I've heard that you're not supposed to post large articles, simply link to them, so I was wondering:
I have a 500+ word essay I was wanting to post in the rountable discussion. Can I:
a. Just post it
or
b. Put it on a webpage and link to it?

You can post long essays if it is original; posting only short snips of others’ work keeps us out of copyright troubles.

If the info is already posted on a reliable server, much better to link extended text than create a "scroll-fest" in a thread right?
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

No, but thank you, I recently got a web host for my gaming company, I'll just host it from there. It should be up later today or tomorrow.

The Rules of Peak Oil

Unread postby turmoil » Mon 27 Jun 2005, 23:05:54

Seeing as how we are getting more and more guests and members, I thought it would be a good idea to set up some rules. Feel free to add more.

The Rules of Peak Oil.

1st RULE: You do not talk about PEAK OIL.

2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about PEAK OIL.

3rd RULE: If someone says "fusion", goes insane, ignores someone...the talk is over.

4th RULE: Only two guys to an argument.

5th RULE: One TEOTWAWKI issue at a time.

6th RULE: No denial, no flaming.

7th RULE: The talk will go on as long as it has to.

8th RULE: If this is your first night at PEAK OIL, you HAVE to talk (after doing thorough research).

Might I add that the first rule of the planning for the future forum is "You do not ask questions!"

No. I figure the Planning for the Future forum is Project Mayhem. It has it's own rules.

Another rule - don't even mention zero point energy unless you have a complete mathematical understanding of QM, GR, & WMAP.

Lol great post. :-D

I love that movie, I even think it has a lot to do with peak oil (dealing with the mindset of peak oil, the insanity of our society etc).

Somehow operation mayhem is like peak oil, we all start from zero? (Well not really, but...)

As a new member, I appreciate the rules post. In fact, I feel a little like I've been punched in the face ever since reading The Long Emergency a couple weeks ago. [smilie=5zombie.gif] And considering the subsequent late nights reading these forums, I think I'm starting to look like it too.

I'd actually vowed to try and take at least a short break from thinking about this stuff, but then comes a major oil news day like today and that's right out the window. Made even the possibility of denial pretty slim.

Welcome, Atticus, to the world of the sighted! We SEE what's here, what's coming, et al. And you cannot escape it, because there is nowhere to go. Accept, learn, prepare. There are no other options, once you move from being a sheeple to a sighted.

Glad to have you--glad to have ANY new sighted one! Too few of us, and believe me, we do NOT feel superior! There's little to boast of in knowing that you know the end of the world as you know it is all but here. . . . :(
