Bold Predictions, Trump Edition

Unread postby Pops » Mon 28 Nov 2016, 18:46:41

So this is to make predictions on the great things that will be happening as a result of trump. Just a few for now, I'll update mine as time goes by, feel free to ad yours...

No 1 of course is conflicts of interest. I think there will be multiple scandals around his businesses and those of the other billionaires in the cabinet. His lack of any attempt at removing potential conflicts just about guarantees it

2) Second will be an attack on the press, don't know if it will be "opening up" the libel laws or exactly what. [Let's just call this Attacks on 1st Ammendment]

3) Sessions will erase what is left of the voting rights act, perhaps they will press for national standards or... after all there was massive voter fraud -millions!

4) Obviously trump cares not one whit about security, Patreaus was actually convicted of worse things than HC was accused of,
Rep Elijah Cummings' (D-Md.) question:
"Do you agree with the claim that General Petraeus... 'Got in trouble for far less,' ?"

"No, it's the reverse," Comey replied.
To think that this will not be a problem...

5) Russia, not sure what, but there is something up folks...

That's a start, Rip It Up!
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.
-- Abraham Lincoln, Fragment on Government (July 1, 1854)

I predict at least two ultra-conservative members of the SCOTUS, who will swing the US Supreme Court conservative for at least a quarter century.

I predict that Trump will be too moderate for my taste. He is after all from New York and has New York values. However, if he leaves guns alone and stops muslim immigration into this country, I will consider it a vast improvement on his predecessor.

Not very bold -> increased spending and deficits -- debt to GDP skyrockets after a couple of years. Democrats come in control of legislative branch and budget becomes more rational.

Putin will reject Trumps request for asylum after he is impeached and he will put a bullet to his own head

The world economic collapse will take place in the first term as many of us predicted years ago because all those temporary boosts since 2008 are losing steam. The USA will weather the storm far better than any of the 'experts' or legacy media predict and DJT will be reelected in a 49 state landslide.
I should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, design a building, write, balance accounts, build a wall, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, pitch manure, program a computer, cook, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

"The world economic collapse will take place ..."

And because none of the practices that led to the last collapse have really been addressed, and to the extent that they have even partly, Team Trump will start by demolishing any such protections.

Hurray!! :x

I predict that Trump will NOT seek a second term.

His behavior may become erratic as the narcissistic high of the campaign wears off and the reality and burden of the office sets in.

He will go through multiple press secretaries as they grow frustrated with trying to defend/explain various conflicting unvetted messages coming directly from his phone. Or maybe he will just drop the whole weekly press conference thing and press secretary and just tweet it all out himself.

He will learn the frustration that Hillary knew of having to stick to a .gov e-mail address and servers. He'll wish he has his own server and phone again.

Or maybe he actually will keep his own phone. After all, no matter what he does, he can't be fired, right?

Finding they really both have much in common, pres. Trump and pres. Bill Clinton will become drinking/etc. buddies.

The hair will change. That nuclear football does to wonders to your fantasy of youth.

He will NEVER discover this thing called humility.

Life will go on. Governmental and life inertia is bigger than we realize. Legislation will continue to move at a snail's pace, if at all.

Trump will be the first president to establish a presidential casino after he leaves office.

He will never be on any coin or bill.

The Trump Foundation will SELL Trump portraits to the myriad Federal agencies and buildings that typically hang pictures of the standing POTUS. With all gold-leafed frames. Gold provided by Fort Knox.

Trump will get massive tax cuts for the wealthy passed in the first 100 days along with the type of massive spending that Democrats have wanted on infrastructure plus massive spending on defense. The economy will boom in the first two years - jobs, stock market, the whole enchilada  . Republicans will gain a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, Trump will resign in Triumph, Pence will take over and that's when the real fun begins. [smilie=5bullwhip.gif]

...and he wont be able to deliver on his BS promises (what ever they were???) and look weak because of it and it will effect his business long term.

Yes but there is a sucker born every minute. Trumps people are visiting the Canadian tar sands today to see how fast they can ramp up production. Yes oil is pretty cheap now but they know that the construction boom will pressure prices up. Eliminate regulations on fracking and mining too - Trump will get all that through a reconciliation budget maneuver to avoid a filibuster.

One promise he won't deliver is deportation. He will need the workers.

We don't need illegals to do the work. I might even un-retire if the money is right.

Just to note, OPEC just cut production so I think maybe prices are headed up.

Regarding the tarsands: Republicans want the pipeline, so I would think that will be to Canada's advantage in their NAFTA negotiations.

About immigrant labor -- an irony is that it would be latino labor building "the wall."

You take immigrant labor side by side with native born American labor. No comparison. Immigrants are harder working, they have stronger family values, have little entitlements, and don't use crystal meth.

I have to disagree with you and Comey on this. Petraeus let his girlfriend (an American citizen) see some papers and left some unsecured in his house. Hillary left (we know not what because She deleted them) possibly thousands of documents, some classified on a unsecured server where it might have been hacked and probably was. Hillary's transgressions may have gotten several CIA agents killed and certainly compromised many other operations to the point where agents have had to be withdrawn because we don't know what was in the emails deleted and possibly hacked.
Unless Comey had complete access to all of Hillary's emails ( including all the deleted/whitewashed ones) as well as all the documents Petraeus left unsecured he could not determine which breach of security was the more damaging.
