I saw something earlier about Cheney being in Kazakstan (sp?) on an oil mission. Something about creating a "powergrid"-I dunno I didnt read it, just saw it. 6 hours later I Google so I can read the article and it shows in a few search returns, but then you click and the story is NOT THERE or HAS BEEN CHANGED TO SOMETHING ELSE--man I feel really Matrixy right now...anyone else got a link or saw this story? It seems to have been pulled. Tell me Im not crazy-someone...

Kazakh-China oil pipeline opens

Kazakhstan will gain significant leverage in future deals once it has an alternative export route and a thirsty new market.

Ya think? I'd say Cheney and the other three that preceded him are there to beg, plead, bargain, and bribe for as much of Kazakhstan's oil as we can get. Otherwise, China gets about all of it, it would seem.

It's all part of the growing American-Chinese rivalry for what's left of the world's recoverable oil. It's kind of like a pack of jackals squabbling with a pack of hyenas over a carcass.
