The only alternative, which I doubt is remotely viable, is "Chicken Coop Earth."

A very good friend, retired minister, did his Peace Corp work in India teaching how to raise chickens. He has gone back a few times. He will no more. He has been convienced, through his own observations, of the futility. He has been convienced of population collapse inevitability. You will find no more empathetic, sympathetic, or rational person on Earth.

Too many of these poor, poor folks are walking dead. It does no good for me to boo hoo about it. Trying to "save" them just assures more of them in the future. It's a mugs game.

It does not mean I'm not sympathetic or indifferent. Just rational. I know the pain, the sorrow, I just don't wear it on my sleeve like a badge.

Such is life.

It should be noted, though, that the poor have been trying to survive for decades through various means, several of which members of the middle class who are aware of these crises are discovering only today.

Much of the wealth of the middle class consists of money, and that becomes useless as things fall apart. In contrast, much of the wealth of the poor consists of whatever they can gather from their surroundings, which is something that the middle class will end up doing, and which survivalists and preppers are only recently realizing.

Given that, the middle class will likely end up doing joining the poor.

Yes Newf, yet your point is valid more population now means more dying later. So, from that point of view it is a humanitarian view. Oh by the way how is the sailing? Hope you and your wife are enjoying good weather and a nice peaceful time which I think the sea and lack of too much noise or people can afford you guys. :)
