Unbelievable, but possibly true. Just lurking and googling in your couch will join the environment impact list, as seen from this article in The Times (UK).

Still, I believe Googling for stuff has less GW impact than driving around looking for it... (':)')

Everything we do has an environmental impact of some form or fashion. The key is to choose the lesser of the evils. As you said it is better to find what you want on the net than to run all over in a car looking for it....couldn't have put it better.

Lol So does dieing.....The body during decomposition releases carbon gasses.

To quote George Lopez:

"WE CANT DO ANYTHING!"

The internet runs on coal. If we ran out of coal the internet would shutdown.

Coal produces the majority of the electricity in the US, and 41% of the electricity worldwide.

Coal powered internet! yeehaw!

A somewhat sardonic thought I've had is that they should give people money, in the form of carbon credits, to be voluntarily steralised. Not having children is the best thing you can do to help the environment.

Welll... second best, actually. But discussion of the best thing one can do in that regard is (for good reason, but nonetheless) verboten on this particular forum...

I'm all for that. Unfortunately we do the reverse. We pay men and women for sperm and egg donations.
