Meh. Requires the 'derider' to assume an arrogant position of authority over one who may simply be guilty of poor judgement and conclusions. One person in this interaction is guilty of a certain level of malice which isn't useful at all. I'm mainly talking about interactions within this forum, not people's opinions of Chris Martenson. It's a "you're not my freakin' Daddy" thing. But, then, again, my Daddy never resorted to labeling and deriding others, but stuck to questioning their conclusions. Either you get that or you don't.

That said, while the so-called "doomers" conclusions may not have played out (yet), there's plenty to be concerned about. Dismissing those things because everything hasn't crashed yet isn't useful either. Sort of like telling a sick person everything's OK because they aren't dead yet. At least, in that case, it may be an act of kindness; a 'white lie'. In the case of our collective behavior, especially regarding the economy and climate, saying everything's OK because these systems haven't crashed yet is essentially saying it's OK to keep accumulating debt and consuming a finite planet. It's clear many folks are determined to keep consumers consuming as if there will be no consequences. Will there be adverse consequences if spending drops? Absolutely.
That's the nature of a predicament => damned if you do; damned if you don't. Predicaments are inherently doomish. In that light, deriding people for being "doomers" seems sort of preposterous and lazy. It is their absolute right to worry about such things and express those worries..

That's simply a strawman of a different color. We're not saying "everything is OK". We're just checking those who make very specific short-term predictions of doom. That's the main reason why this forum is a ghost-town, the chicken-little effect of making too many bad calls too many times to have any credibility. That is what's not productive, as it causes everyone to tune out. There's really only a certain demographic or mindset which is amenable to a daily IV drip of doom, the zerohedge crowd as evidenced by Armageddon. The rest of us are busy getting on with the rest of our lives rather than cowering in fear.

HALL OF SHAME:
-Short welched on a bet and should be shunned.
-Frequent-flyers should not cry crocodile-tears over climate-change.

BAU requires at least one more earth. There is no such thing.
