Well Gosh…….

General Ideas

I just came out of a meeting with two ministers of Finland. One was the Director of Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland. We were to discuss how to develop the battery industry in Finland. They openly discussed concepts like peak oil, hyperinflation, EU currency reset, Break up of EU into something else and the projection that we don’t have nearly enough minerals to make the desired quantity of batteries and solar panels. They even knew what ERoEI was.

Somebody pinch me!!!

Even though I’ve never met Simon face to face, we have become friends over that FB platform and have discovered that we are actually very similar in our senses of humour and outlook for the future…..  Simon is an Australian mining engineer whose work I featured on DTM many moons ago, and is currently working for the Finnish Government in a high power position to determine Finland’s future energy and resources position. The header of this post is by Simon; he posted it on the FB Peak Oil group I follow….. I just had to share it, because it’s obvious that there are plenty of people in goverments (all over the world?) who must know what is going on, and yet do not have the guts to come out and say it like it is.

How much longer will we have to wait before reality makes an appearance in Australia?

If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a presentation by Simon on peak mining….

    Realty is a foreign language to most Westerners…

    “A new world is dawning, and the US will no longer lead it”

    “The power shifts are increasingly visible. In the Middle East, the U.S. hoped for decades to isolate Iran as a pariah and weaken the regime until it fell. Today, that goal is unimaginable, …

    The Russians are in the Middle East region for good, building on their long-standing relationship with the family of Syria’s dictator….

    In Asia, decades of U.S. condemnation and efforts to contain the rise of Chinese power have failed….

    The U.S. cannot slow Chinese economic growth nor contain its power. China is changing the rules, whether the U.S. likes it or not….

    Other countries, like the Philippines and Australia, hedge their bets by improving bilateral relations with China. …

    Nor will the U.S. contain the rise of Russia, …

    …the rest of the world rejects the assumption that the U.S. is “indispensable” and “exceptional.””

    Worth posting again, if you haven’t read it…

    “As a foreign correspondent I covered collapsed societies, including the former Yugoslavia. It is impossible for any doomed population to grasp how fragile the decayed financial, social and political system is on the eve of implosion.

    All the harbingers of collapse are visible:

    1. Crumbling infrastructure;
    2. Chronic underemployment and unemployment;
    3. The indiscriminate use of lethal force by police;
    4. Political paralysis and stagnation;
    5. An economy built on the scaffolding of debt;
    6. Nihilistic mass shootings in schools, universities, workplaces, malls, concert venues and movie theaters;
    7. Opioid overdoses that kill some 64,000 people a year;
    8. An epidemic of suicides;
    9. Unsustainable military expansion;
    10. Gambling as a desperate tool of economic development and government revenue;
    11. The capture of power by a tiny, corrupt clique;
    12. Censorship;
    13. The physical diminishing of public institutions ranging from schools and libraries to courts and medical facilities;
    14. The incessant bombardment by electronic hallucinations to divert us from the depressing sight that has become America and keep us trapped in illusions.

    We suffer the usual pathologies of impending death. I would be happy to be wrong. But I have seen this before. I know the warning signs. All I can say is get ready.”

    “Unexceptionalism”, never heard that one before.

    Forecast: the message that “A new world is dawning, and the US will no longer lead it”, will sink in with the European-American public and the argument to “sit still and don’t rock the boat, because we don’t want to interrupt our planetary pole position”, will no longer apply. The new adage will: “save from the white world what can be saved”.

    Millimind’s social revolution will come alright, but from both sides, with opposite intentions, where the-left-with-a-color will demand resources, rights, equality and the white-right will demand secession.

    The latter will have the better cards, because Eurasia will support secession, as everybody and his mother will want to see Washington, NYC and Wall-street and the dollar (“ZOG”) go.

    In a spiritual sense European-America will come home again after 250 years of independence, sadder and wiser. The history of the US empire, together with the USSR the propaganda empires, will be rewritten. From the ground up. Russia will become European as it has aspired to become since Peter the Great.

    The Great White World, or what’s left of it, will remain on top.

    Why is the Us selling all of it’s gold?

