It is amazing just how large a chunk can break off one of these4 state sized ice shelves in a single event. Not as traumatic as the break up of the Larsen B ice shelf where it effectively all turned to slush in a few weeks, but a considerable influence on the southern ocean with possible ecological impacts. A few years ago one of these blocked penguins from their nesting grounds and as a result a whole breeding season was lost.
I should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, design a building, write, balance accounts, build a wall, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, pitch manure, program a computer, cook, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
