The 19th Amendment to the US Consttution

Yesterday June 4th was the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution. Women Democrats everywhere celebrated a "century of progress". Except that is total BS, because the 19th Amendment was crafted by Republicans, and the Democrats fought tooth and nail to prevent it's passage, and to keep women oppressed. They were entirely successful for over forty years, it should be noted.

It's just another example of Democrats attempting to revise history. It's no accident that most school children think that Abraham Lincoln, who founded the Republican party and was known as the "Great Emancipator", was a Democrat.

Thanks KJ.

I'm constantly amazed at how the D party has played such a evil role in US history for almost 200 years. From slavery to secession and treason and the confederacy to Jim Crow Laws and segregation and the KKK to the Chinese exclusion act you find the D party was to blame. I didn't know about the history of the D party blocking the vote for women, but I'm not surprised to learn the Ds were on the wrong side of history again.

I have a terrible feeling the Ds are still on the wrong side of history, and their support today for things like socialism, legalizing addictive and psychoactive drugs, racial quotas and discrimination in favor of blacks and Hispanics, and massive illegal immigration into the US of Hispanics from central America are going to be very damaging to our country.

Time will tell.

Cheers!

Unhistorical bullpoop yet again. The Democratic Party had long included the Dixiecrats, the Southern branch of the party. But when the Northern Democrats started talking about civil rights, the Dixiecrats left the party and became Republicans. That is why the Republican Party is now the party of Jefferson Davis.

From Membership of the 116th Congress: A Profile, I find
  • Female: House: D 89, R 13, tot 102, Senate: D 17, R 8, tot 25
  • Black: House: D 52, R 1, tot 53, Senate: D 2, R 1, tot 3
  • Hispanic: House: D 35, R 7, tot 42, Senate: D 2, R 3, tot 5
  • Asian/Pacific-Island: House: D 16, R 1, tot 17, Senate: D 3, R 0, tot 3
  • Native American: House: D 2, R 2, tot 4, Senate: D 0, R 0, tot 0

This is not what one would expect from the hypothesis of Republicans always good, Democrats always bad. It is also not what one would expect from the hypothesis that the present-day Democratic Party is the party of the Ku Klux Klan. The KKK would be asking what are all those non-honkies doing in the party.

The Democrat party has never abandoned slavery of blacks. But now they simply give or promise them money to buy their votes. Woke blacks have figured this out.

I don't have such a hypothesis, nor did I express such. My remarks were about the settled History of the Democratic Party during the Reconstruction through the Civil Rights era. This is not subject to debate, I remember the Civil Rights era, and I am certain that KKK membership was required of D politicians before the 1960 election.

That is not the present D party and I never said it was. I only said that D's need to acknowledge a shameful past. I am curious as to why you feel it necessary to rewrite history.

What's more of a pressing issue, acknowledging a shameful past or a shameful present?

The problem with both parties these days is extremism. I'm not happy with the modern democratic party but they are the lesser of two evils.

Sorry, but you must be totally ignorant of US history.

If you'll educate yourself you'll find that Jefferson Davis was a member of the Democrat Party. So were all of the Confederates who seceded from the US and started a civil war to protect the evil institution of slavery.

The historical fact are very clear---it was the Republican party that defeated the evil plans of the Democrats and saved the union and freed the slaves.

Cheers!

The founder of the Democrats was Andrew Jackson. He was a wealthy owner of a 1050-acre cotton plantation and approximately 150 black slaves. As a general in the Tennessee militia, he forcibly relocated Indians to reservations, later as President of th US he made this legal with the infamous Indian Relocation Act. He shares with Bill Clinton the disgrace of being one of two presidents who got impeached in office.

Your fanciful delusions about the Democrats are amusing. Your ignorance of history is appalling. You need to acknowledge the shameful origin of the modern Democratic Party. It is very different now from a century ago.

Perhaps. But no matter where he went he clearly flunked history.

Quoting out of context is not a good kind of argument.

ETA: Trent Lott - Wikiquote - former Senator from Mississippi and a Republican: "The spirit of Jefferson Davis lives in the 1984 Republican Platform."
