Prophets of doom: Is the end of the world near?

Prophets of doom: Is the end of the world near? thumbnail

Armageddon didn’t happen in 1982 as predicted by American evangelist Pat Robertson (born in 1930). Then, he prophesied again and again, and flopped again and again.

Even in predicting the end of the world, Americans and Russians were rivals. Grigori Rasputin (1869-1916), a Russian mystic who was assassinated in 1916, prophesied that fire would extinguish all human lives in 2013.

Jeane Dixon (1904-1997), an American self-proclaimed psychic, predicted that the planetary cataclysm would take place in 1962. Flopped. Thereafter, she prophesied the collapse of human civilization in 2020.

Science-based prophecies included NASA’s prediction of Earth’s destruction by the asteroid Nibiru. Early this year, the Australian climate experts calculated that the world would end somewhere in the vicinity of 2050, which is about 30 years from now, due to the “destabilizing societal and environmental factors caused by global warming.”

Global warming, according to them, will cause the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to drop dramatically, making photosynthesis in plants unattainable, triggering a mega mass destruction of the Earth’s plant life, which in turn will set off the disappearance of oxygen in the atmosphere, making animal and human lives unlivable.

With urgency, scientists are calling for a mobilization for some sort of a global climate emergency like what alliances of nations do during actual wartime.

A Catholic dogma of faith

Since the Ascension of Jesus into Heaven, apocalypticists have been coming out to publicly predict the collapse of civilization and the destruction of planet Earth one way or another.

According to some, the end of the world will happen unexpectedly: Cut-and-dry ordinary, business as usual, and people walking out of their homes in the morning rather cool and unruffled, without realizing that their lives are about to be turned upside down. Spine-chilling?

Armageddon, the end of the world, cosmological eschatology, Rapture, or Judgement Day, or Parousia (ancient Greek word for “physical arrival” or “official visit”), all connote the Second Physical Coming of Jesus, his First Physical Coming being the Incarnation, when, 2,000 years ago, “the Word was made Flesh” (John 1:14).

That Christ the King will come for the second time in glory and majesty to judge the living and the dead (Mk 8:38; Lk 9:26) is believed by Christians or about a third of the world’s population.

Such magnificent occurrence (or horrifying, well, it depends) will be the moment of truth, just picture in your mind Michelangelo’s GENERAL JUDGMENT in the Sistine Chapel, when all the dead will rise on the last day and the advent of the “new heavens and a new earth” will be upon us. The big question is: When will this happen? Will you and I be alive to witness this?

But calm down. Chill. You and I were solemnly assured of the time or date of such earth-shaking event. As the Son of the Almighty God Himself has put it: “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone” (Matthew 24:36).

“What the caterpillar calls the end of the world,” writes Richard Bach, “the Master calls a butterfly.” So, today, live like the new day as a butterfly, and enjoy your loved ones and all the miracles of life.

Total dope this author. Equating religious dogma with scientific postlates and facts. Sounds like he is trying to convince himself as much as the reader that nothing bad will ever happen. Nothing bad is going to happen except you are going to die and our species has created the conditions for its own demise. So chill

Onlooker, it would be a better world without the religious bullshit. Too many in the US/Israel/ME believe they will go to a wonderful place, after Armageddon, where they will live happily forever. Therefore, they are trying to start a war to end the human race.

Try to tell a Protestant/Catholic/Mormon that their god is the same one that Muslims worship and they will think you are crazy. They don’t want to understand that when you die, it is all over. Like a bulb burning out. Nothingness. Ah well, if we were a sane species we would have built a paradise on earth. Instead, we are destroying what we already have.

Why did you create this site?
After several years of observation, it became apparent to the editor that the narcissism and lack of self-reflection is a byproduct of the religion itself. This prompted the site’s focus to shift. TROP hopes that readers explore those things which make Islam so very different.

    You gotta “love” Trump:

If a kike like Laurence Tribe (what’s in a name) is fuming with rage, you know the US is on the right track.

    It’s coming, The Great Breakup!

The world is indeed heading for calamity through geopolitical reconfiguration and major social disturbances and “peak-oil” or “climate change” will have nothing to do with it. These will make themselves felt later, if ever.

