SAVE THE PLANET

http://jimcolyer.com/@tracks/20/lofi.mp3

We're floating on a grain of sand in the vastness of space
If future generations are going to inherit this place
We've got to Save The Planet
Do something while there's still time
Save The Planet
This earth is yours and mine

The tropical rainforest is disappearing more everyday
We'll never replace it, we'd better not burn it away
Save The Planet
The wonders of nature are free
Save The Planet
Have you ever planted a tree?

If the skies are blue
And the oceans too
Isn't this a better home for me and you?
If the air is clean
And the land is green
Wouldn't you like to be part of this lovely scene?

solo

I'm thinking of the animals that once roamed the African plain
Their numbers have dwindled, pretty soon none will remain
Save The Planet
Do something while there's still time
Save The Planet
This earth is yours and mine
Save The Planet
The wonders of nature are free
Save The Planet
Have you ever planted a tree?

Save The Planet
Save The Planet
Save The Planet
Save The Planet
Save The Planet, Save The Planet
Save The Planet, Save The Planet
Save The Planet, Save The Planet
Save The Planet, Save The Planet
Save The Planet
Save The Planet

Jim, I'd like to reccomend that you reconsider this portion of your song based on the 2nd law of thermodynamics, which roughly states that "the total entropy of any thermodynamically isolated system tends to increase over time, approaching a maximum value." Or as Milton Friedman said "there is no free lunch."

Maybe you could change the line to "The wonders of nature and entropy."
It still rhymes?

Jim -

with respect, I think some lines need review.

I'm thinking of the animals that once roamed the African plain
Their numbers have dwindled, pretty soon none will remain

I'm adamantly opposed to the increasingly fashionable defeatism that is the latest excuse for Americans in general, and young Americans in particular,
to fail to live up to their responsibilities for the planet & its sundry occupants.

How about "its up to you if they'll remain" ??

Best of luck,

I always thought that "save the planet" sounds quite silly. The planet doesn't need saving, it will keep orbiting for a while no matter what we do. Even if you are thinking life on this planet, it has proved quite resilient to mass extinctions.

What about "save yourself"? Or: how much do you think you can f**k about with the environment without affecting things that matter very personally to you, such as climate?

Too bad your buddy Bush wants to pave over the rainforest, drill in ANWR (which you support), and desecrate even more land just for a buck. Could you care to get your values together?

Unless, of course, Jim wants to "save the planet" so that there will be more resources for the neocons to exploit. Then it would all make sense. :P

Turtle

Conservation and a sensible use of the planet's resources go hand in hand.
