As long as the ratio isn't roughly 10 to 1 in favor of retards.

It's more like 11:1, but don't worry, just ignore all my posts and you'll be fine!

Don't think we have any "retards" on the forum. The long term regulars are mostly pretty serious.. there's some fighting that goes on, but it's always the same stuff with the same people and has been going on for so long I don't think there's any real animosity.

Example:

Mos posts about some issue
Plant mentions Obama, posts a funny pic
Mos complains about Plant always bringing up Obama
Vision posts a crystal pyramid ancient alien astronaut reptilian brain pic that has nothing to do with the OP or Obama
Preston jumps in to argue the liberal point of view
Americandream rails against capitalism
I jump in and pick whatever side I'm in the mood for
Ludi comes at me with a funny one-liner
Somebody jumps in to argue reptilian brains with Vision
And by this point we all forgot what the thread was originally about

Rinse and repeat.

You pretty much nailed it, Six, but you missed evgeny and his Russia-Today style US-bashing, or the strain of anti-semitism and trutherism that pervades here. Sometimes this place resembles Who's On First. It's only a matter of time before someone shouts "USS Liberty!" or "hunter-gatherers had it better!" I can pretty much predict each person's response before they throw in their 2c, especially one-note posters like Planty who seems to have such a one-track mind.

Most everyone here are wind-up dolls that just do their little pre-programmed ideological song and dance and don't really listen to each other or alter their viewpoints.

Yea, I've already seen that. Everyone just waits for their turn to speak. Nobody really reads most of the other posts or thinks about what anyone else has to say. Typical.

If this is your first visit here, welcome.
While I cannot speak for LATOC, I can verify that our posters have very diversified posting styles, and that often leads to some active discussions.
We do discourage name-calling as it does not lead to mature discussions and/or debate.
Time will, indeed, tell.

Newbie from Alaska

Unread postby Yurt Lover » Mon 14 Mar 2011, 21:07:00

Hi All,

I have considered myself a prepper for at least 10 years. I prepped for Y2K and have canned, gardened, smoked meat and fish, dehydrated and generally stockpiled at least a years worth of food as long as I can remember. I am not religious.
I am very suspicious of the governments of this world and don't trust that they are honest with the general populous or are interested in our general well being. Simply put, I think the governments are in cahoots with big business and all are after the almighty buck.
So there you are. I brief and incomplete synopsis of who I am. I look forward to getting to know others who are like minded.

Welcome! Do you live in a yurt? I've been considering one myself.

No. We don't live in a yurt. And, we live in SE Alaska where temps rarely get below freezing.

If so, I assume you also regularly take the oil check from the government that you hate and distrust? You know, to sell beauty of your state to the oil companies?

I am the person who introduced YL to the site. As it happens, she does not take the check.

You are a real ass.