    The real breaking points/black swans:

    – China bracing itself to become the new geopolitical #1 and challenging the US over the SCS, Taiwan and generally in East-Asia. An ultimatum to the US to get lost is only a matter of time.
    – The US is internally heading for a confrontation between mongrel “left” and white “right”, about the future character of the country, with deep racial undertones. #1776
    – The EU is preparing itself for moving away from the 1945-imposed US empire and team up with Russia, as recently confirmed by Macron. China may become the next #1 country, the EU+Russia have the potential to remain the #1 civilization.
    – Brexit greatly stimulates the breakup of the West. Pax Americana is evaporating, Britain and a now united Europe are destined to become adversaries, with Britain fleeing into the arms of America.
    – Combined with the New Silk Road and SCO alliance, this will automatically imply a rapprochement between Europe and China and offer the opportunity for Europe and China to define a new world order, away from the dollar and generally US-centric UN/SC/WB/IMF, an identitarian international order that will be carried by Europe and China. #UnitedCivilizations. Without the dollar reserve currency, the US will economically fall back to the level of a richer Balkan country (Slovenia, where Melania comes from). This reduced wealth will greatly increase “centrifugal tendencies” in US society.

We’re going to have a multi-polar world of “big tent identitarianism”, where large territories of similar ethnic-religious background shield themselves off against influences from the outside and define themselves against each other.

The US globalist entity will break apart because white Americans will re-identify themselves as Europeans under the pressure and threat of changing demographics and the loss of the “exceptionalism idea”.

The greatest geopolitical loons, who are acting totally against the spirit of the times, out of a misplaced sense of nostalgia for past glory, will be NYC-born and Churchill-wannabee Turk-Jew-Frenchman-Russian mystery meat Boris Johnson and Nigel Fromage.

    Victory, what victory?

“Victory for Boris? Prime Minister appears in triumphant mood after Emmanuel Macron backs Angela Merkel’s plan to give him 30 days to come up with an alternative to the backstop”

Merkel and Macron gave BoJo nothing and besides, BoJo doesn’t want to be given anything, he wants just out. Everybody is sitting out this ridiculous extension of the Brexit date of October 31, what remains is the blame game. Britain is going to nose-dive economically, yet Brexit is the right decision for both Britain and Europe. The English always defined themselves against us (“Splendid Isolation”) and it is time for us Europeans to finally internalize that the English are fundamentally anti-European and that we should return the favor and that they are our geopolitical competitors and opponents.

No more German stupidity/naivety, exercised from the Kaiser to Hitler and Rudolf Hess: “why can’t we be friends and allies?”.

    We can’t.

    Instead: an iron fist.

The coming break is permanent. We need an Iron Curtain in the North Sea and Channel and no favors doled out. Instead: missiles. Set an example. Russia is ready to join Europe and we’re going to have a united Europe, an Aryan super-civilization, ranging from Lisbon to Wladiwostok, under French-German-Russian leadership:

The European conquest of space is next.
    (and parts of North-America).

Memes drive the zeitgeist or the mood of the herd. Stability is based on economics. As long as the system holds together we will continue our slow march towards dystopia. The four mega cities Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and the Washington Baltimore area are pulling America towards a multiracial coalition dominated by Hispanics. These mega cities exacerbate the divide between the rich and the poor with the underclass numbering in the hundreds of thousands. Identity politics and overt racism have increased in this toxic environment. Graft on the part of the political elites combined with the overwhelming power of the oligarchs living behind their gated walls have disenfranchised the populace. Christianity has been abandoned to be replaced by the secular religion of communism. Communism with its never ending meme of economic equality for all has served as a magnet for the underclass of the entire world. This has caused millions of third worlders to flood into these city centers. This influx has caused racial and ethnic divisions within these cities. The disenfranchised are distracted by the communist memes pushing the racial divide. The white man has been selected as the most viable scapegoat to be blamed for all of society’s ills. The divergent factions are for the present, overlooking their own ethnic differences and focusing on their mutual hatred of whites. This ruse has allowed the oligarchs to escape scrutiny for the time being.

The mega city demand for water, electricity, food and fuel have created just in time delivery systems that circumnavigate the globe. Ever increasing levels of complexity have created an environment that is both unsustainable and ungovernable. The resulting rise in chaos, crime and taxes is beginning to cause the productive class to flee to other environments. Using their political clout, these mega cities are now beginning to push for national bailouts putting the entire nation on the hook for their financial foibles.

The end result will more than likely be the collapse of the entire magic money machine. If that happens, the mega city horde will pour out of those cities consuming everything in their path until they are bled out by millions of armed citizens living in the thousands of miles of fly over country. That will be your next civil war characterized by millions of home invasions resulting in millions of deaths.

The Amazon fires will set the Keeling Curve spinning like an environmentalists brain. The missiles being fired are still duds but for how long? When do the shark attacks start pointing to a barren, heated ocean bereft of life? I would offer you the obligatory shadowed beacon at the end of this intercourse but I am sworn to the realism that I see and feel.

