I find it extremely hard to believe and think its just b.s. journalism. I hope our UK members can tell us more about this paper, even the reporter, and even this rumor should be reported all over English news right about now. So, anything besides this one article?

Iran bombers attack Our Boys

Unread postby Roccland » Tue 26 Jun 2007, 01:03:25

huh??!!

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2007290279,00.html

Last night an intelligence source told The Sun: “It is an extremely alarming development and raises the stakes considerably. In effect, it means we are in a full on war with Iran — but nobody has officially declared it.

“We have hard proof that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps have crossed the border to attack us.

“It is very hard for us to strike back. All we can do is try to defend ourselves. We are badly on the back foot.”

I hate to break this news, but we've been at war with Iran in Iraq for quite a while now. Iran is the regional bully for China/Russia. So we're in an indirect war with China/Russia.

Whoever controls the oil of the middle east controls the fate of industrial societies.

How do so many smart people on this forum have such a simplistic and naive understanding of warfare?

Holy crap. Time to break out the popcorn and gin.

I made sure it got submitted to Fark, so we will see how fun that this gets.

Would the first strikes in retaliation start tonight? Or tomorrow?

So far the only source for this seems to be "The Sun".
All other articles that I can find (using Google news) seem to be copies of the Sun article.
Oilprice is also flat to down so far.
I think I'll save my popcorn for later....

It is good for those with bad eye sight or those who are learning to read (the front page is usually taken up with a heading of four or so short words in large thick lettering plus a vivid picture). Also many men find the page 3 [smilie=5censored.gif] is a page they must 'read' 8O

It is not a paper that I would buy.

I agree with the other comments: the Sun is part of Rupert Murdoch's News International (gives you Fox News) and cannot be trusted.

IMO this is just part of the global media banging of wardrums against Iran. Notice the lack of *actual evidence* that Iranian troops crossed the border - do we have pictures of them waving the Iranian flag? Or do they all wear "We <Heart> Ahmadinejad tee shirts?" /sarcasm.

It is notable that all this "hard proof" of Iranian involvement in this and that turns out to be illusory.

Once when I was a little boy, me mum caught me wiping my bum with The Daily Mail. She said, "No, no, Carlhole... Use a bit of this barmy malarkey!" And she handed me a few pages of The Sun.

While I totally agree that this story needs to be confirmed.

I have seen many times when these ran mags have run a story only to see it confirmed a few days later by more reputable publications.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Where I work, you could be court martialed for reading a paper like the Sun. It's a guilty pleasure you get sometimes, to read the letters page and look at page 3 when you find it lying around in the other ranks quarters.

Iran and Iraq set to build oil pipeline

Unread postby mattduke » Sun 12 Aug 2007, 17:56:47

IRAN. Iran and Iraq will sign a deal to build a pipeline that would transfer crude oil from Southern Iraqi oilfields to refineries in Iran.

Iraq announced in May that it had agreed to begin discussions with Iran over the pipeline that will carry 200,000 barrels of Iraqi crude oil to Iran per day.

"Based on this contract the Iraqi crude oil will be imported and oil products will be exported," Iran's First Vice President Parviz Davoudi told reporters. He further added that Iraqi Oil Minister Hussain al-Shahristani would visit Tehran in the coming days. Davoudi was speaking after talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri AlـMaliki who visited Tehran on Wednesday and Thursday.
