Discuss this article at the  Collapse Morning Wake-Up Call table inside the Diner

Working up the energy for a blog for Sunday Collapse Brunch this week has been tough for a few reasons.  Health wise, I am doing crappy again, but this isn’t the only problem.  My main computer is also getting close to death, it was crashing on me about every hour for a few days.  Now it seems to be in a sort of remission.and hasn’t crashed since late last night.  So I am risking writing an article and hoping I don’t lose it before I have a chance to publish.

Beyond the health issues and technical problems there are other deeper ones ongoing here.  As I peruse the headlines on the Google Search Engine each day there is a new riot occurring in a new city.  The entire continent of South America appears to be on fire now.  Colombia, Chile, Venezuela, Brazil…you can bring up Videos now on YouTube that are IRL versions of Children of Men every day.  Then there’s Hong Kong, Paris, Barcelona and of course Istanbul & Tehran.  Spin the Globe and plop your finger down  any randm spot at all and you can find an ongoing political collapse.

Meanwhile here in the FSoA and across the Pond in Jolly Old England you have the Kabuki Theater productions of Impeachment and Brexit, which is almost not worth commenting on with so much more havoc ongoing in other nations as we speak, where people are literally being mowed down in the streets.  Here exploding in numbers are the number of Homeless in just about every Big Shity from New York to Chicago to Seattle to Los Angeles.  With that exploding population we are seeing Diseases now we haven’t seen in such numbers ince the Middle Ages.  Typhus, Typhoid Fever, Cholera, their all making a comeback in ever increasing numbers.

The above video is just one of hundreds you can Google up these days if you are concerned about this ever growing problem.  Cities and towns all across the country are passing laws that essentially criminalize homelessness, so the current  solution seems to be to put them in jail  Can we really build enough jails to give all these folks 3 Hots and a Cot?  It’s notoriously expensive to drop people in jail also, it costs nearly double wnat I live on per year these days, but building Affordable Housing isn’t being done much.  There aren’t the job programs or  jobs to give these folks something productive to do with their lives.  They are of course disproportionately Black, Brown and Hispanic people, but plenty of poor White Trash out there too.

For the real Street level Homeless in a ramshackle tent under an overpass somewhere, they aren’t living,they are waiting to die.  There are levels and degrees of homelessness though, there are people couch surfing if they still have friends or relatives who will take them in; there are people living in RVs and Vans in the Walmart parking lots.  Does anyone have a count or keep statistics on how many people are in this situation?  I susspect it is much larger than the numbers out there sleeping rough.

Still, with all this evidence of Collapse overwhelming the Newz Cycle, there is still also a huge cadre of Amerikans who deny it is occurring, still enjoying Thanksgiving Dinner and still shopping till they drop on Black Friday, although they do it mostly Online now so you don’t have those ridiulous scenes at Walmart or Best Buy of fistfights betwen shoppers looking for a great deal on an Iphone.  If they still have a job or get enough Mailbox Money to live comfortably, they simply don’t notice all the people who have ALREADY fallen off the cliff.  Now the Clown-in-Chief is floating a plan to cut millions off from their SNAP Card allotment of monthly nourishment.  If that flies, things will not end well.  The problems you see today in Santiago or Bogota will migrate quite rapidly north of the border.

There is no question anymore, COLLAPSE HAS ARRIVED.  It can and will get a lot worse of course.  But there is no  more question for a Collapse Writer anymore of “When will SHTF Day arrive?”  It has already come and gone.  For me, it gets harder all the time to write or even just post Newz Links, because Diners have seen it all and heard it all for years now.  There’s nothing really NEW here, it’s just a steady increase in the frequency and magnitude of the events.

The same advice as always still applies, get out of the Big Shity and go off grid if you can.  If you can’t, plan for a Bugout when your neighborhood deteriorates too much. Form COMMUNITY, get together with friends and relatives you know and trust.  Prep up with Food, Fuel, Generators, Fishing Gear, traps and of course the old standby of Guns & Ammo.

