I am sure we will aid them sooner rather than later
Ayoob wrote:So let me get this straight. Iran has the oil, and we're going to side with Israel???? WTF??? How stupid is that.
What we should do is throw Israel under the bus and cut a deal with Iran for the oil!
The tail should not be wagging the dog.

Did we "make" them take out Syria's nuclear facility? Did we "make" them take out Iraq's nuclear facility in the 80s? They will do whatever they feel they have to do to insure their survival.

America doesn't have a choice.
[s]If[/s] WHEN Israel attacks Iran, they don't have the firepower to take out all 12,000 (known) targets in a reasonable timeframe. Any attack Israel makes on it's own will only wound Iran, leaving the bulk of it's C&C and infrastructure intact.
This would be bad for everyone.
America has 3 choices here:
1) Do nothing as Israel engages in an embarassing display of botched force projection, and watch the global economy come crashing down, not to mention the bloodbath it would create for US troops.
2) Force Israel to stand down. (Stand up to Israel? DEFEND IRAN? Somehow, I doubt it.)
3) Assist Israel and make sure it's done "right". It still crashes the global economy and still creates a bloodbath for US troops in the middle east, but it would be slightly less ugly.
