Facts are facts, and one of them is that while everybody talks about the growing forced movement of people –be they migrants or refugees—decision-makers haven’t seriously acted on the root causes of why millions of humans are compelled to leave their homes. There has been a surge in international migration in recent years, reaching a total of 244 million individuals in 2015. Forced displacement has also reached a record high, with 65.3 million individuals displaced worldwide by the end of 2015 – including refugees, internally displaced persons and asylum seekers. These figures have been repeated agin and again by the leading world specialised bodies and experts. Most importantly: they have also been explaining the major reasons behind such an unprecedented exodus. Climate Change Key Facts • In 2015, there were 244 million international migrants, representing an increase of 40% since 2000. They included 150 million

I said, on a few other threads that had to do with renewable energy, that the best way to do wind and solar is on a large scale. That way the excess capacity can be used to pump water uphill. That both stores the energy, in the form of potential energy as the water runs downhill again, and also serves as a means to redistribute the water. When the water can flow into another region from that in which it was originally pumped, going for many miles, it can not only create electricity all along the way, but serve to alleviate drought or arid conditions at the receiving end. If a country has a system like this as the world wilts under the climate change burden it will be the shining light on the hill for people in countries that don't have one. Previously, I stopped thinking about it at that point, but why should I? Systems like that could be set up all over the globe. And they could cross national boundaries, if the nations can figure out how to equate water and power as well as how to equitably trade them. Actually, in America, the states would have to reach those agreements too. Plus, if a country can make so many billions from selling fighter jets, imagine how much more they can make from selling expertise concerning both the building and operation of such a system.

The country would need lots of resources to be privatised in order to pay back the loans, might even need a change of government that is more compliant.
Fighter jets ensure the money and the system favours the team who sell the jets.
Cheap renewable electricity is a "communist plot" designed to give the poor an even break and raise their standard of living and expectations for more change.
How do the rich profit from that?

What a shock, people in poorer nations want to move to richer nations? Gee I never heard of that ever! Except wait a minute, it has been that way since the Bronze Age about 4,000 ybp!

Why should we favor a pact that saddles us with the absolute worst other countries have to offer?

Personally, if the choice is leave home or die, I would choose to live, as I'm sure would most. But I know many occupants of my small home town who never left and never would choose to leave, barring desperate circumstances. Refugees exist because this one small planet, burdened by 7.7 billion humans, is entering collapse in many places. As the population grows, so will the numbers of you people displaced.

The list of countries rejecting the 'marakesh' agreement keeps growing. Mostly the 'haves' are saying no to free admittance of surplus populations from elswhere. Of course many will label this as anti-immigrant but it is much deeper than that. A real immigrant does what they can to integrate seaking the language and adopting the culture of their new country. Many of the new wave immigrants reject ths and want their destination to adapt and accept the immigrant culture as dominant.

Plus, I think everyone realizes that the flood of migration will only get worse. Most countries are not equipped to accept virtually at once a flood of migrants. And people at the very least are wary of this trend.