    “As I have mentioned, a lot London’s gold is exported to China and Switzerland. And then, the majority of Switzerland’s gold is exported to Hong Kong and China. For example, according to the statistics on GoldChartsrus, in March, the U.K. exported 16 mt of gold to China and 32 mt of gold to Switzerland. In the very same month, Switzerland exported 80 mt of gold to Hong Kong and China. So, most of the west’s gold still ends up in Hong Kong and China. … So, the United States continues to export more gold than it imports and produces from its domestic mines.”

    “Americans Are Getting the Country They Asked For”

    “Every single action taken is a precursor to a future action. That’s something that not enough people understand. All of these things that sound like such good ideas when they happen to the “enemy,” whoever that might be? They seem a whole lot less like good ideas when they happen to you. Many Americans are getting exactly the country they asked for and they don’t like it at all. …

    The astounding levels of cognitive dissonance make it impossible for some people to see that they themselves were the ones who set the precedents for things happening today…

    If you are willing to give away someone else’s freedom and to allow others to be mistreated, don’t be one bit surprised when the same thing happens to you.?

    A post about Finland and 5-6 comments about US?

    The mining video is actually very interesting. I don’t agree with the guy on peak oil (or even oil impact on mining) but still huge amount of learning and very nicely presented. And different than the typical peaker presentation!

    I bet none of you watched it though.

    To the Mods here:

    I know it is unwise to read the comments on any website but I have to say the comments here are getting worse. This article was hearsay but modestly interesting and the comments had nothing to do with it. Also if the comments are a signal there are very few people reading this site which is hard to believe. So perhaps the low quality of comments is scaring folks away?

  10. Cloggie on Fri, 29th Jun 2018 11:53 pm

    Your typical SJW with zero anciennity, infiltrating the forum, hinting at a ban while complaining about the “low quality of the comments”, where she herself has never written one. Or could as she has no idea how to spell peek oil, let alone grasp the meaning.

    Go back to your Antifa hut, sarah.

    P.S. Is she your sister, millimind?

  11. Cloggie on Fri, 29th Jun 2018 11:54 pm

    The only thing that is scaring people away is your picture, Sarah Gutter.

  12. Anonymouse1 on Sat, 30th Jun 2018 12:05 am

    If we had to look at a picture of your hook-hosed, sallow, pock-marked face with your beady, rat-like eyes and visage starring out at us every time you decide to share your random neural impulses, cloggraham, it would be pretty scary as well.

  13. Makati1 on Sat, 30th Jun 2018 12:25 am

    Perhaps, Sarah, but there is one here who took the level of conversion to new lows about five years ago and doesn’t seem to be able to change.

    Besides the fact that there is nothing to talk about Peak Oil that is not just guesses and the daily up and sown of prices. Boring! No one here has any impact on any of the oily situation.

    However, current events regarding the collapse of civilization and the end of humanity is interesting and happening. We can do something about that, even if it is only to ease the pain by prepping and sharing thoughts and experiences.

    OK, so you agree that the picture of Sarah is “pretty scary”.

    After consulting my rabbi I did indeed decide it was better not to post my picture for the reasons you mentioned

    P.S. you didn’t post your picture either, eh, for good reason, no doubt. Motown is so seventies.

    Sarah Gautreaux, you hit the nail squarely and good observation. This low quality noise may change if and when energy issues become more of a crisis situation and this draws in new blood. This comment forum is now intellectually inbred with the same people saying the same thing daily. There is now a lot of personality gaming with group moderation. There are still some good comments that contribute to learning but less and less over time. So the drop in quality and readership is likely two fold with energy issues declining in urgency and with the low quality of contributor’s homesteading. I was part of this and now trying a different approach after so long in the same rut.

    Another sock puppet play by one of the puppet masters. I don’t play these stupid games and those who do are hurting the integrity of the forum. We have never had Admin post here before. This is likely the same individual who hacked my handle so it would not work for 2 days. I pretty sure know who it is, not that it matters.

    I think its long past time for you to get that professional help we’ve all been advising you to. If you cant afford it, you can always set up a kickstarter. And if are too embarrassed to set it up yourself, there is a solution for that too.

    Have one of your sock puppets set up the kickstarter for you.