I am out of the bizness of making Nostradamus Predictons of when things will thoroughly unravel in any given neighborhood.  I don’t know when it will arrive for you if it hasn’t happened to you already.  But it’s coming, and it’s coming fast.  Everybody Knows.

    Free markets are indeed dead at the upper levels. This is clear. Elsewhere markets still operate so we don’t see how at the top the system is now rigged and controlled. This is true with privilege and opportunity also. The elite have a lock on the system now with minimal ability of new entrants. Even more the elite are having their own rearrangement of the chairs. We are seeing those with excellent educations and assets being pushed around by others in a competition that has moved into the elite circus. This is also reflected in the end of American hegemony and the resulting multi-polar world. This is what one can envision late stage capitalism to be. If we reflect on history the end of civilizations involves carrying capacity issues but also the corruption and infighting of the elite. This has usually been the case except where hostile forces have conquered other civilizations. This can’t happen now because we are one civilization in globalism and in overshoot so the result is a global collapse at some point.

    We are in a collapse process at many levels. We know the science of climate and planetary carrying capacity issues. Our civilization is also coming apart at the top. What is still unknown is the nature of the process. Since free markets are all but over in regards to a traditional economic cycle we now have an adapted one. The same cyclical forces are present it is just now they will be manifested differently. One of the biggest is the slow build up of mal-investment from bad decisions being allowed. When this is systematic then you have actual infrastructure and soft structures of human behavior in economics, social, and political being created. These then become the seeds of decline because they do not properly allocate scares resources. They create structures for further mal-investment. What results is nonproductive assets, non-performing loans, and barriers to good growth by a blocking or pushing out process. This is happening at a time when more problems are demanding better solutions with more energy. That cannot end well but when?

    The third issue is MMT and central bank policy strategy in regards to Green mandates and the socialism of MMT. There needs to be policy efforts for Green efforts but is a central bank the place for it? Is the coming socialism of MMT the answer either? What it is likely going to turn into is just more malinvestment and wealth transfer. It will involve just more of the elites gaming the system for position. Green and the social good is not going to result. The reason for this is the starting point of these policy is “failure is not an option” and the denial of the collapse process. In this regard then policy will be flawed from the very beginning. If you do not admit we are in an end game of the status quo of globalism and its associated economic system of late stage capitalism then any policy that emanates will be a failure. Green is really delusional and dirty. Socialism is really just corrupted capitalism parading as a social good.

    Civilization is now facing the destructive change of a process of abandonment, dysfunction, and the irrational winning out over good growth, constructive social activities, and best practices of wise behavior. The unknown is how long can this go on. Globalism is extremely resilience but to a point of being brittle. If ever the basics of free capital movement, transportation, value chains, and economies of scale in JIT comparative advantage are severed then their will likely be a collapse of the center that holds our maintenance of overshoot together. We are in that undulating plateau of growth and decline but heading towards a paradigm shift of decline. This is at all level and unless society admits this the consequences are going to be severe. Even admitting this will be severe because we are carbon trapped and path dependent so collapse is inevitable no matter what we do. This then becomes an issue were truth an honesty will surface which almost always result in better circumstance. REAL Green says the only place will be with individuals and small groups. The top is corrupted beyond fixing.

    “Germany Is The Rotten Heart Of Europe”
    https://tinyurl.com/wtqgdu4 tom luongo

