Abbreviations

Unread postby EnviroEngr » Mon 05 Jul 2004, 16:24:35

I need some help getting all the standard abbreviations defined. Like:

I.M.H.O. = In My Honest (or Humble) Opinion
BTW = By The Way
BRB = Be Right Back

etc. Can somebody give me a hand getting this list put together. There's a bunch I don't know and it's fairly onerous getting them all looked up.

Thanks.

ROFL - Rolling on the Floor Laughing, is an alternative to ROTF

Two that seem relatively confined to this board:

SHTF - Sh!# hits the fan (the point where things go bad)
TEOTWAWKI - The End of the World as We Know It.

Oh, EnviroEngr, I'm pretty sure "puge" only means something to whoever made the word up, I could be wrong though [smilie=dontknow.gif]

What does this mean : <eom>

I always see this on yahoo finance message boards. Those posts always have no text other than <eom>. I guess it means that the title of the thread is all there is?

eom = end of message

The abbreviation informs the reader that the message consists of a subject and no body: clicking on the message will provide no further information.
