Into the Wild

Unread postby onlooker » Tue 19 Sep 2017, 18:48:52

A update on the real story from which the book "Into the Wild" is based on
It turns out now that it appears quite conclusive that Mr. Christopher Mcandless actually died primarily from eating poisonous seeds of a type of potatoe. What is interesting is that it was hardly known that these seeds were in fact poisenous. They actually do not cause death but rather paralysis. So, he became too weak to walk and thus living alone out there in the Alaskan wilderness, he eventually died of starvation. Some apparently see him as hero, others as an unbalanced fool. I think this revelation probably tends to shed a more honorable light on him. Here is link to article. Oh and Plant may know of this story since he lives in Alaska.

Its a very well known story here in central Alaska.

Its so well known that one of the local breweries dragged a replica of the "Into the Wild" bus into their beer garden so people can sit in it and have a beer and take selfies.

Too bad the bus wasn't already set up in the brewery when Chris McCandless came through---he could've saved himself a lot of trouble.
