THE Site Server Status Thread (merged)

Unread postby Specop_007 » Sun 28 Aug 2005, 11:53:43

What happened to the server??
Specop wonders if the server was no worky worky for a while?
Maintenance? Webhost problems?
If webhost problems, Aaron should know Specop's offer still stands as is (was) offered if needed.
Course, anymore URL redirection takes long enough you can usually be rolled to a new host before your redirection takes place if propogation is running slow.
Specop has a love hate relationship with the Intarweb.

My appologies. The server has been crashing recently. There are a number of causes, but the main issue is the volume of site traffic. When it goes down, Aaron or myself have to be around to reboot.

We'll upgrade servers again soon. For those who remember the last 3 server upgrades, it's not a fun process.

From Specops previous experience, the solution usually involved firing the admin..... 8O

Best of luck to ya! 8)

:P :-D

On a serious note, can we get a bit of a notice beforehand so we're not all suddenly wondering what happened to PO? Please? :)

If we could predict when the server overloads we could...

The upgrade will be announced of course.

Aaron,
ask for money if you need it. We older members are here to serve.

(But only if you REALLY need it. I mean, being in TX, you can easily sit on a bottomless oil well owned by your family from decades... )

servers way out of sync

Unread postby o2ny » Mon 10 Apr 2006, 16:34:21

fyi, I just posted a message to a forum that wound up showing up before a whole bunch of other posts that were previously up there... my post had a time of 5:34 and the ones after me were 6:15, which means the servers are almost an hour apart.

Is it possible somebody forgot to update the clock for daylight savings?

Aint computers funny?!

I'd fix it if I could but the servers are at least 700 miles away from me.

But, I have a feeling the problem is being worked on. Fret not...