    “The crisis in Europe will come from Germany. Germany has entered a period of political crisis that, as yet, has not exploded…For those that want to understand the fundamental impulses which have led the European Union to where it is today and Germany’s central role one really needs to read Bernard Connolly’s “The Rotten Heart of Europe.” It’s a book that damns pretty much everyone in their monomaniacal drive for the European Project but, Germany, in particular, to me, comes across the worst. Because the design of the euro, as a currency, was guided by German industrialists looking for the advantage a single currency would bring them. This is a point I’ve made many times that the single exchange rate underprices the value of Northern European industrial entities while overpricing Southern Europe’s productive capacity. Moreover, it raised the effective quality of the debt of those countries far above the market rate. This allowed them to borrow at far lower rates than they would ever have been able to. This has led to exactly where we are today with massive internal imbalances which have hollowed out these economies, further eroded their productive capacity and competitiveness and left them with a mountain of unpayable debt which is then used as a further means to extract the last of the country’s real wealth when the inevitable crisis hits and the debt has to be restructured. And to think that this point wasn’t understood by the people who designed the euro is to be terminally naive. This is a point not only made by Connolly but also by Gyorgy Matolcsy, the President of the Hungarian Central Bank. Thanks to a very generous regular reader I’m reading his book, “The American Empire Vs. the European Dream” right now. And Matolcsy opens the book with a scathing attack on the euro and how it never should have been introduced in the first place. Because the effects of the single currency have been wholly predictable. But he makes an even larger point than Connolly did in his book. Germany, through wealth extraction and collecting rent thanks to the exchange rate arbitrage. It may anger my German readers to hear this but, again, if you didn’t think this was the plan by some all along, to colonize countries like Greece that couldn’t be conquered militarily in WWII, then you can’t also see why the rest of Europe is becoming angry. But Matolcsy goes one step further in his criticism of Germany, saying that if that wealth extraction had been distributed throughout the EU over the twenty-plus years of the euro via investment then things would be far better today. But Germany never gave up its mercantilist mindset, preferring instead to sell Spanish and Greeks BMWs and Porsches while lending them the money at suppressed interest rates to do so.”

    “A Turkish diplomat has revealed a map which delineates waters in the Mediterranean claimed by Turkey, amid an ongoing months-long standoff with Cyprus and Greece over Turkish oil and gas exploration and drilling inside Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). “After signing deals with its own puppet state in occupied northern Cyprus and with the pseudo-government in Libya’s Tripoli, Turkey declares that it owns half of the eastern Mediterranean,” Aron Lund, an analyst at The Century Foundation, observes of the newly published map. New map outlining Turkey’s claimed continental shelf and the borders of its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), via Hurriyet Daily. Meanwhile the entire eastern side of Cyprus is claimed by the internationally disputed “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.”… This follows boiling tensions since the early summer after Turkey laid claim to waters extending a whopping 200 miles from its coast, brazenly asserting ownership over a swathe of the Mediterranean that even cuts into Greece’s exclusive economic zone. After signing deals with its own puppet state in occupied northern Cyprus and with the pseudo-government in Libya’s Tripoli, Turkey declares that it owns half of the eastern Mediterranean. https://t.co/Yvmpi7PA9t pic.twitter.com/N41ERkTTt3 — Aron Lund (@aronlund) December 3, 2019 So far Ankara has responded to threats of EU sanctions by reaffirming its rights to waters of all parts of Cyprus’ coast. Should the Turkish military attempt to enforce its drilling claims and run up against Cypriot and Greek vessels, it could spark a deadly encounter which would force the EU and reluctant NATO to finally weigh in more forcefully.”

    This study by researchers at Columbia and NYU fills in a lot of blanks…..

    What explains the cult-like reverence of Trump ditto-heads like myself for Dear Leader Trump? We now have a working hypothesis. Researchers from Columbia and New York University examined voting patterns by geographic area with internet search term frequency. The study results pointed to a strong positive correlation between support for Trump and particular internet search topics. The results were shocking, although logical.

    Fragile (Toxic) Masculinity Syndrome.

    The following internet search terms had the strongest positive correlation with support for Trump:

    “How to get girls”;
    “Penis enlargement”;
    “Penis size”;
    “Erectile Dysfunction”;
    “Hair Loss”;
    “Steroids”;
    “Testosterone”;
    “Viagra”.

