I'm not much of a Gold Bug, but I got the remote land, garden tools and guns covered. Cattle now that's where I've invested some cash and I've done better then buying gold so far.

No matter what you own you need a stable society to keep it. Otherwise the stronger/luckier/more corrupt will take it away from you no matter when they decide it is to their advantage to do so.
