Kunstler: Summer of Tough Love

Public Policy

The golden Colossus of Trump looms over the national scene this summer like one of Jeff Koons’s giant, shiny, balloon-puppy sculptures — a monumental expression of semiotic vacancy. At the apogee of Trumpdom, everything’s coming up covfefe. The stock market is 5000 points ahead since 1/20/17. Little Rocket Man is America’s bitch. We’re showing those gibbering Asian hordes and European café layabouts a thing or two about fair trade. Electric cars are almost here to save the day. And soon, American youth will be time-warping around the solar system in the new US Space Corps!

Enjoy it while you can. Events are converging ominously this summer in the direction of unwinding expectations and serial train wrecks of finance and politics. Mr. Trump has made hubris simple by bragging on the supposed triumphs of “his” economy. When it blows up, he’ll own that, too, and the second half of 2018 liable to be a debris-field of shattered national economies, zombie corporations, and floundering institutions.

A new supreme court justice will be the very apex of Trump triumphalism, but whoever the pick is will goad the Democratic “progressives” to new depths of antagonism, so expect more street-fighting by the black-masked Antifa forces during the senate confirmation debate. Some sort of martial law will be invoked by a governor, or perhaps even the president himself. Initially that would amount to little more than curfews, but they’ll be ignored, and then the fun will really begin. Think: national guard troops and angry clashes. The tone will be low, and sinking fast.

If Antifa acts up the way I anticipate, it will drag the Democratic Party closer to extinction. The party celebrated a week ago over the rise of Evita Peron wannabe, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Her youth and glamour intersect with her socialism, a doctrine that caused more human deaths in the 20th century than all the religious wars of the previous centuries. What’s not to like about it?

The blowup of the bond and stock markets later this year will put to a gloomy rest the ludicrous notion that America has been enjoying a great economic boom. It’s actually been an engineered hallucination, thanks to the global monetary authorities applying the magic of limitless credit to a bad habit of credulous speculation. The central banks have launched a program of so-called “quantitative tightening (QT)” — an idiotic phrase meant to counterpoise the equally fatuous “quantitative easing (QE),” PhD economist-speak for grotesque interference in the bond markets — that will choke down the credit supply at exactly the moment that governments and giant corporations need new loans to pay the interest on old loans. The trajectory there is obvious.

The big question, of course — hardly ever asked in the public arena — is what that will do to currencies, i.e., money. It can really only go two ways: either make money very scarce, in which case a lot of people and enterprises go broke, or, if the monetary authorities respond to the predicament by enabling a return to bottomless credit issuance, the money will become worthless — they’ll be plenty of it, but it won’t buy much. Such a turn of events will make an already-unhinged nation fly apart.

Lurking in the background of all this are several other consequential movements, trends, and troubles. One is the fate of the European Union. The quarrel over migrants from the Middle East and Africa will not be resolved happily. Germany and France will not succeed in bullying countries like Austria, Hungary, and Poland into absorbing more of these strangers. The more the EU pushes, the more they will feed nationalist sentiment in these places. And of course all the Big Dawgs of the EU are already stuck with millions of newcomers they foolishly invited the past several years, and all the problems they brought with them.

Another plot-line deep in this summer’s story is the movement of oil markets. Recently, the trend has been for rapidly rising oil prices. As they approach the “magic” $75-a-barrel mark, you can be sure they will squash economic activity — which is already being hammered by the uncertainty unleashed by trade-and-tariff shenanigans. If the oil price heads back over $100/barrel you can just forget about maintaining the business status quo — and even at that price the shale oil companies won’t make a red cent. Of course, they’ll also have a tough time getting new loans, which is the only thing that kept their operations going for the past ten years.

Oh, yes, there is also that Hieronymus Bosch Garden of Earthly Delights known as the Mueller Investigation, with its dreary outposts in the executive suite of the FBI, and all the tangled mysteries entailed there. Mr. Mueller will come up with someone to indict on something, even if it’s ninety-seven ham sandwiches. I suspect Mr. Trump will manage to dump Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein. And then the pardons will fly, like so many winged demons flapping from the mouth of Hades. Constitutional crisis may be too mild a word for what ensues.

