Marxist Ideological Purity Test

I am curious where the board members rate on this test of "Socialist Values". If you are willing please take the test (about 5 minutes long) and post your results. As a former Union Steward I scored "Utopian Socialist"

LeftValues is a leftist quiz inspired by and based upon the 8values quiz that seeks to identify your position on the left-wing spectrum. If you are not a leftist, this quiz is obviously not suited for you. You will be presented with a statement, and then you will answer with your opinion on the statement, from Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree, with each answer slightly affecting your scores. The questions for each axes are presented in order, rather than scattered. At the end of the quiz, your answers will be compared to the maximum possible for each value, thus giving you a percentage. Answer honestly!

There are 72 questions in the test.

The test was so biased I couldn't get past the first few questions. It seems to me that every question presupposes some evil due to "capitalism" and then asks how much you support socialism to fix them.

I'm just back from a visit to Africa, and was able to go to both Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Both of these are failed socialist states. Zimbabwe in particular is a total economic basket case, with over 90% unemployment, rampant government corruption, single party rule for decades, and ongoing violent repression of workers and opposition political groups by the "socialist" party that runs the country. In Zimbabwe over half the population depends on the UN and other charity groups for food.

And thats in the good times....they're entering another economic crisis now and things are going to get even worse. The opposition organized peaceful pro-democracy demonstrations in Harare when I was there, and the government sent out the police and various leftist militia groups to beat them off the streets with whips and sticks.

Image
Hooray for socialism (would you please give us some food....we're starving!)

Sorry....I can't see why people support this sort of thing.

That is why the test gives the option "Strongly Disagree" for questions you dislike.

OK...I took the test. Here's my result:

Closest Match:Utopian Socialism
Utopian Socialism is a form of pre-Marxist socialism that belives highly in an egalitarian, moralistic and idealistic foundation for a socialist society. Utopian Socialists generally reject violent revolution and often believe the ruling class can be convinced to adopt socialism.

Apparently even if you strongly disagree with the fundamental tenets of socialism you are still some of socialist. That is somehow.....liberating. I am socialist! A utopian socialist! And I didn't even know it!

Comrades! Brothers! Let us join together in building a better world! Venceremos! Socialismo!

Cheers!

Yup. Same result for me.

This test is written for people who believe in socialism. There are NO results which would say capitalism is preferred, and the way various questions are framed imply that socialism is the answer (and there's no way to disagree).

While (I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for being) well meaning, I don't see this test as useful UNLESS you are a socialist at heart.

I find political spectrum tests, like those on libertarian sites, where there are two dimensions, both the freedom and the financial, to be FAR more useful re figuring out where you are on the political map. The usual left-right only way of describing political positions in American politics is, IMO, almost useless. It just doesn't convey enough information.

Elsewhere I took one of these tests one axis was Left/Right the other was Authoritarians/Anarchist. I came out as Ghandi !!!!

It’s pretty hard to see how me being a centrist on most everything except ecological makes me a Centrist Marksist. It doesn’t help that they don’t show the axis. How do you interpret these titles?

Cog, I ask you to please take the test and publish your results. We did this once before on a 2 axis test and we came out somewhat similar with me being a bit less authoritarian and slightly left.

Closest Match:Market Anarchism
Market Anarchism is a form of anarchism that mixes anarchist goals such as the abolition of hierarchy, the state and capitalism with heightened individualism and a moderate reformist approach. This should not be confused with Anarcho-Capitalism.

Actually I'm probably more a Anarcho Capitalist.
Here is my link to the full results if you want to see more.

https://leftvalues.github.io/results.html?a=35.3&b=47.1&c=15.0&d=48.2&e=31.3&f=26.4&g=56.3

I'd love to see COGs result...

Utopian socialist followed by centrist marxist. It did correctly identify me as very conservative with regard to environment and production. But I hate socialism and marxism. I agree with plant and outcast. The test presumes you are already a socialist and try to determine what type you are. That is a flawed methodology.

Reminds me of that political compass test from around three decades back where almost everyone I know got left-of-center but whose economic class was the opposite.

I don't understand how economic class is an indication of left or right of center.

Are we talking stereotypes (and if so, which ones)? Or am I missing something?

...

Examples of left/right political class stereotypes I'm thinking of:

Liberals equating Trump voters with being "poor", but they're above average wealth, overall.

Or right wingers equating liberals either with the urban poor or with rich liberals (which can't both be true as an economic class for liberals, obviously).

Or left wingers equating conservatives with poor white trash.

And on and on.

...

(OTOH, if you mean economic positions / politics by "ecnomic class", then I get it.)
