Egypt asks UAE to fund natural gas delivery

Public Policy

Egypt’s Petroleum Authority has said the government has asked the UAE to provide EGP1.3bn in funding for the delivery of natural gas to 800,000 Egyptian homes, Anadolu has reported. The project will reduce the amount of subsidies allocated by the government every year to butane gas cylinders, a main source of cooking in Egyptian homes.

    Begging…

I expect this sort of begging or deal making to be on the increase, as the number of exporting countries shrink and the number of importing countries grow.

Then, the begging will be replaced by violence over the remaining resources – “Mad Max” writ large.

Think of it as simply shuffling the subsidies around a little. The IMF cartel wants Egypt to remove subsidies for poor peoples cooking fuel-fair enough. The IMF, does not seem at all concerned with the 100s of billions given to western oil corporations every year.

Anyhow, say the Egyptians DO finally tell all these poor people there subsidy gravy train has left the station for good. What’s the military junta then do?

Why they turn around and ask their neighbors for energy and cash subsidies to prevent the country from imploding!

    Well played everyone!