By holiday time in early winter, much will clarified about the actual direction of the country. By then, the “Walk Away” movement may even include the obdurate shills at CNN and The New York Times, and the Intellectual-Yet-Idiots on the college campuses. And the Golden Golem of Greatness will lie upended in the swamp that he just didn’t try hard enough to drain.

Belgium has just beaten top-favorite Brazil and France Uruguay. Now there are 6 teams left at the 2018 World Championship Soccer in Russia, all European. Not that it would be immediately obvious after closer inspection of the teams, with the exception of Russia, Croatia and, yes, Sweden.

50 years after decolonization, Europe completely dominates “world” sport #1.

“it will drag the Democratic Party closer to extinction”

The Party is at a stage of uncertainty, pessimism and loss of confidence equivalent to a personal passage of self-destruction. This journey might lead to creative insight on a new way forward that results from complete failure or it may be the end of the party as we know it. It is too early to tell.

He is afraid of repercussions, even personal repercussions. In one of his latest columns Kunstler referred to “personal criticism” because of said ancestry.

He is not the only one:

The world is no longer exclusively “guided” by mass media. There is now a parallel world, where everything can be discussed, circumventing mass media.

Then why won’t you allow comments on your blog? And why wont you ask an independent historian about your WW2 conspiracies?

Put it to the test fat boy!

You know all about parallel words dont you cloggen-yid. After all you’ve been describing it endlessly here, for years. While It sounds like a great place to be, what with its electric airliners and discount fares to Israel, moonbases, zero-point energy, flying robo-cars and all the great things that exist in your parallel Earth, Im not sure why you ever left it in the first place. This world, bears little resemblance to the one you keep yammering on about, though I suppose it does sound kind of grand, but only IF one is dumb, or autistic enough to accept anything you crap out at face value.

Is your problem, that windmills and solar are not generating sufficient energy to power your parallel universe transporter? Is that what your problem is(besides raging autism), that you cant go back where you came from?

It appears that some here are simply afraid to read the writing on the wall that Kunstler has put there. The economic, political, social phenomena he mentions are all real and imminent.

What here could possibly make Kunstler seem as a fascist? Criticism of Socialism cannot be indicative of a Fascist, because Fascism is Socialism. [The merger of State and Corporate powers – a la Mussolini: how about Hitler’s National SOCIALIST party?]

What about a seeming put down of Antifa? Antifa = Anti Fascism, right? But these are the most fascist, violent, anti-intellectual, intolerant thugs we have ever seen from the Left in this country. They even wear masks and hoods, in the fashion of the maligned KKK.

Let’s understand that if you oppose fascism but become Fascist in expressing your ideology, then you yourself have become the enemy, a Fascist. No, criticizing Antifa does not rise to an indicator of Fascist.

You’ll have to spell it out for some of us, MM. Where do we find the Fascist in Kunstler?

  12. DerHundistLos on Fri, 6th Jul 2018 7:49 pm

Davy, funny how your critical comments and conspiracy theory prognostications always focus on your favorite party. Never a negative word concerning the Cons- never. Why? Oh I forgot, the Republicon party’s adoption of Trumpism portends certainty, optimism, and a bright future.

You would be better off focusing on your own morally bankrupt party before offering Fox News fair and balanced criticism of others.

