Don't feel to bad, yesterday I posted a long message and the internet ate it never to be seen again. Much easier to delete a double post than recreate a missing one.

I saw on CSI that a stutter before finally cutting ones' throat is typical... maybe your subconscious is trying to signal something important?

LoL

[^ not incitement to suicide ^]

Why is everything in bold now all the time?

Hey, I'll have you know we spent years of effort honing that tome to cover our every prejudice, pretense and prevarication.

It's a glitch in the Matrix ...

Neo: Whoa. Déjà vu.
[Everyone freezes right in their tracks]
Trinity: What did you just say?
Neo: Nothing. Just had a little déjà vu.
Trinity: What did you see?
Cypher: What happened?
Neo: A black cat went past us, and then another that looked just like it.
Trinity: How much like it? Was it the same cat?
Neo: It might have been. I'm not sure.
Morpheus: Switch! Apoc!
Neo: What is it?
Trinity: A déjà vu is usually a glitch in the Matrix. It happens when they change something.

"Indiscipline"

I do remember one thing.
It took hours and hours but..
by the time I was done with it,
I was so involved, I didn't know what to think.
I carried it around with me for days and days..
playing little games
like not looking at it for a whole day
and then.. looking at it.
to see if I still liked it.
I did.

I repeat myself when under stress.
I repeat myself when under stress.
I repeat myself when under stress.
I repeat myself when under stress.
I repeat..

The more I look at it,
the more I like it.
I do think it's good.
The fact is..
no matter how closely I study it,
no matter how I take it apart,
no matter how I break it down,
It remains consistant.
I wish you were here to see it.

I like it.

Sometimes when I post exceptional comments I'll repeat them just to make sure everyone realizes how smart I am.

I'm glad you explained that. I noticed the repeated posts, but I thought it was for a different reason.

My exceptional comments always disappear. When I go back and read what I wrote, all that's left is pap.

Once I received a phone call in Finland from somebody I didn't know who told me I was so quiet and asked if I'm at the extremes of computing... and I started to suspect that something wonky is going on... and Einstein told me I'm not the perfect citizen.

Who is these days ?

The 2nd cat is the 1st's doppelganger. No need to get concerned.

Abort, Retry, Ignore?
With Apologies to Edgar Allen Poe……..

Once upon a midnight dreary, fingers cramped, and vision bleary,
Systems manuals piled high and wasted paper on the floor,
Longing for the warmth of bed sheets, still I sat there doing spreadsheets.
Having reached the bottom line I took a floppy from the drawer.
I then invoked the SAVE command and waited for the disk to store.
Only this, and nothing more.

Deep into the monitor peering, long I sat there wond’ring, fearing,
Doubting, while the disk kept churning, turning yet to churn some more.
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token.
“Save!” I said, “You cursed mother! Save my data from before!”
One thing did the phosphors answer, only this and nothing more,
Just “Abort, Retry, Ignore?”

Was this some occult illusion, some maniacal intrusion?
These were choices undesired, ones I’d never faced before.
Carefully I weighed the choices as the disk made impish noises.
The cursor flashed, insistent waiting, baiting me to type some more.
Clearly, I must press a key, choosing one and nothing more.
From, “Abort, Retry, Ignore?”

With fingers pale and trembling, slowly toward the keyboard bending,
Longing for a happy ending, hoping all would be restored,
Praying for some guarantee, timidly, I pressed a key.
But on the screen there still persisted words appearing as before.
Ghastly grim they blinked and taunted, haunted, as my patience wore,
Saying, “Abort, Retry, Ignore?”

I tried to catch the chips off guard, and pressed again, but twice as hard.
I pleaded with the cursed machine: I begged and cried and then I swore.
Now, in mighty desperation, trying random combinations,
Still there came the incantation, just as senseless as before.
Cursor blinking, angrily winking, blinking nonsense as before,
Reading, “Abort, Retry, Ignore?”

There I sat, distraught, exhausted, by my own machine accosted.
Getting up I turned away and paced across the office floor.
And then I saw a dreadful sight: A lightning bolt cut through the night.
A gasp of horror overtook me, shook me to the very core.
The lighting zapped my previous data, lost and gone forevermore.
Not even, “Abort, Retry, Ignore?”

To this day I do not know the place to which lost data go.
What demonic netherworld us wrought where lost data will be stored,
Beyond the reach of mortal souls, beyond the ether, into black holes?
But sure as there’s C, Pascal, Lotus, Ashton-Tate and more,
You will one day be left to wonder, lost on some Plutonian shore,
Pleading, “Abort, Retry, Ignore?”
