Saudi Arabia Partially Restores Oil Output

Oil has fallen from earlier highs after Saudi Aramco’s Abqiaq plant restored some production and is now processing just under half the output that was lost in Sunday’s drone attack. Bloomberg’s James Thornhill reports on “Bloomberg Daybreak: Asia.” (Source: Bloomberg)

the best creature ever created of humanity can remain in the pot for 12 hours or more. he has to come back for an entire month. if he’s lucky go in giant hamsteer wheels that’s unstable and a way to stablize it is generating current to keep system stable. system is designed to be mostly passive so only a smaller current is bled to run teh system. the rest powers the city and industries.

    Brexit sneak preview:

    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1180258/thomas-cook-collapse-holidays-tourists-stranded-abroad

“Thomas Cook shock: 180,000 tourists may be stranded abroad as firm ‘on brink of collapse’”

I love the smell of a good collapse in the morning. If not “peak oil”, than Brexit must deliver.

Although the possible collapse of Thomas Cook has nothing to do with Brexit and a “last minute” (pun intended) rescue is still possible, a collapse will certainly be associated with (no-deal) Brexit.

Thomas Cook is basically the inventor of tourism (1841).

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Cook_Group

Somehow it would be highly symbolic if this institution, representing the hallmark of modernity, would go flat on its face.

1841, that’s the time when in Britain and elsewhere in Europe, the rail-grid was rapidly developing, opening up the possibility for large numbers of people to go places, without a purpose, other than gaining new impressions.

In 2019 this idea has developed in a nightmare, where the most attractive cities no longer advertise themselves, in the hope that the tourist mob stays away or at least doesn’t grow.

Thomas Cook going down could mark the beginning of the downfall of The Tourist.

“The hard truths of climate change — by the numbers”

It is my opinion that industrial civilization cannot engineer its way out of this predicament. We need to change behavior but that is almost as unlikely as a technical fix. Plan to go local and collapse in place in an orderly fashion. We do not know how and how quickly this decline will be but one fact is certain you can adapt and mitigate it better if you start now. My efforts started 10 years ago. I have made amazing progress and now feel I have a lifeboat of sorts. I am honest about this life boat. My life boat is good for a few months on my own but then it is local community that will need to come together. We really don’t have a local community of Green preppers so longer term I am not optimistic for my efforts. Yet, much depends on how modern industrial society comes apart. If it is slower and less chaiotic then I have good practices in place. If it is a cascade into mad max then it will be difficult to maintain a minimum of comfort. I have the attitude which helps so when it gets bad I have mental preparations for it.

I am practicing REAL Green which has the approach of relative sacrifice with a push to localism and low energy gathering. It involves animals and solar panels. It involves efficiency, conservation, and alternative lifestyles. Jettison climate guilt and start the work to lower your foot print not only for the planet but your own survival. This is about triage of negative activities and the inclusion of a hybrid of old and new activities. We have the old ways of living that proved themselves. You can leverage the knowledge that industrial civilization has gathered to tweak the old ways. Adapt consumerism to GREEN prepping. Buy items with a future and items that contribute to a stronger long term local. Definitely buys some basics of survival related to food, water, and home economics.

Our youth are engaged in climate protest which is fine. We need to put pressure on TPTB there is a problem but we should be honest that modern life cannot be reformed. We cannot tech our way out of this. We see in the world today too many political views to find a common denominator for adapted behavior. The behavioral changes amount to draconian control of procreation, movement, and consumption. Tell me how that is going to be implemented? Instead we have FAKE Greens claiming socialism or Green Marxism will work with lots of tech and paid for by whatever means. All this is really is a smoke screen for wealth redistribution of a shrinking pie and technological fantasy. No political effort will sell by preaching less affluence IOW be poor. What they will say is the rich will pay for it all and so forth. That sounds good doesn’t it. They will pay and I won’t. What is needed is a complete revamping of modern life. If these protesters knew that many would not be protesting. These people think we can leave behind consequences but we can’t. We can’t pass blame and expect it to get better. We can’t get out of this because it is a trap. The best one can do is acknowledge an end game ahead and adapt locally and personally. Protest if you like but be honest.

““The hard truths of climate change — by the numbers”
    https://tinyurl.com/yyxdaewv nature

Climate activism is retarded. There is a certain type of person that just loves campaigning for ’causes’ but aren’t that interested in getting into how to make things happen at a practical level. They tend to be angry, emotionally unhinged, utopian, and obsessed with virtue signalling. Unable to fit in in the real world, they cling to utopian fantasies that bring them emotional stability; the more wild and unachievable the better. The cause doesn’t actually matter that much to these people, so long as it is virtuous in their warped little minds. Nor does the practicality of what they are proposing; they aren’t really that interested in finding a real solution; just crushing what they perceive to be ‘the opposition’.

The clever people are the ones that sit down and actually work out technological alternatives. A person needs a certain amount of brainpower and emotional stability to do that. And they need enough knowledge about the way things really work, to be able to find solutions that actually satisfy needs in a way that makes them sustainable.

The reality is that the plummeting EROI of fossil fuels means that relatively little will be economically producible by 2030. If these fuels don’t generate enough surplus energy, they cease to be useful to the economy. This is why we are approaching peak demand. And it has nothing to do with falling costs of energy alternatives. It is due to declining purchasing power and real wealth.

Simply put KSA need to import tons of ‘product’; jet fuel, diesel, gasoline just to feed domestic needs, keep air conditioning humming etc.

Tons of daily oil product demand domestically will in a short time eat away at WORLD storage. (plus Saudi wealth)

If the Trump issues some sort of stronger embargo sanctions
on Iran, it will only make oil prices shoot higher.
I’m guessing, tonight Trump Administration will deny Iran all oil exports but not call it a ‘blockade’ as such.

Iran doing the logical thing: exporting oil over land, in northern direction, away from sanctions.

Russia has a Eurasian pipeline network to both Europe and China, circumventing Anglo naval blockades. The days aren’t that far that Russia won’t be able to satisfy the needs of both Europe and China.

Acting as a Eurasian oil distributor, the power of Russia only increases.

The climate crisis will not be resolved until humanity comes to the conclusion that this is not a left, right problem. Nor is it a north south east west poor rich problem. Climate change is a global issue.
However,in a competitive global economy, special interest will naturally win out over collective world issues like the environment. It’s the nature of the beast.
Tis the world we live in, well until there is no longer one.