Watch the shocking Discovery Channel/BBC documentary posted to YouTube titled, “Conspiracy of Silence” about the widespread sexual abuse of the boys at Boys’ Town by numerous national Republican politicians and wealthy Republican donors (Note: my nephew was sexually abused by these Republicon perverts when he was 14/15 and was so disturbed that he committed suicide at age 17). You will hear former Republican Nebraska State Senator and chairman of the state committee charged with investigating the affair, Loran Schmit, state that the pedophilia reached the highest levels of the Republican Party. Despite tremendous pressure from the Reagan Whitehouse and RNC to bury the scandal, Senator Schmit refused to be intimidated. The senator was so shocked and disgusted by the findings of the investigative committee that he resigned from the Republican party and returned to farming. Thank you, Senator Schmit, for your integrity.
The Republican National Committee attempted to whitewash the Boys’ Town scandal by purchasing the documentary’s publication rights for a monumental sum; fortunately, a few copies were leaked before the evidence could be destroyed. Sadly, few people are aware of the Boys’ Town tragedy, which is why I am doing everything possible to make the public aware of the facts.

Here is the YouTube address for the documentary, “Conspiracy of Silence”:

  13. DMyers on Fri, 6th Jul 2018 8:05 pm

Derhundistlos, it’s always fair to point out another’s biases. But I disagree with your attack on Republicans, as it is framed, in terms of their sexual misconduct. Democrats are no better. I’m neither, and that is why.

Bill Clinton was a rapist, and there is ample evidence of that. You think Harvey Weinstein is a Republican?

  14. DerHundistLos on Fri, 6th Jul 2018 8:16 pm

Kunt’s forecasting has proven to be miserably wrong. His cumulative grade is 3% correct or a F-. I could do better being blindfolded throwing darts to select the correct outcome. Kunt is a perfect contrary indicator.

  15. DMyers on Fri, 6th Jul 2018 8:39 pm

DerhundistLos, I don’t see how he can be wrong with this batch of predictions.

DMeyers, some refuse to even look out of their indow. They fear what they might see. Most Americans are in denial that anything serious can happen in the Us. Most of those who lived thru the Great Depression are gone. Ditto for those who fought in WW2. The Us is ripe for another go with both a world war and a great depression. No one remember how it was then.

I see all of the cards shaking dangerously in the Us. The only question is which one goes first and when. Maybe all of them, and soon. We shall see.

    2020 743,390,045 +.04%
    2025 742,543,943 -0.05%
    2030 739,455,618 -0.11%

    2055 707,627,727 -0.24%
    2060 698,571,108 -0.26%

These figures are also based on the continuance of immigration at current rates. It’s very clear that without immigration European population would fall substantially due to low birth rate. Falling population means falling “growth” and economic collapse.

Kunstler is sounding more like Alex Jones every day, joining with the nutjob fascist’s and their weird democrat conspiracy hypothesis’s and pro-Russian trop.

I’m not sure what superstition has to do with any comments here MM. “What goes around, comes around” is generally reality. If you beat a dog, eventually it is going to turn and bite you. You don’t have to believe in something to make it real. It just is.

You live in a country that is fast becoming the most hated in the world. How do you think that is going to end? Rainbows and lollipops? Dream on!

Wouldn’t it ruin your plans for suicide, if the Us just slides into a 3rd world dictatorship and your ass gets ‘requisitioned’ into a work gang with guards to keep you in line and working? That would deprive you of that easy way out? It might even get you s big black bunk mate who uses you like one of the females you dream of raping. Now wouldn’t THAT be a big ‘come-around’? LMAO

How many decades MM? Two? Three? Five? You could die of old age first.

For instance: They have been on the verge of having a nuclear fusion reactor for about six decades now, but they are still at least a decade or more away, or so they claim. So much for ‘expert’s’ prognostications.

Your ‘total collapse’ may be when you are in your 40s or 50s. Or never. Only time will tell. That your future will be painful is certain. Just not the timeline.

“These figures are also based on the continuance of immigration at current rates. It’s very clear that without immigration European population would fall substantially due to low birth rate. Falling population means falling “growth” and economic collapse.”

