In no particular order:

1. Taskforce Unity, for his lucid grasp of the geological and political issues surrounding peak oil itself
2. Montequest, for his intense, thought-provoking posts
3. Aaron, because he can say in ten words what it takes everyone else a hundred to say, without losing any effect or meaning.
4. Pops, for his excellent advice all 'round
5. Matt Savinar, mainly for LATOC, but he is quite a force here as well.
6. Arocoun, for his honor and humility
7. Jato, for his superhuman ability to fight B.S.

Others too numerous to mention.

Leanan - the facts right down the middle, with a Northeast perspective I value.

rockdoc123 - seems to be the only geologist that can present both sides effectively, the only drawback to credibility is his admission concerning the Grateful Dead (J/K!)

Unknown element has truly cracked me up lately, as well as the banter between spec, semlar, PMS vs. anybody else

Now that I think of it, it must be cool to have a fan club. I'm just too pragmatic to appeal to the vast public... :-D

Yay, I got a vote. Might get more if I start posting more than once every few days. But anyway, I think while this topic is still freshly revived, I'll take a little time to point out a few people who influence me here. The five whose posts I look out for nowadays, in no particular order:

--Matt Savinar [doomer]: For LATOC--which introduced me to peak oil to begin with--and his lawyer-like ability to argue his case. Too bad he doesn't post here as often...

--Monte [doomer, kinda]: Thoroughly explains many aspects of PO, sometimes pointing out aspects of it I wouldn't have thought of; has interesting ideas about politics and political history

--ashurbanipal [other]: Pretty wise; has interesting ideas on conservation, optimism, society's future, EROEI, etc.; makes people think (sometimes pissing them off in the process)

--Ludi [doomer with a plan]: Has lots of nice ideas, and her posts are generally pleasant to read.

--Seldom Seen [optimistic doomer?]: Has respect for and interesting ideas about nature; interesting thoughts about society

But really, most of the people here seem to be relatively good thinkers, and I like much of what everyone here writes. Even the hardcore sceptics and conservatives.

Seriously everyone, thanks for the mention.

I spend way too much time around here and it is nice to be recognized.

I would like to ask those who don’t frequent the Planning forum to stop by once in a while and lend some of your experience to folks asking questions – or even pose some of your own.

The big philosophical and scientific debates aside, the real world boils down to one’s actions and not their words. There is a huge amount of actionable knowledge here and a world of people that may need all the help they can get at some point.

Help us make the planning forum into a resource for the future.

Montequest/Aaron
Pops/Ludi/oowolf
Enviroengineer/Devil/Omnitir
Toecutter/PenultimateManStanding/Desertbear/bentstrider

Anything by Matt Savinar gets read automatically, first, before anything else. Ayoob is hilarious too. I_like_plants was pretty funny when he was around.

Oh god, you reminded me of this kid from another board. Every post he makes is an affront to the english language.
