The republicans would have to cut spending by some unimaginable magnitude to start giving money back. Sadly, the republicans only increase spending and whine when democrats cut it. Trump already started giving out money that is borrowed from the future.

Here's a bold prediction for you, do you need a wall when nobody wants to come? What happens if electing Trump really is like dropping a nuke into American society? Partly, I suppose nothing. In terms of short-term impact the people wanting to come here put themselves on paths that can't just be changed because things have gone wonky over here. When you watch that video that Rob_Cloutier despised you can see the kind of thinking they have to use at work. Everything about the encounter is focused on Trump. There isn't any dealing with the democratic masses and their opposition role in the process. Consequently, when Trump eventually passes, as all people do, they think it will all go back to business as usual. It's not just Trump, though.

Because it isn't just Trump all of us have to worry. Case in point is the nut job who went into the Washington DC pizza place with a gun yesterday, based upon faux news reports he'd heard and wanted to go and check out himself. Say what you will about the main stream media, but it serves a purpose beyond whether it tells your version of the truth. The fact that it is becoming more and more irrelevant rather than responding to the economics of the times and becoming relevant tells a bad story all by itself, one which doubtless has causes on both ends. What's really happening is that all of us are being swept up in a wave of ignorance. We are all losing trust in our institutions. We are all beginning to distrust the ethics of those who run things. We are losing our grip on truth. Buckle up because that means that emotion will more and more run things. Emotion is very selfish. It loves its own version of the truth. The more it looks like something is getting done, the less anything will actually be getting done. The thing is, you can't ever really go post-truth. Eventually you wake up from the time when you thought you could. You wake up into whatever world your past transgressions or good deeds have given you.

Its not necessarily ignorant to distrust our "institutions". Its actually a very rational response to repeated major failures of those institutions.

The NAFTA free trade that the media and govemrent sold as making America rich wound up destroying jobs for our working class. The 2009 crisis grew because our banks and regulators screwed up. The war in Iraq in 2003 happened because our government institutions screwed up. The current wars in Libya, Iraq, Syria and the failure to end the war in Aghanistan all reflect failures of the current administration. The DNC lied to Ds and secretly tilted to Hillary in the D primary. People in the mainstream media actually gave Hillary the Presidential debate questions in advance. Other people in the MSM sent Hilalry their stories in advance, so the Ds could rewrite them to make them even more biased in favor of the Ds. etc. etc.

It really doesn't surprise me that there was a populist revolt against the establishment and people voted for Trump. I've been voting for third parties to protest against the establishment for years.

Cheers!

President Donald J. Trump Domestic Pt. 2

Unread postby KaiserJeep » Thu 15 Mar 2018, 10:10:10

If you are a 1%er, the answers are obvious. The last purpose, the most critical purpose, and the only purpose that even matters anymore is that of consumer and tax payer. As long as you can pay your own way, as long as you are a net consumer of paid goods and services, as long as you have an income (seperate from the government dole supported by their taxes), your existence will be tolerated.

But if you are a useless burden upon the taxpayer, you will be targeted for elimination, via policy and via practice. Take for example the large numbers of old people that cannot pay for the increasingly expensive healthcare we have today, or pay $100 a day for medication. They have been targeted for elimination via "Obamacare". Make the government responsible for your food and the warm space you sleep in, and they will have further incentives and further opportunities to eliminate the surplus humans.

"Those who are badly off must go there." "Many can't go there; and many would rather die." "If they would rather die," said Scrooge, "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

I was commenting on Trump's style, primarily, to completely tell a fib before preceding to reverse himself and do the wrong thing.

Obama was not so innocent either and employed this same MO during his campaign, but the time frame was longer than a day.

I think you meant "dystopian". Both Scrooge and myself are advocating the red pill. If you think that Obamacare was about getting you cheaper medical care, you took the blue pill. If you think any politician does things for your benefit, you took at least two blue pills. If you think government is anything but a necessary evil, you have a bottle of blue pills.

Just an aside. Trump is moving along in his typical style. Every once in a while he has a flashback to his days on The Apprentice, and says "You're Fired!" to a cabinet member. Now with John Bolton nominated, we have a man who has openly advocated that we pre-emptively strike various enemies with nuclear weapons. Surely, Congress will reject him - won't they?

Meanwhile he is pretty much dismantling everything Green that Obama ever pretended to do, which doesn't seem to make any real difference, other than making Greenies scream in outrage.

Then there's the looming trade war, and he's drumming up support for that as he strips the labor support from the Democrats.

Then there is the latest bimbo scandal, where the busomy porn star "Stormy" is alleging she had sex with him.

Just one more thing. His approval rating among likely voters is about 30% higher than when he beat HRC, a new record for him.

Do you really think that pretending that the AGW issue isn't a long term problem (so that changes in policy SHORT TERM won't "seem to make any real difference") is going to make the majority of folks who are willing to look at all the evidence and "believe in AGW" come over to "your side"?

Or do you not understand how the AGW issue is a many decade problem?

I did not even refer to your sick obsession about AGW. I was talking about Donald Trump. Nobody likes him, including me. Most people detest him. Yet if another election were held today, he'd win it handily over any Democrat you care to name.

It's astonishing, is what it is. All the old political rules are in the trash heap. He (or his political handler Roger Stone) figured out a way for him to Tweet his way into the White House. I look for him to do something astonishing like win the Democratic nomination as the 2020 candidate for POTUS next.

But of course. If you're in denial about the scientific reality, then it must be "sick".

I'm no automatic Trump hater, but I think you're delusional about how handily he'd win another election.

No, I called it sick because it's your obsession, and something 99% (at least) will never care enough about to change their lifestyles. Including you. You still eat imported food, still travel in ICE vehicles, still take power from the grid, don't you?

So you claim to be a true believer, you just don't act like you are.
