I have to disagree with you on that.
The Ds are choosing their presidential nominee right now. Far from being "lost", they are defining where they are in this process.
There is fight in the D party between the moderate left and the far left. This is nothing new....just about every D primary since 1968 has seen the same fight between moderate left and far left. Biden along with Hickenlooper and Bullock etc. are the candidates of the moderate left wing of the party, and Sanders and Warren and Harris for the far left.
This year the far left wing is even a bit farther left then in past years, with proposals to pay black people reparations for something that ended 150 years ago, to pay gay people reparations, to excuse all student debt, to excuse all medical debt, free medical care for all, open borders, etc. etc. Some of this is pandering and some are real policy proposals. We'll have to wait until 2021 to see which is which.
My guess is that the Ds will eventually wind up nominating a far left candidate, and since every D candidate outpolls Trump, there is a fair chance we'll see President Warren take the oath of office in 2021.
