We in the first world countries would be better served in cutting them loose and letting them die-off.

I'm sure that most of them will be adopted by Hollywood stars.
I don't really see a problem.

Comforting to see the typical caring American attitude. Ignorant, of course, of our global destruction.

Yes, the current pathologies are well on display here regularly.
Speaking of which, I ran across a few new (to me) terms that others may find useful or worthy of discussion.
Pathocracy: where individuals with personality disorders (especially psychopathy) occupy positions of power and influence
Such systems are especially studies by those in the field of the study of systemic evil, or
ponerology:

.
The single factor determining population number is local food availability
any food import is basically non sustainable long term
the population carrying number is not based on the "average production" but on the expected bad year number
Food production is one of my main interest , the recent years have been very good ,
grain stocks are plentiful , prices are low ,this will change , it always does
last spike in world prices saw the Middle East racked by social troubles

And global warming is only barely getting starting.
This is what we have at about a degree C of warming. We are likely, even by rather conservative estimates, to regularly be above 2 C of extra warming within a couple decades, and as pointed out above, over 7 by centuries end.
The book "Six Degrees" stops there because that level already brings on more than apocalyptic consequences.

Yep, that book is also my reference guide. According to it once we get to 2C, above baseline, it is runaway to 6C or above. Dr. Hanson seems to agree.

https://www.vox.com/world/2017/6/1/1565 ... sis-famineFirst, South Sudan isn’t the only country in the region facing mass starvation. A potentially historic famine is also threatening Nigeria, Somalia, and Yemen. Far from Western eyes and far from the headlines, an estimated 20 million people in those four countries are at risk of dying due to a lack of food.

Will we ever be wise enough to temper our compassion with the sword of wisdom by NOT attempting survival and actually allowing solutions to human population overshoot a chance to work their magic and bring us back to some equilibrium.
We want solutions but when they are happening we want to prevent them.

This may be the new norm and it would not be immoral.

A more compassionate suggestion might be to give conditional aid- sterilisation mandatory, regardless of age. Not likely, not PC & the churches are still the main NGOs. People are still deliberately growing their families, with hands out for a handout.

Yes, what we ourselves have been unwilling and unable to do, Nature will do for us. Namely regulate ourselves in relation to our host planet

It's necessary, but it's also heart breaking.
I'm just trying to make sure I'm not a part of it.
But that hardly makes me unique. A hypocrit maybe, but far from unique.

sooooo, you have no problems when posters brand a whole swath of humanity as 'losers,' but when someone calls that poster out on their 'loser' attitude, that is when you come down with the iron hammer....
Me thinks your ideology is showing a bit here.
But I'm tired and it's late, so carry on however you wish...
Best to all.

Yes it is the difference between classism and specific targets, just like when you constantly claim all Conservatives are ignorant buffoons. You all throw feces around on this website against groups you don't like, I have given up trying to stop that. But specific insults aimed at specific posters is in a different category and when I see it I bring it to a halt if I can.
Admittedly I have a real life and don't read most threads any longer because they are simply variations on themes that were worn out 5-15 years ago. I am a volunteer like everyone else doing this because I think it is important that there is a Peak Oil clearinghouse of information on the internet.
