Burning and burial seems like a silly and wasterful protest against giving nature back its due.
Why would you deny the insects, worms and plant roots the bounty of a buried corpse? If it were not for the embalming process the body would quickly be consumed by everything from decay bacteria up the food chain so why are you hating on the small life that lives in the ground?
Even if you cremate a body, if you scatter the ashes the chemicals act as plant fertilizer. The volatile components, mostly carbon dioxide and water vapor, add to the air food for the plants and future precipitation to water their roots.
