Actually I think a turnip would probably be far too ethical and honest to ever make it to the white house. It takes years of hard work and dedication to make yourself into that big of a slime ball.

Now a well connected turd might have a shot.

The Turks have imposed three month martial law on its border region with Iraq and banned all civilian flights in the area. I think its safe to assume that something major is going on there. The lack of reporting in this in the western media is truly sickening. Some deals with the devil have been done to keep this quiet. Also debkas is reporting a bomb blast in Istanbul - some injuries but no further details.

PM Erdogan says cross-border operation on table

AGRI - “We will take the necessary steps (for a cross-border operation) because we cannot allow the PKK any longer to carry out attacks," Erdogan said in an interview with Reuters aboard his plane on Tuesday

So, their going official on this now. I've been following the Turkish news since my initial post and the headline were like "No Turkish operation seen for Iraq" and " Cross border operations ruled out".

There is a huge power struggle going on in Turkey and the military as always seem to be coming out on top. They can't wait to have the gloves removed and go after the PKK with everyhting they have. Watch this space.

The lack of western coverage here is amazing. There is zero mention on the TV news and very little online.

This must be a hoax or something because someone somewhere should have said something about 50k troops slipping into Iraq.

I don't believe those 50000 troops have crossed in yet, just pursuit groups of a couple of hundred but there are 250,000 Turkish troops ready to croos over if given the green light.

Okay, he's struck a nerve. We still need some corroboration of this before we should get too excited. How many troops does Turkey usually have on it's most unstable border? Probably quite a few. What does "on the border" mean? Bayonets set, eyes blazing, gnashing teeth - or within 100km of the border, sitting in barracks?

They aren't genuine Wildfires. They're just a convenient way to make land for palm oil plantations for Bush's Biofuel drive.

? Drudge obviously changed their header! When I posted initially it was about the 140,005 troops massing on the border of Turkey. One troop actually stumbles over a rock and fell into Iraq

Wouldn't he have had to check his passport or something, to be able to fall like that?

IHT

ANKARA, Turkey: Kurdish guerrillas on Wednesday staged a bomb attack against a military vehicle, killing two soldiers and wounding six others near the Iraqi border, the state-run Anatolia news agency said.

The attack occurred close to the Iraqi border, near the town of Cukurca in Hakkari province, Anatolia said. Military helicopters flew the injured to hospitals as military units in the region launched an operation to hunt down the attackers, it said.

Those troops are probably there to subdue the Kurds when the US decides to either partition Iraq or to put the Sunnis (read Saudis) in charge of the place. The Kurds are great allies now, but will make terrible liabilities when the time comes.
When it comes down to it, the people will always shout, "Free Barabbas." They love Barabbas. He's one of them. He has the same dreams. He does what they wish they could do. That other guy is more removed, more inscrutable. He makes them think. "Crucify him."