  22. claes on Fri, 23rd Aug 2019 6:07 pm

I kind of miss the old Davy’s calm and collected analysis of the worlds situation.
But that’s no more – just internal fights between the left and the rigth brain-half. And that goes for the world as such.
The white/chinese mans cold rationalism versus the social, warm collectivism of the rest of the world.
    Which should we chose?
Cold rationalism has turned out to be a chemical threat to the biosphere, while warm collectivism is a threat to the biosphere, because of its uncontrolled proliferation with humans that by and by replace nature and kill species that doesn’t fit their cultural pattern.
It seeems to me that both rationalism and collectivism are outdated.
Separatism instead of globalism could do the job.
Then rationalists could make their own rationalist heavens, and likewise the collectivist minded people could indulge in their collectivismen.
    What could go wrong ????

  23. makati1 on Fri, 23rd Aug 2019 6:10 pm

Sissyfuss, the Amazon is over 1,000,000 square miles less now. An area about the size of the US east of the Mississippi and south of Ohio. No-one has a clue as to how that will affect the climate but it cannot be a good thing.

That is just that much less oxygen we have to breath and that much more carbon dioxide. Not to mention that we are killing the oxygen generating life in the oceans.

I watched a TV series 9 where they had huge oxygen making plants all over and you had to pay a monthly fee to live. I saw that as one possible future even then.

  24. claes on Fri, 23rd Aug 2019 6:57 pm

Mak, just like Bill Maher said that a recession would be worth it, just to get rid of Trump, then maybe an environmental crash would be worth it, just to get rid of the surplus of the human race.

  25. makati1 on Fri, 23rd Aug 2019 7:15 pm

claes, it would end the human race, not just the “surplus”. It IS going to happen and probably in this century. Those who live thru the coming crash will be in a much degraded, depleted, disease infested, polluted world. Their lives will be short and brutal. No a good thing, I think.

Oops Duncan, I get what you mean – it took a moment.
Modern civilized life has it’s good sides, but it also has some very bad sides.
Most people living in and of the wilderness, don’t want to change lifestile. It’s only when their territory is being taken over by farmers and such, that they unwillingly have to move into cities and become third grade human beings. A free human being crave a lot of space, and when space is sparse humans become beggars

  30. makati1 on Fri, 23rd Aug 2019 9:07 pm

claes, how would the Bedouins fare in a 150F Sahara without even oasis? Or the Eskimos in a land without seals, or fish and the land turning into a sponge as it melts? There is no “fun” ahead, just work and pain and the end.

  31. makati1 on Fri, 23rd Aug 2019 9:10 pm

“Is the U.S. Becoming a Third World Nation?”

“Back in the day, nations that didn’t qualify as either developed (First World) or developing (Second World) were by default Third World, impoverished, corrupt and what we now refer to as failed states–governments that were incapable of improving the lives of their people and the machinery of governance, generally as a result of corruption and self-serving elites, i.e. kleptocracies….

And lets’ not forget #9: the vast majority of the economic gains flow to the elite at the very top of the wealth-power pyramid: is this true in the U.S.? Definitively yes. Just look at this chart: this is a chart of an informal kleptocracy which cloaks itself in the faux finery of democracy and a (rigged) “market” economy.
That’s the very definition of a Third World failed state.”

BTW: The Philippines is second world, not third.

Its just a way to threaten people so that they will come to church and donate big sums of money in which these priests enjoy a lavish lifestyle. Ideally these priests should wear only a simple clothing and live in a small home.

The only way the civilization could end is if a big asteroid attacks us.
Otherwise there will not be any end, humans know how to adapt to any time of changing climate. If the global warming impacts us, people will move fast into renewable energy and find a way to capture carbon.

Wow, climate change goes prime time!

The indonesian capital Jakarta, for three centuries aka Batavia (but that was deemed too Dutch for the 1948 US-backed Indonesian revolutionaries, but I digress), is facing end-of-life already:

Jakarte is 40% below seelevel (how Dutch!), tendency: increasingly so. In response, the indonesian government has decided to built a new capital on the island of Borneo, so far only known for its monkeys, a circumstance inlikely to change very much in the future.

The 25 million inhabitants of Jakarta will remain where they are, mostly out of lack of funds. Perhaps government provided swimming lessons are in the cards.

Well that escalated quickly. One day after we reported that Turkey had deployed hundreds of tanks, armored personnel carriers and commandos to the last rebel-held Syrian province of Idlib in response to the killing of five Turkish soldiers, resulting in clashes between the Syrian and Turkish armies, on Tuesday morning, the armed conflict between the two nations escalated dramatically after social media showed dramatic footage of Turkey-backed rebels downing a Syrian government helicopter in northwest Syria’s Nairab.
