I am proud to say that I am in AZ and I see two Arizona state government entries and qiute a few minutes for each. No, I am not part of the statistics.

Also, I will state that the higher ups in my County have no earthly clue as to what is going on. I hung up my OIL AGE poster I got from Global Public Media and all my Elected Official in charge said to me was Gee that's pretty, look at all the colors.

Of course there are going to be government employees on this site. After all, this is a government website. The whole purpose of which is to keep all of those that know about PO busy as the rest of America. Except we aren't watching American Idol. Instead we're debating about Expert titles, whether Kam or PA is the bigger douche, strange looking embassies around the world and other pointless topics.

Certainly. We work, we sacrifice and we reap bitter and sweet fruits. We are inextricably caught in the web of cause and effect. But this is bearable and even surmountable if we have a taste for that which is indestructable, hidden behind the veil of illusion. I think Peak Oil and related problems could help in lifting that veil, and I see this as a development onto which succesfull new government and religious organisation could be grafted. Already I see the Church getting up to speed in starting to interpret scripture within the context of environmental degradation and resulting climate change. Our energy scarcity predicament, though still generally misunderstood, will be found to mesh seamlessly with this effort, I expect.

I don't think that 'powerdown' scenario's as currently envisioned by the (ultra)greens will pan out to any great degree. There is little or no consideration for transcendence in them. Any successfull powerdown effort must include a well-founded and inclusive personalist religious component IMO. This will be essential to boost the self-esteem of the populace in the coming absence of affordable, largely escapist consumerism. As said: some of the churches within my field of vision (in the Netherlands) are recognising this and acting on it already.
