SeaGypsy's hiatus, reality check

Unread postby SeaGypsy » Mon 11 Aug 2014, 23:46:33

Hi y'all :)
Guessing by now some folks here may have been wondering what the heck happened to SeaGypsy?

Well some will recall my last posts months ago ranting a bit about Islamic extremists. The chickens on the horizon have come home to roost.
I have for the last few years been anticipating ELM based societal breakdown particularly in the MENA. When underground news sites started daily postings of the extreme behaviour of the early shoots of what has emerged as the New Caliphate, I became quite convinced these represented the new enemy unmasked.

My interest in base resource economics has waned substantially over the last year or more. I guess the old hands here would put it as I'm already in popcorn mode. I believe we are on the threshold of a drama of untold proportion.

On a personal note, I'm now 4 months out of my marriage, 4 months into a new career, from glass arts to aboriginal arts to nursing to transport to civil construction, maintenance scheduling, remote infrastructure. I haven't been online much at all lately and have mostly killed off my online presence.

I hope all the old hands here are well and prospering.
Cheers! SG

PS I'm back in the remote NT, where I was when I started here. I spend half the work day driving around checking installations & data logging, the other half
at the nearest spring, lake, waterfall. The life of Reilly as they say in Oz.

G'day mate and wb

Good to hear alls well. I wouldn't worry about the Islamists. They come with a price tag and capitalism is oh so affluent.

Take it easy and good to see you back.

Good to see you are still kicking , As for your new focus , no problem , it's all part of the same continuum
nobody should believe problems are on a single dimension ,
as you are around the territory , you can observe that black swans come in flocks

Yair . . . SeaGypsy .

Its good to hear from you. Half your luck and a bit of good management to be where you are I reckon.

You are in God's own country especially this time of the year.

Bloody near brings tears to my eyes . . . barra wings or some buffalo brisket in the smoker looking out across some lagoon or bend on the Roper . . . . . its a bastard to be getting on a bit.

There is more to life than money but I guess you know that, enjoy the freedom and good times while you can.

Cheers.

I highly recommend doing this at regular intervals in ones life otherwise you become trapped.

Glad to hear you're still kickin, SG

Water buffalo?

Yeah . . . and you can get to the fillets quick and easy with a chainsaw, they are not so good for smoking though, better on the grill.

Cheers.

Scrub Puller, Shaved Monkey,

Well of course, every proper barbecuer has a chain saw handy. Stands to reason.

NT would have to rate as the least likely place to starve on the planet. 2/3rds desert full of camels, donkeys, goats, plus natives like wallabies & many reptiles, 1/3rd tropical savanah replete with wild pigs, more goats & donkeys, crocs & among the worlds best fishing. Having just over 200k people to an area bigger than western europe makes it one of the least populated places abundant with life other than human on the planet:-)

You were right about how bad these ISIS are.

Those old Syria discussions we had, you were right, I was wrong, you were right about how bad the ISIS whatevers are and then they went and made a caliphate. You really turned out right on that.

Nice to hear from you SG, you sound happy and doing well!
