Libyan Oil Sector Suffers Output Setback
Output Falls Below 700,000 Barrels a Day After Insecurity Forced Largest Oil Field to Shut Down
Libya’s energy recovery has suffered its first major setback, with output falling below 700,000 barrels a day after insecurity forced the country’s largest oil field to shut down, oil officials said Wednesday.
The North African nation’s oil production had risen to 870,000 barrels a day on Sunday—nearly six times the level of late May—after deals with militants and protesters allowed fields and ports to reopen.
Production has been temporarily shut down at the 340,000-barrels-a-day Sharara field after a rocket hit a tank at the terminal it supplies, the Libyan oil officials said.
The port’s area in the city of Zawiya has been embroiled in clashes between Islamists-backed militias and their nationalist rivals. During a previous battle that ended up with the Islamists seizing Tripoli last month, several fuel tanks caught fire after being hit by shells.
Libya’s internationally recognized government and parliament are now rivalled by Islamist ones in Tripoli and were forced to relocate to the Eastern city of Tobruk.
Abdelmajid Shagan, a former engineer with Waha Oil Co., a Libyan oil joint-venture with U.S. companies, has been proposed to parliament as energy minister, according to lawmaker Musab Elabed.
Libyan officials have said the position of oil minister would be discontinued.

It’s funny how the United States State-controlled media needs to proclaim that the rebel Libyan government is Internationally recognized after the United States and Europe destroyed its cities, invaded its borders, overthrew (and assassinated) its leadership, seized its oil fields and gold, and is now exporting all its resources to American and European corporations.
This is another example of the Third World War being waged by the United States and Europe in Africa and the Middle East.
Forget Sweden, Iceland, Denmark, or Scotland… Libya showed how oil-riches are used to benefit the people.
But, you can’t have Africans showing the world how to do things right… because they are not exceptional. Look at their skin color.

You make some legitimate points about European colonialism and US imperialism but your claim that “Arabs have never done anything to Europe” is profoundly ignorant. For hundreds of years Arab pirates raided European coastal communities around the Mediterranean, burning and raping and carrying people off to slavery. The Ottoman invasions of eastern Europe were nasty and brutal, and reached as far as Vienna. Eastern Europe was conquered and brutally suppressed by the Ottomans. And armies from west Africa invaded Europe through Spain, destroying the Visigoth kingdoms. If it wasn’t for Charlemagne defeating the Moors at Roncevelle, we’d all be speaking Arabic.

Anyway, last I remember it was the same old shit with the US damned if the US does and damned if the US does not on the Libyan operation. IMA the Europeans spearheaded this operation and rightly being at their gates and an important supply of oil. Yet, the Europeans could not handle this undertaking properly without the US logistical support. I further add the Russians and Chinese scumbags felt Muammar was the greatest thing since slice bread and their great buddy raised holly hell about this campaign of the legitimate revolt of a population to a scumbag dictator. WTF you guys expect in that situation. A horrible dictator ruined that country for many years and you want to blame it yet again on the US. I friggen get so tiered of the hypocritical maggot anti-American spue here. I agree the US needs to crawl back home soon and get out of the business of nation building and world policing. But folks when that happens it will be in the context of collapse. IMA if the US decides to crawl back home quickly the resulting vacuum will be ugly and most likely strengthen the trend towards descent and collapse.

The first registered slave-owner in the United States was a black man. Fact, check it out. Arabs and Africans contributed largely in the slave trade for centuries (Arabs for cash, Africans to get rid of their rival clans). There is no lily-white race of any color!
As for the massacre of North and South American indigenous populations, Europeans set that trend before the United States ever existed. In actual fact, more died from diseases introduced than from the sword.
In the Caribbean, where Columbus landed, he did work people to death and torture them to find out where the gold was (it wasn’t there). He was European.
Later the British tried their hand at slave labor in that part of the world, using to a large extent indentured Irish debtors (white folks!) and had no qualms about working them to death or watching them die of various forms of fever.
American blacks, returning “home” to Liberia during that brief and unconvincing episode, treated ‘indigenous’ Africans exactly as white Europeans (and afterwards Americans) had treated them – as subhuman.
Get it together man … it might help you to remove some of those blinders you wear.
