Ebola Scare In London

Unread postby PenultimateManStanding » Mon 22 May 2006, 13:01:40

The Mirror in the UK reports a case of a woman who died in London of ebola after bleeding out in violent spasms and vomiting the horrible black vomitus that characterizes this frightening disease on her flight into the UK from Africa. The book The Hot Zone was a best seller some years ago in the 90s. I remember reading that and being thoroughly creeped out by what ebola does to people. :-x Now the flight crew is supposed to be scared to death. Is the Mirror a reliable news source? I might have put this in Current Events but I don't know if this is real. If it's real, then there's going to be some very sick people in London. The story is linked at Drudgereport.com today. Looking at mirror.co.uk it appears to be a tabloid and perhaps this story is just a sensation-grabbing rumor printed to get readers.

I've talked to one of the guys who was directly invovled in the incident described in The Hot Zone.

Its absolutely frightening how close that came to being a very big deal, and how many fuckups there were during the event.

Yeah, the Reston, Virginia event. The virus mutated so that it was able to spread through the air in a monkey warehouse, killing the monkeys after spreading through the ventilation system. It turned out that the mutated virus was harmless to people though lethal to monkeys. That's the only thing that kept that situation from becoming something monumentally bad. Luck.

These articles are dated from last Saturday, May 20. If this story is correct and this is a case of ebola, this should be all over the reporting media. Is there nothing to it or is it ebola spreading to others in London? Strange.

A couple of houndred people die of Ebola every year.

400.000 people die in traffic accidents every year.

Why can't you doomers be afraid of normal thing like the rest of us? Taxes, wasps and spiders and things like that? Why does it have to be exotic diseases, zombies and Illuminati all the time?

Ebola is overrated as an apocalyptic scenario, zombies only exist in low budget movies and attacking the Illuminati will only make you an anti-Semite.

Worry about the US hocky team! Something has to be done there for sure...

The Mirror is not very reliable, although I'm sure they covered Paris Hilton and the fact that she gives head.

I bet this is true though, ebola kills relatively quickly and someone with those symptoms you're not going to prod about too much. They could die before they transmit, or maybe like the cold, once symptoms show themselves you're not that infectious.

Give me bird flu any day.

Sorry, but you have mischaraterized the significance of this story. my guess is that the story will never be heard of further, i.e. it's bunk. If it isn't bunk then all kinds of sinister possibilies arise such as whether there is a news blackout.

I thought bunk meant it was made up!

Ebola isn't that great a threat globally, would have happened already if it was. It is a horrible disease, I also think it could come to this country so hope I don't get it.

I'm in a good mood, perhaps I should go away before its too late.

Could the lack of reporting be simply an act of good judgement? I'm asking a lot there but it is possible.

I should remember to quote so it's clear who I'm addressing. That last post was in response to schwein. Anyway, I would sure want to know if this is true, that's what I'm saying. Ebola in London? That's big.

Respiratory transmissible Ebola would be bad news. Why has the department of HHS just "deployed" an undisclosed amount ot Tamiflu to an unidentified Asian nation (probably Indonesia)?? Why are 13,000 residents of Bucharest, Romania under H5N1 quarantine? Lethal H5N1 now in Iran.

I heard on the radio yesterday that cases of birdflu in the far east where it started are greatly diminished and that the westward spread was petering out, too.

On topic:

Has Ebola replaced bird flu now as the disease which will kill us all this month? Or are you saving it for June?

Ebola can "cross" with H5N1, it happened in China last year-but was so deadly it quickly died out. This was reported on recombinomics.com