Another US leftist like Cobley insisting that our civilization would crash if we would not import ever larger numbers of darkies into our lands. Exactly the opposite is true. These invaders physically represent the shithole countries they come from. They are two-legged shitholes, who merely want to hog and f*, preferably with Cobley’s daughters, on Cobley’s purse. Fortunately we now have Fortress Europe almost in place and as such have a ring-side seat to watch the American drama unfold: civil war and genocide, completely unrelated to peak-oil baloney, but exclusively the result of the titanic screw-up, egalitarian commies like Cobley, Davy and Siss represent, who bought into the “diversity is our strength” rubbish, as sold by the ADL and kosher media masters for decades and now the country is ready for the “harvest” by the Grim Reaper.

James Howard Kunstler and Alex Jones know what is coming. Don’t worry about billions in the third world, worry about millions at home.

Italy is blessed with a populist government and is in safety, for the moment. Invader taxi ships are chained by Rome (and Malta).

Now the EU’s border-guard Frontex is warning against a new loophole: Spain. Spain has since a month a leftist government and they can’t wait to take in as many future leftist voters from Africa as they can lay their hands on. The Strait of Gibraltar is very easy to cross and Morocco is not willing to stop them. So far 6,000 illegal crossings have been accomplished. Frontex fears that this sets a bad example. Central in the developing drama is the African state of Niger (spelled with one “g”), from where a new route to Europe, via Morocco is developing, now that Libya has been virtually sealed off, thanks to Salvini the Great, who is surging in the polls as a consequence and has arrived at a magical 1933-ish 31%:

The populist cat is out of the bag, thanks to the largest identitarian country in western Europe: Italy. The same Italy that was the first to respond to the communist threat in the twenties with authoritarian nationalism. It won’t be long before the European Right can overthrow the US empire and its leftists water carriers…

    …and turn to Russia…

…and organize a major league European geopolitical upgrade to a sovereign political entity to the tune of 640 million, nuclear armed to the teeth and send the US slum lords 1989-USSR-style back to the prairie, where they belong (if they can keep it, a big if).

The future: Heartland USA-Europe-Russia, under the leadership/dominance of PBM.

You gotta love this iconic picture:

Although I’m a Europe-firster, my sympathy is entirely with Trump here. Macron and Merkel demand from Trump: “lead us!”. Trump defiantly says: “no!”. Merkel and Macron know they are toast at home if they are no longer backed by the US vempire, exactly like these Eastern European communists knew they were toast after 1985, when Gorbachev began to hint to them that the days of old-school communism were over and they were on their own. Trump=Gorbachev.

Their sentiment was expressed best by Joshka Fisher, the former German foreign minister and personal favorite of Madeleine Albright. You don’t get them more leftist, more 1968 than him:

He fears that the West is over, but I could not be more upbeat about the same event.

  44. Theedrich on Sat, 7th Jul 2018 4:01 am

Life operates on negative feedback.   I.e., it is cybernetic, despite what all the “accidentalists” claim and which, of course, MM and most other Yids (and Yid-Cretins) cannot understand.  That is, like a missile programmed to correct its course if its sensors find it is deviating from its internal map, life “gets back on track” after disasters.  It learns from its mistakes.  This is the fact behind the mystery of memory, which is not “in” molecules or other physical structures (which are only “transceivers” for it, perhaps operating through quantum entanglement), but exists outside of the physically measurable cosmos altogether.  (Researcher Paul Pietsch, in his Shufflebrain, suggested that memory exists in a mathematical dimension he called “transform space.”)  The process is also the operative factor behind pain, which is at bottom a biological learning process.

Hence new life forms “recall” their phyletic memories from extra-physical dimensions beyond spacetime.  Humans “enjoy” watching contests of all sorts (e.g., sports, soap operas, “good-vs.-bad” movies, etc.) because such entertainment reactivates the collective memories of our own evolution in which we were always warring against competing primates.  Familial memories sometimes show up in cases of so-called “reincarnation,” in which the body of a new child shows what looks like healed scars or malformations of a deceased relative who died through some kind of violence producing lethal wounds to which such scar-memories correspond.  (See Ian Stevenson on this.)

