Chat is part of new and yet-to-be announced mobile apps for peakoil.com. This forum was setup to enable the chat session in these mobile apps. Thus, there is no web browser support for chat (yet), it is only available in the mobile apps.

Maybe web browser access to discussion forums like peakoil.com works fine for tablets, but it can really be a pain to access forums with a browser on mobile devices with smaller screens, hence the mobile apps. Another benefit is that google search gives points for mobile-friendly sites, so adding the mobile access api to the server and providing mobile apps will help improve search results.

Can I ask when if ever will chat be available for laptops using Firefox browser?

I'm on android tapatalk, this came up in the regular lists. I have made a habit of deleting the tapatalk footer, which requires a undo when quoting or a post publish edit if not quoting. I don't like either being forced to advertise or my phone make & model being published.
