And guess what, most Canadians look just like US citizens. They speak the same language, except more politely, and actually care about their country.

I'm glad you said "country" instead of "nation", because some of our citizens (mostly the younger ones) are starting to recognize nationalism for the anachronism it really is.

If the government won't act in our defense, the people will. Not because of some ephemeral concept like "Canada the nation", but because it's our own back yard.

Personally, I'm of the option that he would love to re-open NAFTA if he could find a way to just re-open it re Mexico, but probably not Canada. I don't think we've been a problem for the US the way Mexico has; our labour costs are a lot more in line with theirs. But there's really no way he can open it up without involving us, so I think it's something that will wither on the vine. I haven't heard anything about it in ages.