The current direction of human-directed planetary life is suicidal.  Our sob-story-based and infinite-material-growth-directed trajectory can have only one, deadly, conclusion, if not stopped.  While we cannot be sure, it is quite possible that the deep teleological program towards higher intelligence is already working to eliminate global stupidifiers such as Angela Merkel, the U.S. DeepState, the deranged Western elites and similar genosuicidal classes.  Hence the new hypersonic and other leapfrogging weapons technologies now being developed by Russia and even China.  Hence also the impending economic debt crash and EROEI energy crunch referred to by Kunstler above.  The evolutionary result for unfitness is extinction.

As Nietzsche once said, “Among individuals, madness is something rare.  But among groups, parties, peoples and eras, it is the rule” (Jenseits von Gut und Böse, 1886.  Viertes Hauptstück. Sprüche und Zwischenspiele, Aph. 156).  America’s current direction is insane.

Democrats and Republicans have to come to their senses, but won’t.

Anybody see the video over a zerohedge of the antifa fascist pig get cold-cocked by the right wing protester?

One punch, out like a light. Hilarious.

Two brain-washed American idiots get mad at each other and duke it out. The antifa dumbass was asking for it and got it in spades.

They both need to turn their attention away from their stupidity and focus it on American politicians who have managed to make America a shining example of dumbfuckery. Heckuva job.

Stupid politicians like Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and other dumb Democrats along with every rotten Republican out there, are to blame for the condition of the country.

Who in their right mind would even vote for a Democrat or even, God forbid, a Republican?

It should be a crime punishable by death to vote for either party.

Both parties need to disband and pay the American people some money just to payback what they, the stupidest people on the face of the earth, Democrats and Republicans, have stolen from Americans the past hundred years or so.

It is a crime against humanity to have political parties that have done what they have done to America.

The feckless Democrats and the criminal Republicans should hang their heads in shame for what they have wrought.

The American people are actually even more stupid for putting up with what these two worthless bogus smarmy political parties have concocted.

Where the blame can be pinpointed.

Even your lying eyes should be able to see that, it is right under your noses.

Time to rid America of both and good riddance.

Punch out their lights, the world will be a better place.

Human like intelligence likely does not represent universal intelligence as many hyper egos want to imagine. If there is a higher power and it is the universal intelligence manifested in the depth of the cosmos it is likely not a reflection of the human. The human is likely part of this universal intelligence because we are a part of the whole but not the reflection. This is where we modern humans get sidetracked with exceptionalism. We want to think we are that manifestation of universal intelligence. This delusional thinking gets more warped with racism which is just a deeper form of mistaken exceptionalism. If there is an “Isness” that permeates the universe it does not think and feel human. Humans mirror a small part of this force as life reflecting on itself but we are not “it” as many want so much to believe. If there is one thing humans need more of it is humility to our lack of true intelligence instead of mistaken pride of human greatness. If we had real humility for just how small we are then we might be less destructive. It is those who are the most proud that can be the most destructive.

Mouse, I have to disappoint you, I never read your posts as there is absolutely nothing of value in it, it is just one giant sneer. In this you are just like the king of the one-liner, Sissy the Lame One, but at least he is funny, in a morbid kind of way.

The only interesting aspect about you is your departure date, in a decade or so, write that in your agenda. Perhaps, if you are lucky, you end up on a Eurasian payroll and run Africa for us, as a proxy. Perhaps you can teach the locals English or diesel truck driving or some other activity that does not require exceptional skills. Wouldn’t that be great? End good, all good, everybody happy. And poor little you would never be exposed to “evil white racism” ever again.

MM “Just wait till the oil shortage hits..I am going to get drunk and beat some Trump voters face in with a brick..”

I hope the authorities check out this guy. Maybe the FBI could study his profile. He is obviously a narcissistic sociopath and dangerous to society. My bet is he is on drugs and has a criminal record. You are not worth the air you breathe, MM.
