EU Commission plans emergency powers

EU Commission plans emergency powers thumbnail

The European Commission is seeking emergency powers to intervene in the production of certain goods in critical situations, Germany’s Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) newspaper reported, citing a draft of the proposal.

The EU executive has been looking at how to avoid the supply bottlenecks that accompanied the coronavirus pandemic and no longer wants to rely on companies in the European Union’s 27 member states to take precautions on their own.

The so-called internal market emergency instrument, set to be presented on Sept. 13, lays out several stages that open up varying powers to the Commission depending on the situation.

“Vigilance mode,” which could be declared over an event that could threaten security of supply, allows the Commission to request company data and suggest building up “strategic reserves” first, and if that is not enough, to mandate it.

In crisis mode, the Commission would be allowed to directly dictate what orders companies should prioritize, the newspaper reported. Companies would only be exempt if the Commission’s conditions cause economic difficulties or for capacity reasons.

According to FAZ, member states would be able to prevent the triggering of these modes, as well as specific interventions by the Commission, but the hurdle would be especially high.

The powers are designed to stop member states from restricting their internal markets during a crisis – as seen during the pandemic with export bans on face masks – through transparency and better coordination of national measures.

A Commission official said the proposed measure aims to ensure greater transparency and coordination in the event of a critical situation, safeguard the free movement of services and goods and maximise the availability of essential products.

The official declined direct comment on the article, saying the commission did not comment on leaked documents.

The EU executive is now finalising its proposal.

FAZ said the proposal has faced criticism in the European parliament, which along with the EU Council of Ministers would have to green-light it before it could come into effect.

    Tim Watkins gets it.

    The purpose of the system

What we are currently experiencing is the final economic crisis of the neoliberal system… expensive energy is merely the rocky nemesis upon which the neoliberal ship is being torn apart.

The result of the immediate crisis is that we see people grasping for easy but wrong explanations for why things have gone so bad apparently so rapidly.”

    easy but wrong explanations

    emotionally soothing but wrong explanations

“Emergency Powers”are never temporary. Ask Bush, Obama, Trump, or Biden’s handler. Just another power grab to force the Reset.

The Euro serfs allowed their masters to shut off everything they need. Now they will see why it was done. Pain and suffering as they slide into the 3rd world.

A new, perfectly good, pipeline is ready for use and sanctions can be ended today. Gather wood and live in the 18th century if you are too whipped to revolt.

BTW: Here is an example of the insanity in the US today: “… calling for Microsoft to supply as many as 120,000 IVAS sets to the Army. The value of that deal works out to more than $182,000 per set. The goggles project a hologram over a soldier’s field of vision in combat, giving troops more information about what they’re seeing”

I hope they work better than the other expensive junk Amerika makes. I’m glad I am not a starving, homeless Amerikan paying taxes to these insane fools. The Chinese probably have the same thing, or better, at $500 each. LOL

This measure could have profound implications for the UK.

The EU will demand that the output of EU windturbine manufacturers goes solely to EU member states, nuclear power stations same story, which will completely decapitate UK efforts to implement new capacity.

I’m making the prefiction here that the UK will have no choice but to resort to UCG (underground coal gasification), if the EU would indeed resort to this, and if the planet is lucky, will go the extra mile to sequester the corresponding CO2-output.

The UK has trillions of tons of coal, with far more energie content then all the fossil fuel that has ever been burned on the planet, throughout history

Germany’s blindly emotional and infantile Außenministerin (Foreign Minister) Annalena Baerbock has said that, no matter what German citizens want or need, she is going to see to it that Germany will continue to destroy its economy and the life of its people in order to support Ukraine against Russia.  She is backed up by Germany’s other psychopathic rulers (Olaf Scholz, Robert Habeck), who imagine they will be able to satisfy their 1945-defeat-caused Stockholm Syndrome by committing national suicide.  Ditto for the leaders of France, Poland and the other parasite nations of western Europe.  Interestingly, this attitude will be the trigger for the collapse of vastly overcomplexified Europe and perhaps of the entire Western economy, as predicted by Joseph Tainter in his famous “The Collapse of Complex Societies” (1988, 1992).  For a good view of what Europe is doing to itself, watch Alexander Mercouris on YouTube (Ukraine Disaster Troops Surrounded on Ingulets River;  Europe Disaster Gazprom Suspends Nord Stream 1 of 2022 Sep 3).  The limit of Nature’s tolerance of European Utopian absurdities has been reached, and the planet can no longer sustain a system run by madmen driven by self-imposed guilt.

I think that the coming collapse of the EU-economies will be the price to be paid to finally throw the US and brain-dead NATO out (33 years overdue) en strike a geopolitical deal with Russia.

If that will be the case, this exercise “will have been worth it” (free after Madeleine Albright).

100,000 demonstrators in Prague against energy crisis, NATO, for neutral Ukraine:

In Germany, there are demonstrations all over the country. The leftist 1968 generation is going to bite the dust and replaced by something more right-wing. That’s how we Europeans tick.

    >>> 100,000 demonstrators in Prague against energy crisis

Fuck me. If they should be demonstrating against import of negro and ragheads they demonstrate the “political correct” subject energy. Pathetic losers them europeans.
Use biocomposters to turn imported negros and ragheads into bio gas and all of europe’s energy problem is solved.

The West is going down. China and Russia will use what is left of it to their own benefit.

Perhaps you all should look at the list of WEF bots running your countries today?

NO, I am not going to do your research for you, but Trudoe, Macron, Merkel, etc. are on the list as is Hillary Clinton, Bill gates, etc..