    Trump ditto-heads lack the traits they perceive define masculinity. Therefore, they are innately attracted to a leader who projects these characteristics.

    Examples of Trump’s alpha masculinity as perceived by Trump ditto-heads:

    Trump uses a whig because he’s too proud to admit he’s bald.
    Trump’s bullying behavior represents the actions of an alpha male.
    Frequent golfer.
    He eats McDonald’s almost every day.
    He’s a billionaire with a hot wife who married him for his money.

    Zero Hedge https://tinyurl.com/srdolcp

    When Donald Trump sings the well-known 1950s tune “I love, I love, my calendar cat” he has modified a few of the words so that he sings (and those around him, including most vocally Vice president and Man Servant Mike Pence), “I love, I love, my scrotum sac.” I’m sure you are puzzled why substituted scrotum sac for calendar cat. We have this answer…. For some time now, intense speculation has circulated as to the origin of Donald Trump’s unique hair-doo. We finally broke the code. The Weekly Star paid a source “in excess of $1 million” to produce close-up photos that show a pubic hair transplant from Trump’s scrotum sac, anus area, armpits, and upper back to his head. The process occurred over a six-month period and involved multiple procedures. The article and photos were published in the October 2018 edition of the weekly newspaper.

    JuanP personality type
    narcissistic sociopathy, or what some circles might call “psychopathy”. Criminology indicates that not all criminals are full blown narcissistic sociopaths, but most full blown narcissistic sociopaths are criminals. Some are simply more successful criminals than others, and this usually depends on their ability to blend in and mimic or manipulate normal people. Full blown narcissistic sociopaths (or psychopaths) make up around 1% of any given population, but are responsible for the vast majority of violent crimes or criminal enterprises. The lion’s share of justice system resources are used in dealing with these people, as they are four to eight times more likely than the average person to use violence in daily interactions or as a tool to gain advantage, and twenty-five times more likely to end up in prison. There is a long list of character traits that make a narcissistic sociopath, but the defining features are a complete lack of conscience and empathy, a propensity for moral relativism (the ability to rationalize any and all destructive behavior), a desperate need to be adored or admired by everyone around them, a feeling of being “more special” than most people, a feeling of superiority, delusions of grandeur or an inherent right to manage the lives of others, an obsessive need to control and manipulate, impulsive desires and deviant sexual inclinations, and elitist associations (they will only associate with people they feel are like them and are “equally superior”). A defining fact of narcissistic sociopathy is that these traits are inborn, not a product of environment. In some cases environment can play a role in activating these traits, but if a person is not born with them, they generally do not adopt them later in life because of a traumatic environment. The following documentaries linked here and here are an excellent overview of high level narcissistic sociopaths. Narcissistic sociopaths defy all forms of treatment and cannot be reformed. They have no concrete personality beyond these traits, therefore, if you remove the traits, they are left with nothing else. They are almost anti-human; while most people are born with unique personality combinations, narcissistic sociopaths have none, so they mimic the personalities of those around them, mirroring behaviors and collecting or stealing quirks.

Germany says Russia has been uncooperative in the ongoing investigation of the murder of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, a 40-year-old former Chechen rebel commander found to have have been shot in the head from behind at a central Berlin park in August. According to the Daily Mail, lawyer Dustin McDaniel – the former Attorney General for Arkansas, filed a motion to withdraw after he says Biden’s personal lawyer ‘advised’ him that he was being discharged. “(C)ounsel will take all steps reasonably practical to protect defendant’s interests and make every effort to ensure an efficient and judicious transition for new counsel,” wrote McDaniel. Lunden Roberts, 28, is suing Biden for $11,000 in legal fees, plus child support payments after a DNA test revealed he was the father. Biden, meanwhile, says he’s broke an has requested that the judge seal his financial records due to “significant debts” despite having been paid vast sums of money while sitting on the board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma. Hunter was ordered by Judge Don McSpadden to provide at least three years of tax returns before he could reach a decision on monetary support for the child, whose name and gender have not been revealed. Biden has requested that his financial records be sealed to avoid public ’embarrassment’ over claims of ‘significant debts,’ according to the Mail. In addition to preventing the disclosure of Biden’s alleged debts, it is thought information on his business ventures, investments, expenses, taxes and personal property valuations would also be included in the documents. -Daily Mail”

    How America Ends

    A tectonic demographic shift is under way. Can the country hold together?

