Guess what? Living has an 'environmental impact'...

Everything we do has an environmental impact of some form or fashion. The key is to choose the lesser of the evils. As you said it is better to find what you want on the net than to run all over in a car looking for it....couldn't have put it better.

A somewhat sardonic thought I've had is that they should give people money, in the form of carbon credits, to be voluntarily steralised. Not having children is the best thing you can do to help the environment.

I'm all for that. Unfortunately we do the reverse. We pay men and women for sperm and egg donations.
