.”

“In his 2012 book, Strategic Vision, Brzezinski recommended a more thoughtful and cooperative approach that would ease America’s unavoidable transition (decline?) without creating a power vacuum that could lead to global chaos. Here’s a short excerpt from an article he wrote in 2016 for the American Interest titled “Toward a Global Realignment”: “The fact is that there has never been a truly “dominant” global power until the emergence of America on the world scene….That era is now ending….As its era of global dominance ends, the United States needs to take the lead in realigning the global power architecture…The United States is still the world’s politically, economically, and militarily most powerful entity but, given complex geopolitical shifts in regional balances, it is no longer the globally imperial power”

“This strikes me as a particularly well-reasoned and insightful article. It shows that Brzezinski understood that the world had changed, that power had shifted eastward, and that the only path forward for America was cooperation, accommodation, integration and partnership. Tragically, there is no base of support for these ideas on Capital Hill, the White House or among the U.S. foreign policy establishment. The entire political class and their allies in the media unanimously support a policy of belligerence, confrontation and war. The United States will not prevail in a confrontation with Russia and China any more than it will be able to turn back the clock to the post war era when America, the Superpower, reigned supreme. Confrontation will only accelerate the pace of US decline and the final collapse of the liberal world order.”

I do find it interesting that so many Americans are obsessed with ancestry. It makes a mockery of the liberal Jew assumption that America is a melting pot and that genetic origins do not matter. Trumps version of MAGA consists of ripping off the voters and our foreign trade partners just as he did in his prime with a smaller section of the populace. The MIC cannot accept a less prestigious role in the power structure that is East based. Add in resource scarcity and climate disruption and you get a perfect stew for conflagration. Anyone who predicts that things will get better need to be looking at a scenario involving millions of years, not decades.

Trump managed to bring WTI down $2.50 by just asking KSA to increase production.

    1) projected greater production from Saudi is just exactly that. Saudi NEEDS $85. to pay for all it’s
adventures in Sudan, Syria, Yemen. I’ll ask, did KSA’s 100 Billion dollar weapons buys from the UK in the sixties and 200 billion since make KSA safer?

    2) Many petroleum observers believe KSA can no longer pump 10.5 MB p/d w/o doing serious damage to older wells.

    3) Besides all that, if Iraq and Saudi threw caution
and OPEC commitments to the wind today on command tweets from Trump, it would be months before all that ‘extra’ oil hit Europe or NA.

    4) To say Trump is ‘insincere’ would be gross
understatement. He knows, even day traders know, Trump is talking to his so called base.

    5) He knows, or should, inevitable higher diesel prices are
going to harm farm economies. Combined with labor shortages much of Trump’s ‘base’ is hurting.

    “they want Gibraltar back”

It would be a shame to have to kick their arses, considering all of those otherwise positive character traits.

Exceptiuonalturd, your DNA test showed you comprise a mix of pseudo–human, goat, and hill-billy. DNA doesn’t lie, unlike you.

You are mostly from the border area of Arkansas, Mississippi and lets thrown in Appalacihia for good measure. ‘Your Italian’ wife is half-goat, half-sheep in all probability, or w/e breed she happens to be. Not sure why you would have a goat analyzed. I can only imagine you sitting down with the goat and saying “honey, lets waste some of our limited money and get our DNA analyzed”.

If those ‘DNA’ sites, services told you were descended from the Queen of England, I am sure you would believe that too, dumbass. I cannot say I am at all surprised you fell for the ‘DNA’ scam, being the imbecile poser that you are. You do realize that most, if not all, those services are borderline scams in the united states of Fraud dont you?

There is a no shortage of evidence the ‘methodology’ these ‘services use, and their results are questionable to the say least. You should educate yourself on such matters, instead of subjecting us to your endless bloviating and feces flinging here. So no, I cannot say I am least surprised you think you are some sort of Germanic uber-mensh, based on a sample of drool you mailed into a DNA scam service. You know what? You should have sent in some of your goats spit instead of your own drool. They likely would have sent you the exact same results.

    dumbass.

It should come as no surprise that President Dump is a habitual liar. Between when President Pumpkinhead assumed office in January 2017 and the end of March, the average number of public false or misleading statements he has made per day has been increasing. According to the Washington Posts’ Fact Checkers, “for the president’s first 100 days, Trump averaged 4.9 false claims a day… since we last updated this tally two months ago, the president has averaged about 12 lies a day. Our calculations suggest that if the current escalation rate remains steady, by the end of his term the president could be making as many as nineteen public false statements a day, on average.”

Davy, why have your DNA checked? Don’t you know where your ancestors came from? I can trace mine back to the ship’s captain that sailed out of Austria in 1734 and settled in Penn’s woods before the US was born. I’ve been to his limestone house along the Susquehanna River.

Someone in my family actually drew a huge family tree that shows ALL of my ancestors and their kids and wives, etc. and I have a 3’x4′ print of it framed. Thousands of names and dates. The original is in the museum in the town I am from.

IF you truly come from a “wealthy” family, I am sure they have a detailed genealogy of their ancestors. But then, just maybe all of your brags are just huge piles of goatshit, as always. LOL

Truth, how can you tell when a politician is lying?

Answer: When he/she opens their mouth. So, what is new? Only fools believe campaign promises.

  46. makati1 on Fri, 26th Apr 2019 6:05 pm

BTW: We all have African genes Davy. What mixed in since then doesn’t matter. You are an asshole no matter what the test proclaims. Genes don’t change personalities. LOL

I have maternal and paternal lines that go way back makato. I have mentioned some of these but since you are pushing 80 you forget. I don’t have time to get you up to speed and you will just forget anyway.
