More scary than that, 1/5th of the world has gotten used to getting barely enough for working 6/ 12 hour days a week. This is the fastest growing percentile worldwide, the $5-$10 a day worker with bugger all rights and funeral expenses cover at best.

I watched Threads for the first time last night. Serious doom porn. The periodic narrative description of the rapid breakdown of society was interesting. Not sure how relevant the movie is to what we face, economic collapse is a lot different from instant apocalypse.

As a movie I think it would have benefited from better character development. There was only one character and she didn't really come through as a real person. I also don't understand the loss of language in the latter half of the film, that didn't make a lick of sense to me. The final scene was shocking and well done, though, glad they didn't try to wrap it up with a big happy face.