    But the biggest driver might be demographic change. The United States is undergoing a transition perhaps no rich and stable democracy has ever experienced: Its historically dominant group is on its way to becoming a political minority—and its minority groups are asserting their co-equal rights and interests. If there are precedents for such a transition, they lie here in the United States, where white Englishmen initially predominated, and the boundaries of the dominant group have been under negotiation ever since. Yet those precedents are hardly comforting. Many of these renegotiations sparked political conflict or open violence, and few were as profound as the one now under way.

    Sometime in the next quarter century or so, depending on immigration rates and the vagaries of ethnic and racial identification, nonwhites will become a majority in the U.S.

    As partisans have drifted apart geographically and ideologically, they’ve become more hostile toward each other. In 1960, less than 5 percent of Democrats and Republicans said they’d be unhappy if their children married someone from the other party; today, 35 percent of Republicans and 45 percent of Democrats would be, according to a recent Public Religion Research Institute/Atlantic poll—far higher than the percentages that object to marriages crossing the boundaries of race and religion.

    But this is now going to change. The US has about the same size as continental Europe from Atlantic to Ural mountains: 10 million km2. Europe has more than 30 countries, the US is exactly 1. I do not expect that 30 or more countries will emerge “after the break”, but 5 at least.

    But the president’s defeat would likely only deepen the despair that fueled his rise, confirming his supporters’ fear that the demographic tide has turned against them. That fear is the single greatest threat facing American democracy, the force that is already battering down precedents, leveling norms, and demolishing guardrails. When a group that has traditionally exercised power comes to believe that its eclipse is inevitable, and that the destruction of all it holds dear will follow, it will fight to preserve what it has—whatever the cost

    Trump is president, use that circumstance, white America. It might be now or never.

    Eurasia will be on your side, as we have all the interest in seeing the breakup succeed.

    41 inconvenient truths on the new energy economy.

    https://fee.org/articles/41-inconvenient-truths-on-the-new-energy-economy/#disqus_thread

    A lot of points here that can be summed up quite succinctly. Compared to conventional natural gas or nuclear power, a unit of wind power requires about 10 times as much material and energy investment. When the energy and materials cost of storage is accounted for, more like twenty times. There is no possibility whatever of relying upon renewable energy to provide anything like the first world lifestyles to which we have become accustomed. No is there any possibility of replacing more than a small fraction of fossil fuel energy with renewable energy before the middle of this century.

    “41 inconvenient truths on the new energy economy.”

    Source: conservative Reagan Era Manhattan Institute. A club of climate deniers and never ending growth and geopolitical advantage through shale oil development, spearheaded by author of Antius link, Mark Mills:

    “Manhattan Institute fellows highlight how abundant and affordable power helps fuel growth and prosperity across the globe. The Institute’s energy policy research is focused on climate, geopolitics, regulations, and technology.

    In 2005, Institute senior fellows Peter Huber and Mark Mills released the book The Bottomless Well, which disputes several popular beliefs about energy. Bill Gates described it as “the only book I’ve seen that really explains energy, its history, and what it will be like going forward”.[75] Published amid concern about “peak oil”, the book points out that expanding energy supplies mean higher productivity, more jobs, and a growing GDP. Mills has written extensively on the geopolitical opportunities presented by the American energy sector. In a 2016 report, he argued that there has “never been a more opportune time for America to capture the geopolitical ‘soft power’ benefits from greater oil production and exports”. Further, Mills makes the case that the U.S. is poised for a boom in the shale oil industry, driven by technological advancements—specifically big-data analytics.

