I'm afraid so. I wanted to arrange some kind of official announcement, but I haven't been able to get hold of the senior staff. :(

RIP Bas. He had a good heart, this is really sad. We spoke many times and he helped me get through some hard things. I will miss his presence.

This is just horrible, we had a long talk last month and he told me about his girlfriend and how much in love he was with her. I wish I had paid more attention, it was just chatting between friends and I don't even remember her name. :(

This is so sad. He was one of the good ones.

Does anyone know of the cause?

This is Heleen (ex-girlfriend) posting for Bas:

Unfortunately it's true. Such a tragedy...
Peakoil meant a lot to him, as he was a very devoted moderator and poster around here. Just wanted to let you all know.

By the way.. if you see Bas online than that's me, checking his mailbox. Ferretlover, or who ever is qualified to do so, please close his account whenever you think the time is right for it. I certainly can't find it in my heart to do so myself...

R.I.P. Bas
See you in a next life!

Sorry to read this sad news.

RIP Bas.

He was the only peak oil friend on my FB. He was the only moderator I confided in. This is a huge loss for our community and potentially much more. He was 30 years old. Imagine what he could have brought to us over decades.

Wow. This is terrible.

I was quite shocked to learn about this news. I found him friendly and polite. I'd like to know more about his last days.
