True. Most people die from OTHER causes of death 8O

Interesting how the NRA and Florida respond, just like Archie Bunker did in 1970. That shows you the type of arguments put forth to promote the proliferation of guns:

Understand, NOBODY is promoting the proliferation of guns. Somebody started a rumor about 8 years ago, that Obama was going to ban the sale of the AR-15 type weapons. Immediately sales went through the roof, and the number of AR-15s in civilian hands went from 1.5 million to 8 million in a short period of time.

The right to keep and bear arms is a much beloved right found in the US Constitution. At this point in time, the US civilians have several times the number of guns as all of the US Armed Forces.

Governor Bevin answering a question about gun violence and societal influences. For me he nails what is wrong with a sick society. Your thoughts?

I think he hit the nail on the head. The problem we have is changing mores and changing culture and (yes, I'll admit it) technology that gives you this view of a virtual world:

..YES this is an AR-15 type weapon in an urban landscape similar to many schools. There is also a score representing total kills.

IMHO, everybody should watch the 8 minute video above.

Dad was a lifetime NRA member. We always had a 410 laying in the corner with a box of shells handy.

Dad always said handguns are meant for one thing, killing people.

I was not allowed to own toy guns but got a real shotgun at 10yo.

That mindset died a long time ago for the vast majority of this country.

Funny, think of it this way, does pornography increase the chance of rape? I’ve heard arguments both ways. I find porn more entertaining and less disturbing than these shooter games, or much TV or movies for that matter.

I agree with him. It is an amoral screwed society that voted for Donald Trump.
You agree with this video and you voted for a man who grabs p*****s and is a racist and launders millions of Russian money to save his ass from running a casino into bankruptcy?

Ibon, WTF is this obsession with Donald Trump? You drag his name into many threads, to no purpose that I can see.

The problems in the USA did not start with Donald Trump, and they won't end after he leaves office. Which will probably be after a second term, BTW, because he is doing a whole bunch of things that a whole bunch of people want to see done.

I don't like Trump. I also don't know anybody that does. But he is the effective antithesis of recent actions by the Democratic administrations of Obama, whom I regard as a huge disappointment.

There have been many bad presidents. In fact, they outnumber the good ones.

No obsession. I just don't understand how Cog can resonate with a video about moral decline in America on one hand and then vote and support an amoral president. There is a contradiction.

I liked the video by the way except for including the tens of millions of abortions as an example of moral decline. Abortions are about terminating an unwanted child. Unwanted children end up in broken families and are more susceptible to many of the destabilizing cultural trends the guy in the video was discussing. That seemed to be some serious cognitive dissonance.

There is the part about "better than the alternative offered" as well of course.

Yes, it is a sick society that wants to own assault rifles and do drugs. I say let them do drugs. We are fighting the wrong war.