    Institute senior fellow Oren Cass argues that the popular conception of climate change as posing an existential threat to modern civilization is not supported by climate science or economics. ”

    Any support for that figure?

    And you do realize that in contrast to nuclear and fossil, “high material and energy investment renewables”, the fuel comes for free.

    And then there is the environmental cost comparison. A non-issue according your Manhattan Institute.

    Mills suggests that car batteries won’t suffice as storage. Right Mills, straw-man.

    Real storage options, that’s hydrogen or seasonal storage of solar or industrial heat, not batteries.

    “Compared to conventional natural gas or nuclear power, a unit of wind power requires about 10 times as much material and energy investment.”

    Most material in an offshore wind turbine is steel. And yes, you require a lot of that, like 1000 ton for a 5 MW turbine. But it is wrong to attribute to this tower a lifespan of 30 years, where in reality the steel can be reused indefinitely. After 30 (50?) years you can extract a monopile and put it in an electric arc furnace (powered by wind electricity!) and create a new monopile at merely 10% of the energy cost it takes to create a monopile from ore. Repeat cycle till kingdom comes.

    Here is my point regarding recycling steel monpiles:

    https://deepresource.wordpress.com/2017/05/14/nuon-dismantles-offshore-wind-farm-in-the-netherlands/

    After 24 years of solid service in Holland these 4 “offshore” turbines were dismantled, not because they had reached technical end-of-life (they easily could have continue to function for another 25 years) but because they had become outdated with their 500 kW power, where new machines are 10-20 times as large.

    About the energy investment:

    https://deepresource.wordpress.com/2017/01/07/gold-mine-north-sea/

    One 6 MW offshore windturbine over 30 years produces the equivalent of 800,000 barrel of oil or 120,000 ton of oil. It takes 2.07 barrel of oil to produce 1 ton of steel. 1300 ton for a 6 MW offshore windturbines require ca. 2700 barrel of oil. 800,000/2700 = ca. 300. That EROI is obviously too high, as you need energy for oterh activities too, like transport, installation, nacelle, blades, but it makes clear that EROI of offshore wind is NOT an issue. And steel is dirt cheap and abundant.

    https://deepresource.wordpress.com/2017/09/05/eroi-of-offshore-wind-power-continued/

    Here I calculation I made regarding EROI of the 4 MW turbines in the Dutch Gemini windpark. Energy payback time: 158 days, or half a year. EROI 50 or higher, only if you calculate against a single cycle use of the monopile/tower. With every next cycle the EROI increases. EROI is not an issue for large offshore wind turbines.

    “Europe has never been the leader of the world.”

    Americans like mobster not only suck at geography but at history as well (and math, science and reading, according to the latest PISA figures). Until Anglos and Soviets showed up as uncle Schmull’s water carriers, Europe + Britain ruled the world:

    https://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/images/user3303/imageroot/2016/06/11/20160612_nothing.jpg

    America would not be independent from Britain without France.

    But in 2020 Russia is thoroughly post-commie (read: post-jew) and hence has become European marriage material.

    640 million continental Europeans and 1350 million Chinese, all nuclear armed to the teeth.

    I wouldn’t sell America a life insurance.LOL

    America was a mistake but is now going to be corrected. Most people in the third world want to live in white lands, right, anonymous? Now even white Americans want that too. This is where things get mighty interesting.

    If even Trump, Maher and the Atlantic speculate about CW2, rest assured it is going to happen. I only have to harvest your links, you mobster-fool.

    “Oh yeah. Never mind then. I’m sure that nothing those people write is true.”

    I didn’t say that, just provided some background.

    The calculations are mine and were a response, not to the Manhattan blokes, but to your unsubstantiated statement about the cost of equipment being 10-20 times as high for solar-wind as compared to conventional, leaving out fuel cost.

    And now for something entirely different, oh dear, small world:
