Here in Missouri, the river (the Missouri River... ) has been looking low for a few years now. I believe it is mostly due to all the droughts that have been occuring furthur up river, in the west. Right now, there is an especially nasty one occurring in the Dakotas. Oklahoma is still not doing to well either...ah.

It was a looming apocalyptic situation, but record snowfall solved the problems.

It's like 3 years ago Atlanta was within a couple weeks of being evacuated indefinitely, then the drought suddenly ended.

Now there's some worry about the huge earthen dams up on Missouri river that are all filled to capacity - the floodgates are being used for the first time in decades, and one failure could set off a chain reaction of dam failures.

Looking at Katrina, Deepwater Horizon, and Fukashima, maybe it's best not to scoff too loudly.

a student of weather will come to the conclusion that it is cyclic, not apocalyptic.

For the various civilzations that have been wiped out by drought in that area, it probably felt apocalyptic. The whole famine-warfare-cannibalism thing was more than "weather" from their vantage point.

A strict student of weather will never understand that it's a fundamental change in climate.

Some studies suggest that higher global temperature will lead to more extremes of regional temperature, precipitation/drought, storms.

Extremes are not expected to occur in regular cycles, rather it will be "chaotic".

There was ZERO chance of Atlanta being evacuated because of drought.

Yeah, and that same student would conclude that there are decadal/century long droughts recorded in the Southwest's biophysical record---google the Anasazi why don't you. They'd also conclude that the wet period the Colorado River Compact was based on is not representative of the average historical climate, and it certainly won't be representative of the future climate.

But it's clear you're a troll, so facts don't matter to you. Keep denying dumbass, keep denying.

"A strict student of weather will never understand that it's a fundamental change in climate."
But a person questioning the global warming faith would ask, "didn't they say this was not supposed to happen?"

"Colorado River Compact was based on is not representative of the average historical climate,
(but it's full again)
and it certainly won't be representative of the future climate (but its full again)."
