I adressed this issue several times on skyscraperpage.com and skyscrapercity.com. Trying to convince a group of city guys that it is best to move to a rural area is ... difficult.

this is such an important interview for me - it was what started my whole introduction to peak oil and also for investing for the future.

keep up the great work Matt (and Jim.. and Monte).

Savinar On The Radio Saturday

Unread postby PenultimateManStanding » Sat 03 Sep 2005, 01:34:34

The first time I ever heard about Peak Oil was when Matt Savinar was on Art Bell's Coast To Coast AM last year. Now a whole new bunch of people are going to hear about it on Saturday night when he's on the same show again to talk about 'oil issues', i.e. Peak Oil.

Savinar comes on the air to talk about peak oil in about 20 minutes. I'm interested to see if he has anything to say that I haven't already heard.

I have it on 950 KOZE right now. Just waiting for him to start. Time now is 2215 PDT, and the guy (It ain't Art or George), is talking about sheep feed for the "Wierd News" segment. Oh yeah, and something about CJD. I think they are talking about the origins of Mad Cow disease. I assume Matt will start at around 2300. That is usually when the "featured guest" starts.

I'm listening slavishly, so far, I'm learning about The Ohio Scream (no Dean didn't do it, unless he roams in the woods at night) and the new Lancet paper on how mad cow disease may have come from India, where dead human bones are mixed with cow bones and sold to the British.) No Matt Savinar...

Right, K_sem. Have to wait a while longer. Seems like Art Bell doesn't do his own show too much anymore. Oh well, it's Savinar I want to hear anyway.

I just like Art Bells voice and radio etiquitte. When he is on he gives the sound of a very intellgent and inquiring man, but abe to put emotion into questions / responses to get more listener attention, and better responses from the interviewed guest. The guy they have on now, (not George Noory), reminds me of just some guy out of college with only interview experience. He has the professional attitude, just not the personality required to get the audience to hang off of every word. George and Art are very good at what they do. This new guy is just a REMF, IMHO.

I agree with you about George and Art. What did you think of what Hoagland was saying? Chilling and grim assessment: the Federal Government is incompetent and so badly wrapped up in red tape that nothing can get done. We've seen it before and its getting worse.

I'll agree, the feds are so wrapped up in red tape that they are chocking thier neighbors to death. This government buracacy will be the fall of LA, and a great blow to the nation's faith in thier ability as a whole. And this was just a localised Hurricane. What happens if Al-Queida detonates a dirty bomb over downtown LA, or even in the SuperDome when there are evacuees there? Since they can't handle a natural event of nature, what evidence do I have that they could handle a man-made disaster that would literally kill MILLIONS of people? I'm personally suprised that more people have not made the connection regarding actual emergency and the governments. The socialist system which seems so tempting to the population, (let the government be responsible for your problems), will be the very downfall of our nation. Too much trust and reliance on exterior influences. As I once read, "The helping hand of God can be found at the end of your arm."

If you are able, but refuse to help yourself, (you can unless you are nursing home resident material), why the hell should I or anyone else go out of thier way to help them? They had the means, will, and power to survive the disaster and evacuate in a orderly fasion. They chose not to do so. So why should I care one god damn bit what happens to the lazy people? If they are truly incompitent, that is one thing, but governement and the people cannot be expected to rescure able but lazy people. As far as I am concerned, if you are not impared, (other than your work ethic), and still refuse to evacuate, they are on thier own. I don't go begging because I want my gas to be free. I WORK FOR IT.

Also, time is 23:24. Matt got on at 2313. He is on till the end of the show, (0200 PDT).
