Greta Thunberg's Voyage Pt. 2

The rich don't want to give up their excessive levels of consumption. THAT is a major component of the problem. One Klaus Schwab or Al Gore has an ecological footprint to match that of 50+ McMansion-dwelling Joe Sixpacks or 500+ sub-Saharan Africans. As usual, the policy leaders are trying to find a way to ignore the problem, OR find a way to put it to the poor and middle class to cut their living standards to "solve" it while the elites can continue to have whatever they want regardless of the environmental impact.

Solutions bandied about such as cap-and-trade, or intensive carbon footprint monitoring at the individual level(that will ultimately exempt and further enrich the elites) WON'T solve it because they fail to address the problem while allowing the biggest polluters and consumers to continue on. The consumption habits of today's middle class are also the direct result of deliberate decisions made by policy leaders to assure the flow of money to entrenched industries by "growing" the GDP, and instead of all of that increased wealth being shared with everyone who helped generate it, it's been concentrated in the hands of the few, while wasteful consumption has been rendered a compulsory prerequisite for existence in society.

The price of this failure may be destruction of what remains of the natural world and/or even eventual human extinction.

many before have done better at pointing it out but they didn't get the 'air-time' she did. The limits to growth study put all this forward 50 years ago! There is no point educating the masses, what are they going to do, voluntarily stop driving their cars? Fat chance of that. Vote in a leader who promises to take their cars off them? Yeah right. The solution has to came from the top and it's not this absurd delusion of electric cars either. The solution, the only the solution, is the near complete destruction of our industrial lifestyles form A/C units in every home to iphones in every pocket.

I sometimes think the only possible source of leadership would be from the spiritual leaders. The current crop is also corrupted by the current life style.

Some new ethical religious form.

Another pie in the sky. :)

Don't get ahead of yourself, just because the corrupt media only shows your corrupt religious leaders for whatever motivation does not mean all the preachers and gurus and other spiritual minded people are out to fleece the flock for personal gain.

Take David Koresh for example, his little compound of followers were self isolating and not bothering anyone. His schedule was well known including trips away from his followers on a weekly basis. Yet to make a big media show of "capturing" him the government sent teams of guys all dressed in black to do a no knock arrest warrant at his compound where it was known his followers were typically armed. Instead of a nice quite arrest on some isolated country road where Davy boy would be outnumbered 10:1 they sent a handful of guys sneaking into a compound with more like 50:1 in favor of the civilians. Who comes up with such an insane plan just for media attention?

A tyrannical government run by wealthy, manipulative, sociopathic scumbags that is seeking to create a false narrative and convince the majority of the population that said narrative is the truth. And it worked like a charm.

Greta Thunberg says she will attend the UN Climate Conference in Scotland this fall, and calls for massive public pressure to be applied to the UN and the world's governments to force them to commit to cutting CO2 emissions

Good old Greta.....still trying to organize demos to pressure senile old Joe Biden and Communist Comrade #1 Xi and Mr. Richie Rick John Kerry and all the rest of the leaders of all the rest of the countries to actually DO SOMETHING about climate change.
